SEMENGGOH ORANG UTAN NATURE RESERVE (Duration: 3 hours+-) (Immediate effect until 31 December 2017)

Unlike in a zoo, the Orang Utans are free to roam in this 653 hectare forest reserve. Here, young and adolescent Orang Utans are trained to survive in the wild. ANNAH RAIS BIDAYUH LONGHOUSE (Duration: 4 hours+-) (Immediate effect until 31 December 2017)

Bidayuh, the second largest ethnic group in Sarawak, is formerly known as the ‘Land Dayak’ and was once also known as the ‘Engineer of Bamboo’. When visiting the Bidayuh longhouse, you will be able to see the splendid architecture of their longhouse, which were build mostly by bamboo. Annah Rais is one of the most famous Bidayuh longhouse in Sarawak, which located about 100 km east from Kuching City. The excursion will take about one and a half-hour on the road. During your visit, you will also be able to view the villagers with their own daily routine like rice pounding and winnowing, basket and mat weaving and bamboo carving. You will also see the most unique and important structure, the ‘Baruk’ or the head house, which situated in front of the longhouse. Villagers once used this as a fort to protect the whole village from being attack. Inside the ‘Baruk’, you will be able to view the real human skulls hanging around the fire place in the middle and the also their sacred war drum.

MORNING DOLPHIN SPOTTING TOUR (Duration: 3 hours +-)

This cruise criss-crosses the mouth of the Santubong River in search of the rare Irrawaddy

Dolphin. The Irrawaddy, or snubfin dolphin, inhabits rivers, estuaries and shallow coastal areas.

The Santubong area is one of the best places in Sarawak to view this unusual looking marine

mammal. The dolphins are often seen swimming and diving around small fishing boats in the

estuary. Occasionally they are seen playing in the open water. Visitors will need a keen eye to spot

the dolphins at first, but after a short wait they can often be seen surfacing all around the boat.

Cruises along Salak River and have a view the fishing village with houses on stilts.

This tour takes you around the rivers of the Santubong Peninsular, offering you the chance of seeing some of Sarawak’s fascinating wildlife. The cruise starts at the Santubong Village. From there your boat cruises to the mouth of the Santubong River, where Irrawaddy dolphins are often spotted. Your boat then roams the mangrove lined rivers looking for wildlife. As the light starts to fade we go in search of the rare proboscis monkey. Small groups are often seen on the treetops at the water’s edge, settling down for the night. As dusk arrives we search for fireflies and crocodiles. Crocodiles are often seen on the mud banks and brightly shining crocodile eyes can be spotted when a torch light is passed over the river. After searching for crocodiles your boat proceeds further up river where fireflies gather at night. Watch the fireflies move around the branches of the mangroves, momentarily lighting up the night sky. After enjoying a firefly light show you return to the jetty.

The Matang Wildlife Centre is about 35km from Kuching. Located in Kubah National Park, this large enclosed area of rainforest is home to some endangered wildlife.

A Shopper’s paradise - SERIKIN, a town located on the Sarawak – Indonesia border, is a favourite destination for shoppers, especially very popular for those from Peninsula Malaysia and among our locals here. Situated in the Bau district, not far from Tasik Biru, it takes approximately 1 ½ hours to reach this town by road from Kuching city. On both sides of the road leading to Serikin, one can see vast tracts of empty land alternating with swathes of green jungle, as well as the homes of people from the Iban and Bidayuh communities. A small roadside police post indicates the arrival in Serikin. Stalls in Serikin only operate during the weekends, on every Saturdays & Sundays. Most of the products sold here are from Indonesia. The main attraction is the ability to bargain freely. The goods are neatly arranged within and outside the stalls that stretch up to two kilometers. And one can hunt for different types of merchandise such as the handicrafts, mats, rottan products, clothing, various types of textiles like batik, kain songkek and kebaya fittings with unique embroidery, woodcarving, handmade potteries, weaving, and crystals, memorabilia made from glass and storage containers and other endless items. MEDAN NIAGA SATOK WEEKEND MARKET (Duration: 2 hours+-)

(Include : Return transfer only, GST 6%) The Medan Niaga Satok, which actually starts on every Saturday afternoon until Sunday noon is held at Kubah Ria. It is renowned for the Bidayuh ladies who spread their jungle produce along the parking spaces. Walk around and view all the colorful and exotic vegetables arranged on the mats or canvas to attract buyers. The Stalls at the Medan Niaga Satok are divided into various categories. Visitors should not miss Pasar Satok as the busy market offers views of diverse cultures, a cacophony of unfamiliar languages (especially for those familiar with standard Malay and English) and an assortment of products. In the market, you will find a lot of exotic fruits and vegetables like wild jungle ferns – ‘Midin’, which can only be found in Sarawak. There are also ‘Snake skin’ fruits and wild ‘belimbing’. Occasionally, you might be able to see one of the unique delicacies of the ethnic group, which is high in protein and believed to be a cure for ‘asthma’; the life ‘sago’ worms which is normally fried or eat fresh as snacks during tea break. There are also Chinese and Malay stalls selling various items such as the famous fresh water salted fish, ‘ikan terubok masin’, ikan bakar, local handicrafts and ethnic carvings, fruits, vegetables, poultry, seafood, unique plants and flowers like wild orchids, wild honey, traditional herbs (used as medicine), pets and even clothing. TRADITIONAL IBAN LONGHOUSE SAFARI (Immediate effect until 31 December 2017)

Longhouse is a village of 20-25 “bilek” or rooms (each for one family), all under one roof. Journey to the longhouse begin with a 4 hours car ride passing through the scenic countryside. The vast land on both side of the road are dotted with vegetable farms, paddy fields, rubber, pepper, oil palm and cocoa plantations which are some of the top revenue earner crops of Sarawak. En route a brief stopover at a small town called Serian. You will have a chance to experience the busy daily wet market and witness some of the rare jungle produce being sold by the native. Lunch will be at Lachau, a small popular “cowboy” town for Indonesian natives from the nearby Kalimantan border town who came over to do barter trade. You could do your last minute shopping here for a gift to your Iban host. The journey overland will end at a riverbank where a native longboat will takes you further upstream. Duration of the boat ride varies from 20 minutes to 1 hour; depending on which longhouse and the water level of the river. Poling under trees bending protectively over the river and shooting rapids (during dry season, you might be required to get down and help to drag the boat for a short distance) before arriving at your destination. Upon arrival, you can tour around the longhouse where semi wild boars and hunting dogs run nearby. Mingle with the Longhouse folks and talk about their daily activities and life at the Longhouse. The Iban maidens and warriors will perform a welcome dance while “tuak”- a traditionally brewed rice wine are serve as a welcome drink. Demonstration of their favorite game; cockfighting and “blowpipe” will be held at the open space. This is your chance to try out your skill of using the deadly weapon – “blowpipe”. Item to bring : Light clothing, towel, raincoat, torch light, swim wear, waterproof camera, insect repellent, sun block, flat shoe( prepare to get wet).

SATANG ISLAND TRIP (Duration : 4 hours+-)

In the morning, take a boat ride to Satang Island, the island is part of the Talang – Satang National Park and is protected for the conservation of Sea turtles. Along the boat ride you may be able to catch glimpses of mudskippers foraging on the mid-banks or even tiny agile flying fish leaping across the bow of your boat. Sometimes, you might be ‘Lucky’ to spot some Irrawaddy dolphins. Upon arrival, visit the turtle hatchery and learn about the conservation work being done to help these endangered sea creatures. After that spend a few hours swimming and snorkeling its pristine waters, well known for its beautiful corals and colourful fish. Packed lunch is provided, after lunch transfer back to the jetty and make you way back to hotel.

Please note that these animals are wild and therefore, there is no guarantee that visitors will see them.

GUNUNG GADING NATIONAL PARK (Duration: 5-6 hours +-) (Immediate effect until 31 December 2017)

The excursion will take an hour 30 minutes by land and this is the national park where you are able to view the largest flower in the world - the Rafflesia. (Subjected to flower blooming season). It grows up to 3 feet wide. When in bloom, the flower emits an unique growing process and a foul smell, which attracts flies and other insects for pollination. Trek along the wooden planks and it will bring you through the thick Primary and Secondary Tropical Forest. Squirrels are jumping from tree to tree and if you are lucky enough, you may encounter the white-crested hornbill.

Birding Package 2017 ~ Kubah National Park (SPCC)

Kubah National Park ( Half day or full day ) ( No meal ) 0600hrs Pick up from City Hotel then proceed for birding at Kubah National Park.
