SYNOPSIS

The cast members of the Chamber of Screams Haunted House worked really hard this Halloween season scaring the people of the town. The management of the Chamber of Screams has decided to reward the employees with a mini-Halloween celebration held during normal business hours in the employee break room. As you are well aware, the Chamber of Screams Haunted House typically shuts down each night for a brief time period so the employees can get a break and straighten up the haunted scenes. You

heard a rumor when you first started working there that the management probably does this so the line of customers outside will build up and The Chamber of Screams

will look twice as busy and much more popular. Regardless of the reason for this break, you definitely look forward to the upcoming treat during your next shift at work.

This is where your story begins...

Alien Invader

Nani Noonunfa plays the leading role in the Alien Invasion room of the Chamber of Screams Haunted House. Nani can be difficult to deal with as s/he is used to getting his/her way and so s/he throws an angry tirade until s/he gets what s/he wants. The word is that this heir/heiress works in the haunted

house purely for fun as his/her parents have millions upon millions of dollars!

This character can be expanded by adding more aliens from the Alien Invasion room of the haunted house. The aliens will play as a group with Nani as

the leader.

Fun House Clown

Money Milenko is one of the many creepy clowns that work in the Fun House section of the Chamber of

Screams Haunted House. A party clown-for- hire by day, eccentric is the best word to describe this hair-raising entertainer. Also, you won’t be taking this acquaintance home for dinner with the parents as

Money Milenko is known for his/her extremely horrible manners.

This character can be expanded by adding more clown characters from the Fun House. The clowns

will play as a group with Money Milenko as the leader.

THE COUNT

Vampire

The Count plays the leading role in the vampire castle room of the Chamber of Screams Haunted

House. A defense attorney by day, s/he is a nightmare to work with as you are forced to deal with his/her incessant trash-talking. S/he is also bluntly honest so if you don’t want to hear the truth…avoid

this fanged-monster at all cost…RUN!

Jamie Vorahees (Serial Killer)

V certainly hasn’t made a lot of friends at the Chamber of Screams Haunted House over the years while playing the role of a serial killer – Jamie Vorahees. V is known for being extremely uptight, inflexible and impersonal…at work and at play. V doesn’t do anything besides work seasonally at the haunted house and is known to use his/her many connections on the streets to cause havoc with anyone that crosses him/her.

RAPPEN TYTE

Rappen Tyte is the spunky college student from the local University who plays the role of a mummy in the

Chamber of Screams Haunted House. Rappen constantly mocks everyone and has a reputation for being quite greedy and overzealous. Just don’t get

into any situation where Rappen could possibly take advantage of you…or you’ll lose!

MARY FRANX

Mary Franx is the antisocial wannabe super model who plays the role of the Bride of Frankelstein in the

Chamber of Screams Haunted House. She is extremely judgmental of others and tends to offend

others with her brazen comments. Mary has an intense fear of germs so getting too close to her is

out of the question! She definitely keeps her distance from the customers in the haunted house.

AXEL GUNS

If you looked up perfectionist in the dictionary, Axel Guns’ picture would be next to the description. Axel

has a severe problem with thinking nothing s/he does is good enough. An artist by day, s/he constantly

works on perfecting his/her artistic creations - which happen to be considered as some of the best in the nation! As everything must be in perfect order at all

times including ‘Axel’, s/he constantly checks his/herself out in a handheld mirror!

Don’t fully trust this fun-loving party animal and prankster, Sam Chawpalot! But this butcher of the slaughter house scene of the Chamber of Screams Haunted House is definitely one to hang out with at any party! Sam has tricks hidden in every sleeve and surprises around every corner – which makes

total sense since s/he owns a joke shop! You better watch your back around this mischievous fun-

provoker!

- if you don’t appreciate the art of close-talking you might want to stay away from this menacing dream chaser! S/he likes to stand uncomfortably close to

you when s/he speaks.

Originally hailing from France, Leroux Gastron came to America and hit the Hollywood big screen as a

child. By the time s/he was fifteen, s/he left the Hollywood lifestyle for small town living. Leroux plays

the leading role in the Opera House room in the Chamber of Screams Haunted House. But don’t go to this cast member for a cheer up if you had a bad night as s/he has a knack for spreading depression and pointing out the negative in everything. S/he’s

earned the nickname of ‘Doomer McGloomer.’

Pocus Eastwick is the loony fast-food worker that plays the role of a crazed witch in the witch’s coven room of the Chamber of Screams Haunted house. She takes her job a little too seriously as everyone who works in the haunted house gossips about how Pocus really thinks she is a real witch. They all think she has some major mental issues!

Bing Black plays the ominous role of the Grim Reaper who is one of the many tour guides of the Chamber of Screams Haunted House. Ironically,

s/he is a fun-loving standup comedian and randomly bursts into song whenever the time’s right. That is,

when s/he is not working at the Chamber of Screams! This character can be expanded by adding more Grim Reaper guides of the haunted house The

reapers will play as a group with Bing Black as the leader.

Chamber of Screams Haunted House. Just clear your calendar for a bit if you plan to speak to Gerri!

Zed Zeff is ultra-mysterious and plays the leading

zombie role in the graveyard scene of the Chamber of Screams Haunted House. New to the cast this

year, nobody knows anything about Zed Zeff and this makes a few people very uneasy.

This character can be expanded by adding more Zombie characters from the Graveyard scene. The zombies will play as a group with Zed Zeff as the

leader.

Red Axehouse is the brazen firefighter by day and by

night; this blaze-wrestler is a romantic poet that performs at the local poetry club – that is, when he is

not dressed as a serial killer and chasing young people around the Chamber of Screams Haunted

house! Armed with perfect manners and chivalrous words, this is one sincere and overly-adoring

gentleman.

Get ready for a fun time at the CHAMBER OF SCREAMS HAUNTED HOUSE with your purchase of the HOMICIDE ON HALLOWEEN game from mymysteryparty.com! This party is an entertaining and comical mystery where the players act the roles of hilarious personalities while sleuthing the intriguing story line. You can never go wrong with a MY MYSTERY PARTY on Halloween for you and your closest friends & family!

The party pack (this document) needs to be printed in advance of the party. Cut out the clues and slip them into envelopes labeled with the appropriate round and character for each round of the party. It is optimal to choose different colored envelopes for each round. For economy’s sake, you can also scroll the clues and fasten with a ribbon. Be sure to label the outside of each scroll with the character/round. In the instructions, however, we will assume you are using the envelope method for each character, each round.

The game is organized into four rounds and is structured as follows: OPTIONAL PRE-GAME TASKS & STARTERS: these pre-game starters and task sheets are to be delivered to each guest before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game materials are optional and do not alter the mystery and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These starters and tasks are not vital to solving the mystery and omission of them does not alter the mystery in any way. APPETIZER (COCKTAILS 4 ADULTS) HOUR / ROUND ONE: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. DINNER HOUR / ROUND TWO: Deliver these clues while you serve dinner (optional) to your guests. DESSERT, AND THE BIG REVEAL/ SOLUTION ROUND THREE: Deliver these clues with coffee/hot cocoa and dessert. Note: you do NOT have to serve dinner, this is only suggested and the instructions tell you ‘when’ to serve it and what to do around the time you serve it. HELPFUL HINTS ON HOW TO PLAY A MYSTERY PARTY - GUEST INSTRUCTIONS

So you’ve been assigned a character and you’ve come to the party dressed in the most frightening haunted house cast member costume and have been told to play your role. So now what? The mystery is separated into 3 main rounds of party play. During the party, you will receive an envelope that contains the clues necessary for your character for the round. The clues for all of the required characters provide everything that you need to solve the mystery. However, during the investigation segment of the game, you will need to ask the right questions and pay close attention to everyone’s clues to get the whole picture of what has happened.


From this point forward, you are to remain in character until the mystery is solved. If you are playing a ‘green alien from Mars’, then that is who you are until the end! Undoubtedly, your host has cast you into a character that you are comfortable playing. There are some characters that are designed to be played more reserved than other characters that should be played more boisterous. Feel free to play your role however you feel comfortable. Embellish your character’s personality if you would like. However, if you are feeling more reserved tonight, you can opt to allow the other characters to approach you or you can simply listen in on others’ conversations to get your information.


OPTIONAL PRE-GAME STARTER HOST INSTRUCTIONS: Before the party, encourage your guests to view this mystery on the www.mymysteryparty.com website or use the free printable My Mystery Party invitations as they have the character descriptions included. This way, before the party, they can get familiar with the other characters that will be at the party. This optional pre-game round is to be implemented approximately one week before the party. Please note that this round is designed to generate pre-game excitement and is not necessary to solve the mystery. The ways to deliver these starters are as follows:


OPTIONAL PRE-GAME TASKS: Cut the task strips out and slip them into envelopes (with or without the employee announcements above). Be sure to fill in your guests’ preferred contact information (i.e. email, phone) on the task slips so they will be able to contact each other. If you are playing with expandable groups, only give each ‘team leader’ a pre-game task sheet in each team and they will forward any correspondence that they receive to each of their teams (you’re asked to put their teams’ contact information on each team leader’s task sheet).

DR. JECKLE HYDE OPTIONAL - for some pre-party fun, contact (email, phone, etc.) the following guests in the week leading up to the party:

Contact the guest playing Nani Noonunfa and say you are so excited that the Chamber of Screams management is giving you all a Halloween Celebration during work hours. It should be fun! (Contact info :_____________________________________________) Contact the guest playing The Count and say that you wished s/he would reconsider his/her law suit against you since you might lose your medical license if you lose the case. (Contact info :____________________________________________________________) Respond to the guest playing Red Axehouse (if s/he contacts you first) with: Yes, it is true. Unfortunately, The Count had a wart removed and didn’t get the antibiotic ointment prescription filled and came down with a minor skin infection and blames me. Crazy!

Please note: either contacting the guests above or deciding to skip these tasks will not alter the mystery or anyone's ability to solve the mystery in anyway. However, contacting other guests will lead to excitement about the party and will encourage other guests to read about the other characters and be prepared for serious fun!!

ROUND ONE MEET & MINGLE APPETIZER HOUR. IT’S PARTY TIME!

DIRECTIONS FOR THE HOST: Round one – appetizer hour begins as the guests arrive. Create a Haunted House ambiance with any scary music soundtrack (or any other type of music) CD playing softly, and scary Halloween décor (spider webs, candelabras, etc.) You can also make a DVD of pictures of you and your guests to play like a slideshow during your party on the television (if there is one in the room). It is NOT necessary to set up a haunted house in your home! The game setting is in an ‘employee break area’ of a Haunted House. You can make this as elaborate as you wish by creating a Haunted House ‘entrance’ to your home with a sign that says ‘Chamber of Screams.’ And if you wish, you can set up a room or two adjacent to the party room as one of the Haunted house rooms – i.e. the cemetery – or even your entire house or party location as the Chamber of Screams by looking at the answer key to the types of rooms and their locations in respect to each other. But, this, in no means, is necessary to play the game.


PROP LIST: These are props needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready. If the optional dance contest is played, you will need a source of music with any dance song you choose. You will

also need the dance type strips (below) - cut out and folded and placed into any container. If the optional Creepy Disguise Challenge is played, you will need 1 roll of toilet paper for every 2-3 players in the

game. If the Horrific Rap Contest is played, you will need a source of music and any instrumental rap beat (there is one

available for download on My Mystery Party in the Mystery Props section of the site). It is optional to have a PA system for the rappers – you can just play the music low enough so the rappers can be heard.

ROUND ONE CLUES – CUT OUT, SLIP INTO ENVELOPES AND LABEL WITH THE CHARACTER AND ROUND.

ROUND TWO – DAUNTING DINNER HOUR DIRECTIONS FOR THE HOST: In the nearest bathroom, place the following items under the sink - the victim sign (page 44), scotch tape, murder weapon cut out (page 45), host supplied white non-toxic face makeup (optional but funny and suggested), and also include the victim t-shirt and / or crime scene tape if you have purchased these items. If there is not a cabinet under the sink, place these items in any location that can be concealed within that bathroom. The murder victim will be instructed in their clue card for round two to look for it if there is not a cabinet under the sink. The murder victim will be instructed in their round two clue card - after the pre-murder clues have been implemented - to put the white face makeup on their face, put on the victim sign by adhering it to their chest with Scotch tape, and if the optional victim t-shirt is available- to put that on (with the victim sign on top) and if the crime scene tape is there - to decorate themselves with it. It is hilarious when a fully decorated victim walks back into the party area!

DR. JECKLE HYDE– ROUND ONE Remember: you are a doctor in real life and play the leading role in the mad science lab of the Chamber of Screams. You are an

arrogant over exaggerator that speaks with an Australian accent. Considering your character flaws, you are still quite charming. You work in the Haunted House because you aspire to be an actor/actress one day when you grow tired of practicing medicine.

USE THE FOLLOWING SPOOKY TRIVIA QUESTIONS AS AN ICE BREAKER

QUESTION: If you are a teen living on Elm Street -what should you NOT do? ANSWER: Sleep! (Nightmare on Elm Street) QUESTION: If you are looking for a job on Crystal Lake, what type of job should you try to avoid? ANSWER: Camp Counselor (Friday the 13th)

CLUES TO REVEAL DURING THIS ROUND During this round, mingle with other guests to discuss the following information with whomever you choose:

Tell The Count in private that you can’t believe that s/he filed a malpractice suit against you for a finger infection s/he received after a wart removal. Say that your attorney checked with the pharmacy and s/he never had her antibiotic ointment prescription filled! Ask how it can possibly be your fault or negligence in any manner?!

Ask Nani Noonunfa if it is true that The Count ordered 5 pieces of custom art in the color scheme red, burnt orange and lime green that were all designed with a bull, chicken and vampire theme? Say that you know s/he is the most talented artist in the nation, but that seems like a strange combination of color and themes for art!

Tell Mary Franx (who works with you in the science lab scene) that you feel that the science laboratory scene is the absolute best one in the entire Haunted House and you two should be paid a lot more than everyone else. Ask her what she thinks.

PERSONAL CLUES TO CONCEAL • If you receive one more malpractice suit against you, your malpractice insurance will increase to more than you make in a month

at your family practice office. You’ll be ruined. You could also lose your license since you’ve had so many suits against you for very, very dumb things that were honestly beyond your control. Maybe you need to secure a higher salary with your job in the haunted house so you have a backup – it won’t compare to a medical salary but something is better than nothing!

During the mystery, your character must be honest and not make up any potentially mystery-altering clues in addition to those provided to you. You do not, however, have to share the clues that you collect with other guests.

Each guest will have a round one clue

card in the purchased game.



Put the forensic analysis results (page 43) in a sealed envelope. Reveal it towards the end of this round by explaining that Rappen Tyte called in a favor from his/her friend, Officer Danglin. Say that he was glad to do it - unofficially - and that he will simply wait outside so the group can solve the crime before the murder is officially reported! Say that he doesn’t have much time, however and will need to act like he just arrived when the police are finally called. The group collectively needs to agree that they did the preliminary forensic analysis so Officer Danglin doesn’t get into trouble for tampering with evidence. Have everyone agree that Dr. Hyde would know how to do it, so he did it really quickly. Nobody will get into trouble for that as he was simply trying to be ‘helpful’ and solve the case as fast as possible before the murderer got away! At the conclusion of this round, give the guests a time period in which to fill in their final guesses as to whodunit on the 'Murder Mystery Investigation Sheet' (page 46-61). Collect the guess sheets from your guests at the conclusion of this round. Prop list: These are props needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready!

DR. JECKLE HYDE - Round Two Pre-Murder Clues

Tell a few people that you just can’t believe that The Count has the audacity to file a malpractice suit against you. Say that you removed a simple wart from his/her finger and prescribed antibiotic ointment – which The Count never had filled at the pharmacy! How can it be your fault? Nonetheless, if it is deemed your fault, your malpractice insurance will go up beyond what you even make per month as a physician and you could lose your medical license forever! You’ll have to find a job in another field! It will ruin you!

Ask Rappen Tyte why s/he had to do so much community service this last year. Say that it seemed that s/he must have done hours of trash pickup since you’d see him/her every time you drove down the highway.

Ask Money Milenko about why the managers of the Chamber of Screams were measuring the Fun House room last week. Say that it appeared as though they were planning for some new construction in there.

Post- Murder Evidence & alibi You left the break room to go back to the Science Lab in the haunted house so you could get ready for the re-open that

was to take place very shortly. You heard that there was a big line at the main entrance and so you knew you’d be busy for quite some time tonight. You left the break area approximately 2 minutes after you noticed The Count walking toward the restrooms. There’s a short cut through the restrooms to get to the main entrance atrium and then into the first room of the haunted house. You assumed that is the same route The Count took since s/he wasn’t in the restroom when you went through there and wasn’t in the main entrance foyer. You went straight into your room (the Science Lab)– which is the first room of the haunted house after the main entrance.

The lights went out (prematurely since it wasn’t time to reopen) about 3 minutes after you got into your room. You fumbled your way to the main entrance foyer to turn them on and since you heard a loud noise from about 3 rooms down when the lights were off and you are a physician – you thought you would investigate to see if anyone had gotten hurt in the dark. That’s when you found the body in the Vampire Castle room. Then, you rushed back towards the main entrance and saw Axel Guns outside and told him/her about the body. Everyone heard you and rushed out of the break area and chaos ensued. Even the customers who were in line heard you and things got very chaotic from there.

The only main light switch for the haunted house is located in the main front entrance atrium. If the murderer is the one who turned off the lights, it would have taken 2 minutes to walk briskly to get to the room where the victim was murdered. The lights would have still been off when the victim was murdered.
