Dear Parents,
This spring, Steve Coll, Katherine Maxwell, Lisa Sutterer and Anne Thurow
will be departing from Euclid Middle School.
A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.
~Henry Brooks Adams
The number of lives they touched in their careers is immeasurable. I would en-
courage you to send an email or a card, care of Euclid, if you desire to express
your gratitude for the gifts they’ve given to our students.
Eighth Grade Awards and Continuation Ceremony - This culminating celebra-
tion will be from 1pm to 2:40pm on Thursday, May 25th in the gym. This ceremo-
ny will include a time when many students are recognized by their teachers. The
students worked hard the last three years at Euclid to prepare for the next step of
their educational journey. We hope you join us for this event.
Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) - As we are saying goodbye to our older stu-
dents, we are making plans to welcome our new 6th graders. Many of them came
for a visit this spring during the school day. They toured the building with me,
met teachers and spoke to students. Incoming 6th graders should mark their calen-
dars for our “Meet and Greet Your Classmates” event August 16th, the day be-
fore school starts, from 8am-11am in the gym. Our 8th grade WEB leaders are ea-
ger to put on a fun program for the 6th graders. More information regarding this
program will be in the June newsletter.
As students work hard to finish the year strong, your partnership in this journey is
invaluable to us. There is much to learn and accomplish before the last day of
school. Thanks for your support.
Sincerely,
Gary Hein Principal

SEMESTER GRADES The second semester of the 2016-2017 school year will
end on May 26, 2017. Students will receive final
cumulative grades for this eighteen-week period. Grades
will be available for parents and students to view on
Infinite Campus Portal Friday June 5th, 2017. These
semester grades are final. The final grades become a part
of each student’s cumulative record.
IMMUNIZATIONS The Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment is requiring new vaccines for students
entering 6th and 7th grade. These include the Tdap
Vaccine and Varicella (2007), the Hepatitis B vaccine is
required for students entering 7th grade. If students
have not completed the three dose series of Hepatitis B
vaccine, or the Tdap and Varicella, parents must have
completed and filed a plan for completion of the vaccine
series with Student Services. Please continue with
updating these vaccines. Parents may also have signed
an exempt status and filed with Student Services.
Please keep your plan up to date and communicate
with Mrs. Keely.
If you do not have a regular family physician, you can
call Tri County Health at 303-761-1340 for information
about immunizations. 1-800-757-3999 is a centralized
number for making appointments for immunizations with
Tri County Health.
If you have any questions, call the Student Services
Office at 303-347-7810.
STUDENT INFORMATION If you have made any changes to background
information such as changes in address, phone
number (work and home), health and medication, or
emergency contact person(s), please contact the
school so that your student's records will be correct.
MOVING? Please notify the Student Services Office if your student
has registered but will not attend Euclid next year. Each
school is required to track withdrawals, so please call 303-
347-7810 (you may leave a voicemail message after
hours) and let us know when your student will be
withdrawing and where he/she will attend school. It is
very important for parents of current 5th graders to contact
Euclid with this information, too, so that we can adjust
enrollment if necessary. Parents of current 8th graders
should notify Euclid so that student records will not be
sent on to the high school if your student will not be
attending high school in the District. Thanks for your help!

ATTENTION 8th GRADERS
8th Grade Continuation Dress Code It’s a Euclid expectation and tradition that students
dress up for their continuation ceremony. If you are
going shopping, here are some guidelines to keep in
mind:
Girls usually wear dresses or nice slacks.
Girls dresses need straps and bra straps need to not be
visible. That said, we relax the 2” shoulder strap rule
on this day. Spaghetti straps are okay.
No bare midriffs.
Brand new shoes or very high heels are uncomfortable
and make “walking the line” hard; wear something
safe and comfortable.
Boys wear nice pants, shirts with collars, and dark
shoes. Suits and sport coats are NOT required, but we
strongly encourage neck ties.
8th Grade Class Party
Thursday, May 11 Eighth graders, mark your calendars now for the final
class party of your middle school career. The party will
be held in the Cafetorium on Thursday, May 11, from
2:45-4:10 pm. Join your friends, eat, dance and play
games. Activity buses will run that day. This party is
free.
Awards and Continuation Ceremony The date for 8th Grade Awards and Continuation Cere-
mony is Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 1:00 - 2:43 p.m. in
the EMS gym. Reception following.
On Friday, May 26th, the eighth
graders will go to Elitch Gardens for
the day.

All fees and fines need to be paid by the end of the year

fines need to be paid in order to attend the end of the
year Elitch Gardens Reward Field Trip. All outstanding
fines and fees past due must be paid by schedule pickup
or schedules will not be released until all outstanding
payments are received. Please contact the bookkeeper,
Jill Kelley, at 303-347-7800 or stop by the office be-
tween 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM.
Answers to commonly asked fee/fine questions:
*Club fee is due at the beginning of attending one club
(this includes Jubilation, after school plays and clubs).
After initial payment, the club fee includes unlimited
attendance at any clubs at EMS.
*Sport fees are due at the beginning of the sport being
played. There is a two sport maximum fee per student.
*Fines are assessed by the classroom teacher for lost
and or damaged books and are due at time of issuance.
If a book is found, a reimbursement will be issued.
*Registration fees are due at the beginning of the
school year. These fees include your student’s agenda,
vocabulary book and exploratory fees.
*Library Fines are assessed after 6 weeks overdue. No
other books can be checked out until the fines are paid
or the book is returned to the library.
Spring Dress Code Reminder
As we head into the spring, we often see a spike in
dress code violations. Students forget they have grown
over the past 7 months and the shorts which fit at the
beginning of the year are too small and are often times
no longer appropriate for school. Euclid’s dress code is
designed to maximize personal expression and style,
while maintaining a positive atmosphere that allows
everyone to feel comfortable and do their best learning.
Students who do not come to school dressed appropri-
ately will be asked to change clothes or, if that is not
possible, parents will be called to bring different
clothes.
As a reminder, here are key points to remember regard-
ing our dress code. Please see the student handbook for
a full description of Euclid’s dress code.
a. Unacceptable dress includes: spaghetti straps,
halter-tops.
b. Shorts or skirts must be fingertip length.
c. Students may not sag their pants.
d. Undergarments must be covered.
e. No low-cut shirts.
f. T-shirt straps must be at least 2” wide.
g. Appropriate footwear is required at all times.
Student Council By Lynn Duran
Euclid Student Council has been very
busy this spring. We are currently
wrapping up our national fundraiser for
the March for Babies. This event
helped raise money and awareness for
children that are born prematurely. We
attended a Fun Walk at City Park on
April 22. We had about 25 students,
staff and parents attend this event. We
are also putting the final touches on our
annual Teacher Appreciation Week,
May 1-5. Sixth graders made posters
that they will hang on teachers doors,
seventh graders will give out highlight-
ers because teachers are the "highlight"
of the school, and eighth graders will
decorate the staff lunchroom and bring
in breakfast items for the teachers. We
had a great year as a student council
and can't wait to be back in the
fall! Have a good summer.

GT News By Valerie Grenawalt
NJHS
On Thursday, April 27, 2017, sixty-two sixth and seventh
graders were inducted into the National Junior Honor So-
ciety in an evening ceremony at Euclid. NJHS recognizes
who exhibit exemplary respect, responsibility, trustworthi-
ness, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Congratulations
new members! These students are also invited to attend
the last NJHS meeting for this school year on Friday, May
5 at 7:00 a.m. in the double classroom.
8th Grade Language Arts Audition
7th grade students identified for GT services in language
arts, as well as students who received a teacher recommen-
dation and any others interested in taking a high level,
challenging, and advanced language arts class, were invit-
ed to audition for advanced 8th grade language arts classes.
Two levels of advanced classes are offered in 8th grade:
Advanced Language Arts and Language Arts Seminar.
Language Arts Seminar provides an additional challenge
beyond Advanced Language Arts. Selection for classes is
based on a body of evidence including the audition, stand-
ardized test scores, and an average of teacher core recom-
mendations. The audition took place in the double class-
room on March 16. Students will be notified as to their
placement through their LPS Google accounts on May 19.
LPS Gifted Services
Littleton Public Schools sponsors various mini-
symposiums on current topics in gifted education. All par-
ents and teachers are welcome to attend. Watch the Falcon
Flyer for announcements concerning these presentations.
The LPS Gifted and Talented Advisory Council studies
current issues in gifted education and make recommenda-
tions to the school board regarding gifted services in our
district. The council meets 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Educa-
tional Services Center Board Room once a month during
the school year. All parents are welcome to attend.
We would like to thank our EMS G/T Advisory Repre-
sentatives, Pam Iken and Robyn Tripp, for their involve-
ment at the school and district level.
Littleton Association of Gifted and Talented (LAGT), our
local GT affiliate of the Colorado Association for Gifted
and Talented, sponsors periodic programs as well as a state
conference. Watch for announcements of these events or
check the organization website at www.coloradogifted.org.
