would become a pilgrim, mystic, priest, teacher, spiritual guide and writer, the founder of a religious order, and

Catholic tradition with a distinct spirituality. That spirituality is cap-

tured, of course, in his Spiritual Exercises. Part of his spirituality is also cap-tured in what are known as the Scintillae Ignatianae (or Sparks of Ignatius). Initial-ly compiled in 1715 from Ignatius’ letters and other writings by Jesuit scholar

There is only one worthy ambition – to love God, and as a reward of that love to grow in loving Him.

Take care lest the children of the world spend more care and attention on transitory things than you do on seeking those that are eternal.

Lord, what do I desire except You. What could I wish for besides You?

It is not enough that I should serve God by myself: I must help the hearts of all to love him and the tongues of all to praise him.

Nothing is more pleasant than to love God, provided this love moves you to undergo many tribulations.

If you wish to advance in the love of God, speak of it. Spiritual

Notice:

Dr. Anthony Compagnone, a parishioner and member of the Liturgy

Commission, has advised us that masks are effective ONLY if they cover both your nose

and your mouth, with a snug fit over the nasal bridge. This is the best way to prevent your

respiratory droplets from escaping into the space around you and onto others.

Further, he pointed out that recent studies have shown that, while valved masks may make

it easier for you to inhale, they are ineffective in preventing your exhaled breath from

contaminating the air around you.

Valved masks of any kind, therefore, will be prohibited for use during Mass at St. Ignatius.

The Greeter at your liturgy will happily provide you with an acceptable mask to wear as

you enter the church. We also ask that you wear your mask properly throughout the Mass.

This is for the safety of us all. We appreciate your cooperation.

-Fr. Joe

Action:Switch from Shower Gel to Bar Soap During ‘Plastic Free July,' Posted on June 28, 2020 by Green Newton

One way to decrease the amount of plastic we have in our lives is to eliminate single use plastic bottles that hold

shampoo, conditioner, and liquid soaps and opt for bar equivalents. Bar soaps come in different blends to suit

body washing, face wash, shampoo and shaving, so your line-up of bottles may become a line-up of bars.

You may never go back to the bottle.

Tip: check the ingredients of the soap to ensure they don’t contain palm oil who’s production

plays a role in deforestation.
