CRAA meeting to feature Campbellton studio owner Doris Claybrone of The Gallery of Arts and Culture Center in Campbellton will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 15 meeting of the Chipola Regional Arts Association (CRAA). Gallery founder Lilly Clark will join Claybrone in offering a unique look at the center. With the help of their community, Claybrone and Clark put their talent to use creating the work displayed in the gallery today. During the summer, the gallery offers structured activities for local students designed to build character and to provide hands-on experience in a make believe workplace. Time sheets are kept by the students, paychecks are issued, purchases are made in the company store, and weekly movies are available for those who have not spent all their play money in the store. “What we hope to accomplish is unity in the community. We have done all of this art work so that the individuals in not only Campbellton, but in areas like Marianna, Malone, Greenwood and Bascom can have a place to come and just enjoy what they see,” said founder, Lillie Clark. CRAA meets at Jim’s Buffet, with a Dutch-treat luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and program beginning at noon. All in attendance at the meeting will be entered into a drawing for Artist Series tickets for Harpist Anna Maria Mendieta scheduled for Jan. 16. For information about CRAA, contact Anita Price at [email protected] or (850) 718-2277.
