    Lakeland College environmental sciences student TracyPiquard examines peat vegetation at Syncrudes fenreclamation research plot.

    A $3.8 million research program focuses on wetlandsrestoration projects and is a collaboration with25 researchers from four Canadian universities.

    In 1993, Syncrude introduced a herd of wood bison intoa reclaimed area to assess the capability of the landscapeto support large mammals. Today, 300 wood bison grazeon 700 hectares of land.

    Syncrude has reclaimed over 4,500 hectares, including this area, which was once part of our mining operation.

    The Syncrude Gallery of Aboriginal Culture is one of thelargest exhibitions of its kind in North America. It islocated at the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton, Alberta.
