Essential oils are the concentrated, volatile, aromatic compounds of a plant

a complex mixuture that can contain over 100 chemical compounds obtained from a single natural raw plant material by

distillation with water or steam and also by pressing the peels of citrus fruits. Capturing the precious fragrance of a plant

that comes from highly aromatic volatile compound liquid [‘bubbles’] that evaporate and hidden in glands (tiny tacs) in

different parts of plants - root, stem, bark, leaf, petals, flowers or rind – and have a characteristic aroma uniquely their

INDIGENOUS

STANDARD OIL = Standard oil vs an essential oil? Standard oils are formulated with a percentage of synthetic OR natural identical components to meet

international specifications required by large industries such as food, pharmaceutical, dental and beverage, to maintain material standards and odour

profiles. Essential oils are extracted directly from a plant source with no addition of other compounds from plant to bottle

FOODGRADE OIL = the food industry uses it extensively for seasonings, sauces, pickling and more and employed in minuscule amounts on a rather

massive scale and under strict guidelines. There are a ton of food additives on the GRAS list that are considered food safe that you would not want to

ingest/use on its own, this includes essential oils. A food grade oil doesn't

mean it is pure, natural or safe to ingest or consume on its own. To enhance flavour in food, organic EO is best.

CARRIER OIL

also referred to as Base Oils and are used to dilute the EOs so that they can be applied to the skin.

Carrier Oils are vegetable oils and are often derived from the plant’s fatty portion such as its nuts, kernels or seeds. They increase

the absorption of EOs into the skin, but they also hold their own innate benefits; from anti-aging properties to nourishing

constituents which moisturise and rejuvenate the skin

a fatty substance derived from natural products, such as fat extracted from the nuts of the Shea Tree to make Shea Butter,

or a fatty substance contained in cocoa beans which is used to make Cocoa Butter. Butters like these are often added

together with EOs to make Body Butter, an organic, highly effective and nourishing skin moisturiser

HYDROSOL

FLORAL WATER

often referred to as Floral Waters and Distillate Waters. Hydrosol is an aromatic water that is left over after the steam-

distillation or hydro-distillation of botanical material. Hydrosols are gentle on the skin and as a result they do not require a
