Charles Butler, trumpetMr. Butler has been principal trumpet with Symphony Tacoma since 2016. He has also held major posts with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet and many others. Over his illustrious career, Mr. Butler recorded

with Leonard Bernstein, played under the batons of Itzhak Perlman and Zubin Mehta, and toured the world as a soloist.

Jeffrey Snyder, trumpetMr. Snyder has been a member of the Symphony Tacoma trumpet section since 1998. He has also performed with the Oregon Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theatre and Portland Opera.

His teachers include Gerald Webster, Edward H. Tarr, Bryan Goff and Charles Schlueter. He studied at Washington State University and the New England Conservatory of Music. For the past 28 years, Mr. Snyder has been building custom trumpets at Monette Corporation.

Daniel Partridge, hornMr. Partridge is principal horn of Symphony Tacoma and the Vancouver (WA) Symphony and also plays regularly with the Oregon Symphony, Portland Opera, Oregon Ballet Theater and Chameleon Winds. He earned a PhD in

music theory from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). Mr. Partridge teaches horn at Portland State University and Clark College and is also the manager of music editorial at Oregon Catholic Press. He is raising two daughters with his wife, Katie.

Keith Winkle, tromboneMr. Winkle is an active performer and teacher in the Puget Sound area. He has played with Symphony Tacoma since 2008 and teaches trombone at Pacific Lutheran University. He is extremely appreciative of the

Symphony’s continuing efforts to create work for their members during this unprecedented time. Bravo, Symphony Tacoma.

Paul Evans, tubaMr. Evans has held the position of principal tuba with Symphony Tacoma for 20 years and has taught at Pacific Lutheran University for most of that time. He previously served as principal tuba of the Boise Philharmonic where he

also taught at Boise State University. He studied with Gary Ofenloch of the Utah Symphony and Steve Call at Brigham Young University. He lives in Fircrest, with his wife and daughters.

Tacoma City Ballet is honored to present four Act II Divertissements from The Nutcracker in collaboration with Symphony Tacoma. The

cotumes are historical replicas of those in the premiere production of 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the choreography is after M. Petipa the ballet’s original creator.
