System based commissioning to improve value
Creating the environment for provider led change
Understanding that we can do things differently
2
PCC also supports commissioners to look at an outcome or value based approach to commissioning. The NHS needs to change how and what we commission in order to incentivise and enable the system to improve. This half day facilitated development workshop supports understanding a new approach to commissioning, understand the challenges and begin to develop the approach for the local population. It will explore the stages to developing a genuine population based outcomes focused commissioning programme, the key considerations and allow an opportunity for development of local plans.

Transforming primary care
In order to create the environment for change the NHS needs to combine the development of how and what is commissioned with supporting the development of the provider landscape through putting patient and clinical engagement at the heart of the design process.
This approach will promote a community based service model with general practice as the hub of care to give the foundations for a sustainable NHS with patient focused holistic care.
