The Vice.Pre*ident external, Anthany Ramos "Toni,'even jcked and commented "madadagdagan lang tayo ng6fF/" ng total members ng TAMVOL kung gagawingmandatory ang pagseli ng mga estudyantei ,,which

"lt shculd come from their hearts if they really want toserve our eommunity'i Vice-President internal, Ther.minaAkram "Minal contradicted. We cennot impase on studentsto be members of fiMVOL but we can make them see howexciting and fun in extending our arms to the welfare of thecommunity by doing volunteer activites.

They have been doing this for the last six years of it:existence in the university, almost a Renaissance period forthe Tamarfrw Valunteers. long b,efore the icom af CSR.TAMVOL has been practicing the so-called crude concept ofStudent Social Responsibility by formulating prcjects thatalleviates cr giva au.areness inside thr university andoutside in our community.

The Renaissance period of the organization {TAMVOI}

paved way to tfuis trend and we at TAMVOL would like toprornote with the entire Green and 6old studentry -Stud*nt $scial Responsibility.

It is important ts look at the origin of theorganization (TAMVOL) to have an idea to what they{officers, committees, members} had sacriffced for thetime they spent in serving the ccrnmunity. I recalled anceagain, in one sf the seminars that I attended abautleadership, last summer {200Sh the speaker diserentiatedto us the different types of leaders and how studentleaders differ from servant leader*hip. At that time, I wasnot yet a part of TAMVOL and looking back last summer I

now understand whatthe speaker wants to trll us rboutsenmnt leadership. The projects that I afiended made merealized that serving your corfirnunity is challenging andsurprisingly fulfilline, lt g*ve me s clear view af Student$oci*l Rerponsibility. lt gave me my Student SocialResponsibility, the re*ponsibility that in $ome way I couldalleviate the status of som*one by doing volunteer works.,

Someone asked me, why 1lou (TAMVOLI even botherdoing community service or participate in communityimmersions? You don't even get salary or compensationfrom doing so. I gave him something to think ponder towith a question. What if instead of playing DOTA for half ofyour day, you go to activities like for instance the l(ytheproject {tied up project of Health $ervices Charxber} for anhour. You did not just waste yaur time and mcney; youmade an impact to someone and made them feel blissful"

Making Our Way Back To

Where They Have Started...

RAYf*ERIUS GOZE

TAMVAL President

"...at least we have started, and at

least, we have brought back the

organization to what it is supposed

to be""

Ano na ba ang nagawa ngTAMVOL?

For so rnany times that this phrase was asked tome, ljust hanestly don't know what to answer; aside

from the projects of forrner IAMVOL Prasident Mark

Dean ltaralde like FEU GK Pabahay and Save the

Tamarav*s Project, which both weren't really known

originated from the organization.

Tamaraw Volunteers is mnsidered to be the student arm

of the school with regards ta community service. But

according to Dean Adelaida Fronda, somewhere along

the way, the organization's real concept was redirected,

Sone are the days of Mn ltaralde when theorganization w:s able to ccme up with long termprojects. Added by Dean Frcnda, the organization has

now becorne just like any other academic organizations

whose projects dealt mostly with farumsn cenferences,

short term projects, competition, seminars, and otherstuffs which doesn't reaily have an impact in our school

and society.

Making the organiration back in ta what it issupposed to be, dealing with long term projects has nowbecome our focus. And I admit i! it isn't that easy,

Fortunately, last November 4, 200& a day after ourfirst day for the second semestel I was able to attend

the 5 year planning/meeting of the school with regards

to the university's community s*rvice. The university has

chosen the organization to be the lead organization

th*t'll take care of environmental lssues and disaster

management of the university.

Thc Altrulst

One of the programs that the organization was

tasked to handle is the FEU Clean and Green Program.

This will be pa*nered with lARFffs Environmental

Socieg. FEU Clean and Green Program is a five year

project of the school which aims to provlde projects

that would make FEU a truly ernrironment friendly

institution. And as of now, we are working hard so thatwe could launch it in time for the FEU's Foundation

Week, as it was suggested by Vice President forPla nning and Developrnent. Elizabeth Melchar.

Also, we willnow startto build a good

partnership with Hed Cross that could give us

knowledge *nd skills with regardi to disaster

rilanag€ment which according to the administration,

we should lead together with the Red Cross Youth

Ceuncil of the school.

Aside from these programs, we are also looking

{orward for other projects like Learning Advocacy

Prcgram for lndigenous Society {1.A.p.1.5. Pmject},

KALSADASKWELA, and nthers to be passed.

Though facing the fact that this is my last year here in

the university, just like my other officers, seeing the

output of these initiatives will not be that attainable

since the prograrn$ were of a five year in the making;

but the good thing is, AT LEASTWE HAVE STARTED, AND

AT LrAsl WE HAVE $ROU€HT BACKTHE

ORGANIZATION TO WHAT IT I3 SUFPSSTD TO BE.

Coinciding the gathering of forrnerTamaraw Valunteer leader* and rnembers, the organiration launches its ownaward-giving body ealled TAMVOL ALAB

Coining the name from the English termfor burn,/ flame -- Armando Orcilla Jr",

founding member and former Officer inCharge, together with the incumbentpresident. Raynerius Gore came up with theidea of recognizing the current and fsrmerTAMVOT- leaders and members ,
