Positive Behavior Award! By: Aditya George

During the week of 12/4/17 each class in each grade made a video about how to change what each student does in the halls and restrooms. Each grade voted for other grades. Each grade could not vote for themselves. The class who had the most votes could have a pizza party. The class who won is………………..Mrs. Sharlow’s class! Congratulations! Since they won, they were awarded a pizza party. They used the video to change the school’s attitude in school bathrooms and halls.

Have you ever played the new game called Earthing? Earthing is a game created in Denmark in the summer of 2013. It was invented by Australian Mark Saus (a great sports player). Earthing is a game where you race with both swimming and racing on track. This game is in the Olympics!! Check it out!

This is an image of the Olympic motto. The motto is Hendiatris Citius, Altius, Fortius, which is Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger." We’re wishing the 2018 winter athletes good luck! Don’t forget to check out Earthing!

Hi, we are your reporters: Amarthya and Shreya. Today we are going to look at some fun things happening in the month of February! Did you know that our student council…is holding a Hershey Kiss sale?!!! Do you want to know more about this then keep reading !!!

The event is called, “Guess How Much Lincoln School Student Council Loves You!” Student Council Members are selling “Guesses” for just $1.00. Anyone can buy a “Guess” to earn a chance at winning an entire jar of Hershey chocolates! This is happening during all lunch periods from February 13- February 15! Also, did you know that Lincoln School is collecting your extra snacks and fruits during lunch? The snack basket is always open for food. Please donate any food you wouldn’t like to eat that you didn’t touch. It is for a good cause! Many people in the world have families who are sick because they don’t have food to eat. Please Donate now and help those people!

Healthy fruits and snacks should be shared!

Get to know Our Student Secretary By: Amartya, Shreya, and Madura

Adithi, our student secretary, is in Mrs.Collin’s and Ms. Grimaldi's class. She is a great student secretary because she has trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, a caring heart, and shows great citizenship. For example, during the election, Adithi and the other contestants wanted to win. However, she was not a sore winner and the people were not a sore loser either.

Adithi wants you to know that the student council has many fun activities that will be coming up. She has participated in all of the meetings so far. She and the teachers had done many activities planned such as the Door Decorating. Again, Adithi is a great secretary, since she has a heart to make our school fun. So support this year’s student council.

Chromebook and Ipad safety: (5 tips) By: Ashwika B.

Well, we all know that technology is our favorite part of school now. Am I right or not? We don’t want our Chromebook or Ipad to get broken. Here are some tips about Chromebook and Ipad safety.

★ First: you should make sure you have insurance. If you do not, then you have to take FULL responsibility.

★ Second: you should also NEVER put magnets on your Chromebook/Ipad! If you do, the magnetic parts in your Chromebook/Ipad will get seriously damaged.

★ Third: you should never go on dangerous sites and if you do, tell an adult. Luckily, our school chromebooks and Ipads have something called Lightspeed Mobile Filter. This extension protects you from dangerous sites, but if you have a device at home, pay full attention! If you don’t, you could get a bad virus. If something new pops up on your screen do not click until you have permission.

★ Fourth: you should keep away any liquid from all devices. If any liquid spills, then take some paper towels and dry the Chromebook/Ipad in a nice, dry place.

★ Fifth: you should never cyberbully. Cyberbullying is when people type mean comments or emails about somebody. They can send personal stuff and can make you get in BIG trouble. Never ever do cyberbullying!

We all know that bullying has become an important issue at schools. Bullying hurts! Let me slow down a bit. We all know what bullying is but what’s cyberbullying? Cyberbullying is like bullying, but it’s just online. In this article, you will learn about how to spot bullying from teasing, how to prevent bullying and learn 5 important tips you should know to do all these things! Tips:

★ First : Never go on sites that make you give personal info.

★ Second: Don’t meet with a person you don’t know in real life. She/he may be a person with bad intentions.

★ Third: Make sure you don’t start cyberbullying/bullying. Making people feel hurt, using bad words, and not telling anyone that you are the troublemaker are not kind or respectful actions we should take.

★ Fourth: Don’t bully at school, recess, or anywhere else. Imagine you were the person getting bullied. How would you feel? Well then, don’t do it! (See Mr.Slusser if any problems happen!)

★ Fifth: ALWAYS tell an adult when bullying is happening to you or someone else whether it is cyberbullying or bullying offline.

IMPORTANT: NEVER do a chain email at school. Chain Emails are an online rumor but they are sweeter. Chain emails have a type of bargain at the end that says something like “Send this to 5 people and you will be happy tomorrow”. You can identify chain emails if it has something like the example shown above. Some chain emails might make you feel uncomfortable. Eating healthy can change your life! All you need to do is exercise, eat good food, drink

water, and most importantly, don’t get SICK! If you have gotten colds, you know the effects on it. Some colds can be bad or worse, but all colds will make you feel tired and also miss school. If you want to stay healthy, you just

need to do all things listed in these next sentences.

If you exercise, you can make your muscles and your whole body stronger. Drinking water can make your body stay hydrated and well. It

can also make you think better if you are in tension. Eating healthy means you will eat

ALL kinds of fruits and veggies. You can make a chart with all of the food that you think is

healthy.

Apples are examples of healthy foods! Eat them to stay fit and healthy.

New Releases Technology

iPHONE 8 On September 22nd, Apple released its new iPhone 8 & 8 plus. The iPhone 7 & iPhone 8 both have a 4.7 Retina HD Display, 12 MP camera & Touch ID. The iPhone 8 has an A11 Bionic chip while the iPhone 7 has an A10 Fusion chip. The iPhone 8 also comes with a wireless charger which also works with QI chargers. The iPhone 8 is the first iPhone to be released in 2017 and costs $699 for the 64GB model & $849 for the 256GB model. The iPhone 8 is a low-cost phone compared to the iPhone X which is the second iPhone released in 2017.

iPHONE X On November 3rd, Apple released its iPhone X (or iPhone 10), the second iPhone of the year. The iPhone X has a 5.8 Super Retina HD Display and a 12 MP camera with Wide angle & Telephoto lens. It has the new Face ID (Identity) feature and A11 Bionic chip. This phone also has wireless charging that works with Qi chargers. The iPhone X costs $999 for the 64 GB model & $1,149 for the 256GB model. It is the latest iPhone and has the best features yet!

TRAPPIST-1 SYSTEM On May 16th 2016, NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed the first known system of Earth-like planets. This solar system is called the TRAPPIST-1 system. Three of the planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system are in the habitable zone. They could have liquid water on their surfaces for all we know! The planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system are very close to each other. If you were on the surface of one of the TRAPPIST-1 planets, you could see the other planets in the system without needing a telescope. The TRAPPIST-1 star is an ultra cool dwarf, unlike our sun which is a yellow dwarf. Because of this, water can survive on planets very close to the TRAPPIST-1 star. This is not possible in our solar system. The planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system might support alien life! Scientists will now try to figure out if they really host life!

XBOX ONE X

The Xbox ONE X is finally here! It was launched on November 7th 2017. It can produce true 4K. It currently costs $499 and that is a $100 more than it’s main competitor which is the PS4 PRO which costs $399. The Xbox ONE X costs these extra $100 because of the extra teraflops. The PS4 PRO has 4.2 teraflops computing power while the Xbox ONE X has 6 teraflops of computing power clocked at 1.172 Ghz. This console also includes HDR and 4K UHD Blu-ray playback. It has 12GBs of GDDR5 memory. Including that, it also has 326GB/s of memory bandwidth. It produces 8 million plus pixels and runs at 60 frames per second. The console offers a wide colour gamut and has Premium Dolby Atmos sound. Microsoft is the creator of this console and claims that it is the most powerful console in the world.

FIFA 18 There are many games out there for your XBOX or Playstation. Many new ones too. Some games are great, some games….. Not so, much. Some of the best games are the ones you want to have. So, here is a great game: Fifa 18. Fifa 18 is a soccer simulation video game in the FIFA series of video games. It was launched on September 29th, 2017. The game was developed by Electronic Arts, EA Sports, EA Canada and was published by Electronic Arts, EA Sports. It is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (includes Xbox ONE S and ONE X), PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows.

FORZA HORIZON 3 Another great game is Forza Horizon 3. It was launched on September 27, 2016. Forza Horizon 3 is a sport/racing game and has gotten the award for being the best sport/racing game. It was developed by Playground Games and was published by Microsoft Studios. It is currently available on Xbox One (includes Xbox ONE S and ONE X), Microsoft Windows, and Windows 10. These are just 2 of the many great and amazing games out there. And there are many more.

FUTURE TECH In about 30 years in the future, an intense amount of tech will be released. For example, gun proof suits, Smart PCs, levitating boots, and Flex phones. Lots of companies are developing the flex phone, such as Samsung and Apple. Right now, people are making the Iphone flex from rubber.

New Releases Discoveries

ZEALANDIA Geologists have been studying the ocean floor under New Zealand and they reported that they have found an 8th continent. This new continent is called Zealandia. Zealandia was submerged after breaking from Antarctica about 85-130 million years ago and Australia about 60-85 million years ago. The 6% land pieces of Zealandia that are above water are New Zealand & New Caledonia. Based upon geophysical data, geographers think that the area of Zealandia is 5 million square kilometers. Geographers in Australia have recently published a paper indicating that Zealandia started peeling away from the supercontinent Gondwana, or Gondwanaland, about 100 million years ago. Zealandia might be considered a continent or might not ….. It just might be one!

Fantastic Beasts

Today we will introduce you to the new releases in books and in movies. We will be reviewing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Wonder, and The Art Of Harry Potter! Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a book by author J.K. Rowling. This book has been rated 4 out of 5 stars.Critics believe “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them isn't set in child-friendly Hogwarts, full of House-sorted students going to class and learning about magical creatures. Instead, it is set in 1920s Manhattan, where magical characters face a very separatist attitude towards those without magic, as well as a frightening dark force that's a threat to all New Yorkers.” We believe that critics have said this because of the reviews that say the movie is like a prequel to the harry potter movies.

Another new book release is The Art Of Harry Potter. Everyone that has read the books know that the books are based on the character named Harry. He is living with his Aunt and Uncle who are horrible to him. They learned he is a wizard and Harry is sent to Hogwarts and meets new best friends Hermione and Ron. But, there is a villain called Voldemort and is trying to kill Harry like he tried to when he was a baby. If you have read the books and have seen the movies you know that the world of Harry Potter has many secrets and magic.Well The Art Of Harry Potter is a book that shows all the sketches of people and places,blueprints, storyboards,and paintings used during the production. This is technically unpublished art from the Harry Potter films.
