CASE STUDIES

The Algonquin HotelNew York, New YorkThe Algonquin Hotel in Times Square has been a part of the

city’s history since the early 1900’s. The property has been

known for attracting literary and theatrical guests and has

served as a social sanctuary for over a century. Through the

years, the hotel has evolved to accommodate the changes of

the city and its guests. Accordingly, renovations were needed

to incorporate the current day conveniences. Maintaining the

building’s integrity and historical charm were paramount in

revamping the Algonquin Hotel.

The Challenge

Like many New York City buildings built in 1902, the

hotel’s design included small bathrooms that had very

low water pressure.

New products installed during the renovation needed to

be designed to fit the scale of the space. Additionally,

bath fittings would need to be manufactured to

accommodate the low water pressure and provide a

comfortable bathing experience.

The Solution

Using Symmons Design Studio,™ shower trim was created in an oval shape to appear smaller

when installed.

The showerheads were manufactured with pressure-compensating flow controls and

specially engineered nozzles to provide a better shower experience at lower flow rates.

Lavatory faucets were fitted with pressure-compensating aerators to accommodate the low

water pressures.

Base concepts for the bath fittings were selected from the Symmons Ideation Gallery and

modified with a “step” detail to add interest to the products and to coordinate with the

historic décor.

The Outcome

In 2012 the Symmons in-depth design process allowed for the creation of size-appropriate

shower trim and faucets for the space.

One-on-one interaction with the Symmons team guaranteed that the products manufactured

to accommodate the property’s unique operational requirements would meet the

expectations of the hotel guests.

Aulani, A Disney Resort & SpaKo Olina, HawaiiAulani, A Disney Resort & Spa at Ko Olina on the

beautiful island of Oahu exemplifies the possibilities

of using the Symmons Design Studio™. The look and

feel of the property was important in the development,

and décor was carefully selected to reflect the natural

beauty of the Hawaiian island. Symmons worked with

Disney’s Imagineering team to create products tailored to

enhance the island theme and coordinate with the resort’s

magnificent décor.

The Challenge

Disney had a specific design concept and color scheme

in mind for their new resort, making the product finish

process, color tone and overall durability very important.

The design team chose an Oil Rubbed Bronze finish for all

Symmons products. An earth-tone finish was used to unify

the colors of nature around and inside the resort.

The Solution

For 20 years, Disney has been installing the Symmons valve; in fact,

it is specified in new resort construction.

Using the Design Studio, Symmons created an Oil Rubbed Bronze

kitchen and bath package that enabled Disney to streamline

maintenance and customize products for each segment of their

property in the style and finish they desired.

The Outcome

In 2010, the property was outfitted with 4,200 Symmons products in Oil Rubbed Bronze

from lavatory faucets and showers to kitchen and bar faucets.

The collaboration of the U.S. Disney Imagineering team and the Symmons teams in Hawaii,

Massachusetts, California and Florida ensured the success of the project.

Casino Del SolTucson, ArizonaCasino Del Sol, a Forbes Four Star Travel

Guide award winner, and Leo A Daly design

collaborated with the Symmons design team to

create noteworthy bath fittings for the 215 room

hotel tower. The hotel design was derived from

the casino’s Tuscan style, which complements its

Sonoran desert surroundings. Paying attention

to the details, especially during the product

selection, helped the hotel achieve the prestigious

award for best in class in luxury hospitality.

The Challenge

The designers wanted products that

were organic and flowing with a custom

decorative finish to coordinate with the

Tuscan décor.

Keeping a reasonable price point influenced

the design process because they wanted a

custom finish.

The Solution

Symmons showed the design team

products similar to the style they were

After selecting a base concept, the design team focused on the parts of the fittings that

would be touched by the guest. The lavatory faucet, tub system and levers in the showers

were customized to suit the designer’s vision.

To maintain the budget, Symmons paired the custom items with products from the Ballina™

Collection because they were available in the Brushed Bronze finish selected for the project.

The Outcome

In 2011, Symmons created a custom product in a decorative finish combined with a stock

offering in the same finish and provided a complete bath suite within the design budget.

Courtyard by Marriott®North AmericaSymmons has proved to be a strong partner for the Marriott flag

and has been able to meet their operational and design needs

for many of their properties. The Courtyard by Marriott hotels

are no exception for the Symmons design team. After providing

a complete suite of both custom and premium product for the

Residence Inn properties, Symmons was asked to do the same

for Marriott’s Courtyard hotels.

The Challenge

The design expert on the Courtyard by Marriott hotels, Colum

McCartan of McCartan Design, envisioned a unique faucet as

the base for his bath concept.

The faucet needed to coordinate with the other bath

components and the bath design needed to be cost-effective

for the overall renovation package.

The Solution

Symmons Design Studio™ provided Colum McCartan with the

control and creativity he needed to successfully execute his design

and remain within budget.

In addition to providing custom faucets, Symmons made it possible to

complete the whole design with the many premium products offered

in its various collections.

The combination of custom and premium products made for a

one-stop-shop for Courtyard properties.

The Outcome

In 2013, the chrome finished low-flow faucets and shower systems were created using

Symmons Design Studio™.

The Symmons Dia™ accessories were selected to complement the contemporary look

Delta Meadowvale HotelMississauga, Canada

The Challenge

Both the Delta Meadowvale Hotel and Fairmont Le

Château Frontenac had Symmons valves installed

when renovations were planned. Each property

wanted to keep the existing valve but needed an

updated look for the bath.

The Delta Meadowvale had 374 rooms in need of

renovation and wanted a cost-effective way to

execute the upgrade.

The Symmons Safetymix® valve had been installed

in 618 rooms at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.

The valves were encased in a concrete wall, which

made the valve removal process labor-intensive.

The Solution

For the Delta Meadowvale Hotel, rebuild kits with a spindle

extension were used. This valve modification made it possible for the

contractors to re-tile over the existing tile.

The larger size of the valve installed in the Fairmont Le Château

Frontenac required custom trim, dome cover and handle. Alterations

were made to Symmons Dia™ products to size them for the Safetymix valve already installed

in the hotel.

The Outcome

In 2012, the Delta Meadowvale Hotel completed a soft remodel with the updated valves and

trim. With the spindle extension provided by Symmons, there was no additional expense for

removing the old tiles, making this potentially invasive remodel more cost-effective.

In 2013, the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac began the renovation process. With the

installation of the Symmons rebuild kit and the capability to modify existing product, the

hotel was able to keep the existing valve and update the bath design. The estimated cost

savings for eliminating the valve removal process was $500,000.

Four Seasons Hotel Las VegasLas Vegas, NevadaThe Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, located in Mandalay Bay,

was recently given a fresh, vibrant look inspired by the art deco

era. Keeping with the Four Seasons iconic style and luxury, the

renovation design plans were created to appeal to younger

travelers and the well-seasoned traveler. The design team at MGM

Resorts International, parent to Mandalay Bay, was heavily involved

in the product selection and worked closely with the Four Seasons

and Symmons to create a bath suite that enhanced the new look of

the guest rooms.

The Challenge

This 424-room property had several room types, each with

different bath layouts; requiring products to be developed into

a unified series.

The new bath design called for a unique product that is cutting

edge and included hints of traditional styling.

To achieve the aesthetics requested and provide easy

maintenance for the property, a custom product was specified

for this renovation.

The Solution

Symmons shower valves are the standard specification for all Four Seasons

properties. MGM’s decision to create a unique bath suite with Symmons was

the smart choice for this project.

The MGM design team collaborated with Symmons to conceptualize a

one-of-a-kind design for the hotel’s bath fittings. The final products feature

sleek lines with delicate curves, with an eclectic mix of contemporary and

traditional elements.

The Outcome

In 2012, the guest bath renovations were completed with a fresh new look

and with the installation of Symmons custom showers, lavatory faucets and

accessories.

The bath fittings for this project exemplified the vibrant, refined design of

the hotel. As a result, the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas earned a spot on

the “Top 20 Luxurious Bathrooms in Las Vegas” list in 2014.

The H Hotel Midland, Michigan The H Hotel located in Midland, Michigan is known for its top-

notch accommodations and meeting venues. As a destination for

many business travelers, comfort, style and function are important

to the guests.

The Challenge

To maintain its luxury status and its appeal to the demanding

business traveler, the renovation of this hotel was important and

details were critical.

This boutique hotel needed products that would differentiate the

property from the many other hotels in the area.

The interior design of the property called for bath products to be

functional, sophisticated and unique.

The Solution

Working with design firm, Anderson-Miller, Symmons created a

one-of-a-kind bath suite to outfit the guest bathrooms.

Using Symmons Design Studio™, the team created a timeless

design that reflected the hotel’s sophisticated style and

incorporated unexpected details.

The lavatory faucet features unique ridging on the top of the

spout as well as a step-layered base for the handles, adding

interest to the design.

To complement the lavatory faucet, a complete shower system

with hand shower was created, showcasing the same step-

layered base on the shower trim and wall mounts.

The Outcome

In 2013, 130 guest rooms and suites were renovated with

custom showers, lavatory faucets and accessories.

The new products are durable, easy to maintain and exemplify the chic style of the

property, further supporting the hotel’s claim that “The H Hotel is where convenience

meets extravagance”.

Hyatt The Loop Chicago HotelChicago, ILHyatt The Loop Chicago Hotel exemplifies the company’s

new lifestyle brand, Hyatt Centric®, and its focus on “modern

explorers”. Loop section of Chicago while offering a

serene escape from the hustle was a primary focus in the

development of this hotel.

The Challenge:

Since the philosophy behind the Hyatt Centric brand is

to make each hotel unique, it was apparent that custom-

designed products would be best suited for this project.

As one of the first Hyatt Centric properties to open, it was

important that this hotel’s design captured the city’s urban

vibe and the building’s historical characteristics. The interior

design is a mix of traditional features and contemporary

lines; both styles were to be showcased in the bath design.

The Solution:

Using the Symmons Design Studio™ and inspiration from

the Symmons premium Duro® products, a custom

design was created for the lavatory faucets, showers

and accessories.

By modifying an existing design to embody both

traditional styling and contemporary features,

Symmons created products that were completely

unique and a perfect complement to the hotel’s

overall design.

The bath needed a coordinating soap basket and

leveraging Symmons custom capabilities, a soap

basket was manufactured to complete the bath.

In 2015, Symmons outfitted 273 rooms at the Hyatt The Loop Chicago Hotel with

custom-designed products that embodied the unique style of the property.

With the creation of the soap basket, Symmons proved to be a partner that can

Hotel Omni Mont-RoyalMontreal, Canada

InterContinental Toronto CentreToronto, Canada

The Challenge

Both the Hotel Omni Mont-Royal and the InterContinental

Toronto Centre wanted to restore the properties to their state

of historic luxury.

The designs for the renovations called for custom,

contemporary bath products, specifically showers and lavatory

faucets.

During the InterContinental Toronto Centre project, alterations

to the project deadline were made which did not allow enough

time for custom product to be manufactured. Timely project

completion was critical because of the upcoming Toronto

International Film Festival.

The Solution

Symmons rebuild kits were the perfect solution for both

properties. Updating a few components of the existing valves

extended the life of the product.

Neither property had to remove the valves from the wall,

which resulted in significant cost savings.

Using Symmons Design Studio™, shower trim was created to fit the

refurbished valves and coordinating faucets were manufactured with the

modern look they desired.

The Outcome

In 2012, the Hotel Omni Mont-Royal was updated with a contemporary custom product for

the showers and lavatory faucets. The products complemented the hotel’s old world luxury

décor and restored the property to its former elegance and stature in downtown Montreal.

In 2013, Symmons suggested that the InterContinental Toronto Centre hotel install products

designed for the Hotel Omni Mont-Royal because the designs were similar in style and the

product was available.

The Hotel WilshireLos Angeles, California

The Challenge

A 74-room boutique hotel has the challenge of

differentiating itself from a wide variety of hospitality

competition in Los Angeles. Knowing that design is a

critical component to the guest experience, the hotel’s

design firm KNA Design contacted Symmons for a Design

Studio special project.

The limited budget on the project influenced how design

and product decisions were made. The client wanted

a custom look but it was not feasible to create a fully

custom suite.

The boutique hotel consists of 15 different room types,

including standard guestrooms, suites and the penthouse.

All bath fittings needed to have a cohesive look.

The Solution

During the design process, Symmons showed KNA and

Kellefer Flammang Architects bar faucets, wall-mounted

tub fillers and faucets, which had been created for a

property in Miami. The design was exactly what Kirk Nix

of KNA was seeking for the guest bathrooms.

Symmons was able to use product from the Miami project

to outfit some of The Hotel Wilshire rooms because of the

different layouts.

For the bulk of the project, Symmons created custom Polished Chrome single hole

faucets and lever handles for the shower.

The Outcome

In 2011, the hotel was outfitted with Symmons valves, shower trim, lavatory faucets,

wall-mounted roman tubs and bar faucets.

The Hotel Wilshire secured a spot in the top 50 best-designed hotels and was

acquired by the prestigious Kimpton® Hotel Group.

The products designed for The Hotel Wilshire became the inspiration for Symmons

Duro™ Collection.

L.A. LiveLos Angeles, CaliforniaWhen AEG, a leading sports and entertainment presenter, signed on to

develop the $2.5 billion, one-of-a-kind entertainment campus in Los Angeles

they committed to provide an unforgettable experience for its patrons.

Knowing that an unforgettable experience doesn’t have to end when L.A.

Live visitors leave the concert, convention or restaurant, AEG partnered with

architect Gensler and Barry Designs to custom design two luxury hotels and

high-end residences.

The Challenge

This multi-use property was unique because it had to accommodate

the J.W. Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel as well as the Ritz-Carlton

residences.

Through interior design, each segment of the property had to represent

their brand and provide the consistent experience their guests have come

to expect.

Simplifying installation, maintenance and renovations for a 54-story facility

was equally important in the product selection.

The Solution

AEG sought suppliers that could enhance the value of their investment and

keep operating budgets in check without compromising the design vision,

which is why AEG turned to Symmons Industries to provide bath fittings

for the 1,000 room multi-use property.

The installation of Symmons valves provided the opportunity for cost-effective and non-

invasive renovations in the future using the trim replacement program.

The showerheads were low-flow with pressure compensating flow controls and specially

engineered nozzles to provide a better shower experience at lower flow rates.

The Outcome

“The simplicity of installing and maintaining one plumbing product was a clear way for AEG

to add value to the building and keep the operating costs under control,” said John Coyle,

Project Manager for AEG.

In 2009, “Symmons was selected to provide the plumbing fittings for this multi-use property

because their pressure balancing valve is compatible with any Symmons trim. Our designers

and architects were able to use Symmons Design Studio™ to create customized bath fittings

that reflect the style represented in each segment of the property,” said Coyle.

The Liberty HotelBoston, MassachusettsThe transformation of Boston’s mid-19th century Charles Street Jail into the

luxurious 300-room Liberty Hotel required collaboration between the design

team and an army of historians to strike a balance between preservation of

the property and a dynamic new use.

The Challenge

Cognizant that the bathroom would be the most highly scrutinized aspect

of the overall guest room experience, Cambridge Seven senior associate

Jim Puopolo placed significant emphasis on ensuring that the guest

bathrooms would be both visually unique and functional. Said Puopolo,

“While there would be no effort spared in creating a superb bathroom

experience, cost was still a consideration. Aside from a design perspective,

we all agreed on a clean, modern, minimalist look.”

The Solution

The Symmons Design Studio™ offered a customized solution at a

reasonable cost. According to Puopolo, the process of working with

Symmons was virtually seamless. “When the Symmons representative

met with us, we discussed exactly what we didn’t like about the

fittings and accessories that had originally been proposed from

another vendor,” he explained. “Then we told them exactly what we

were looking for, and they just stepped to the plate and made the

appropriate modifications to the existing design.”

Working with Cambridge Seven to create the interior designs for the hotel was Winston Kong

of Alexandra Champilmaud & Associates. Kong relayed, “For the project we wanted a purist

industrial look for the bathroom fixtures that were true to the heritage of the property.” Added

Kong, “Symmons was easily able to make the needed adjustments with Design Studio and their

product was interchangeable with the behind the wall specifications established.”

The Outcome

In 2007, Puopolo praised Symmons’ ability to translate input from multiple sources into one

viable concept. “Everyone had some idea of how the fittings should look – us, the general

contractor, the plumbing contractor, and obviously the owner,” he said. “It couldn’t have been

easy to incorporate everyone’s thoughts into the final design, but Symmons managed to do it.

The second we looked at the prototype design, we were all happy.”

Mandarin OrientalNew York, New YorkWhen Mandarin Oriental Hotels decided

to open an exclusive address in New York

City, their vision called for an exceptionally

luxurious guest experience right down to

the tubs, showers and sinks.

The Challenge

The bathroom fittings had to convey the

sense of opulent luxury that guests enjoy

throughout their stay, while reliably

delivering the superb performance the

hotel’s wealthy clientele would demand.

The Solution

Like many Symmons Design Studio™ clients, the

Mandarin Oriental wanted a product that had

never been made before. So, it was up to the

Design Studio team to make the hotel’s design

vision come to life.

Our designers and engineers quickly responded

to the challenge, working closely with the hotel

owners in our design and development facility

to craft an elegant and unique suite of bathroom

fittings.

Within a month, hand showers, valves,

showerheads and diverters – all custom designed and custom manufactured – were refined,

tested and perfected. And just like every other aspect of a stay at the Mandarin Oriental New

York, the bathroom fittings can’t be found anywhere else in the world.

The Outcome

In 2008, the hotel’s 277 elegant, spacious guestrooms and suites feature two separate bath/

shower experiences. One is a ceiling-mounted drench showerhead and pulsating hand

shower; the other is a spa with a Roman Tub filler and deck-mounted hand shower. All are

outfitted with the beautiful and exclusive Mandarin Oriental fittings designed and built

through the Design Studio process.

Marriott Residence Inn®North AmericaFor two decades Symmons has been providing products for

Marriott properties across the country and Symmons products

are installed in approximately 10 percent of all Marriott hotels.

The Residence Inn hotels, designed to make extended stay

travelers comfortable, takes pride in offering a stylish suite

with the accommodations of home. Design firm Gensler of San

Francisco lead the Marriott Residence Inn design project and

turned to Symmons to create custom products for the current

generation of properties.

The Challenge

Gensler needed a specific glass shelf to complement their

bath design and complete the accessories for the guest bath.

Unable to find a vendor that supplied a glass shelf to fit their

needs, Gensler selected Symmons because of the Symmons

Design Studio™ capabilities.

The Solution

Gensler’s past experience with Symmons gave them

confidence that Symmons could provide the custom solution

they needed for the Residence Inn accessory line.

Symmons produced the glass shelf they needed and

presented other bath fitting options to complement the

accessories for a unified look.

The Outcome

In 2012, Symmons was able to provide a solution for Gensler

by customizing a line of accessories for their Residence Inn

design package.

In addition to offering unique accessories, Symmons outfitted the guest bathrooms with

faucets and shower systems from the premium Dia™ Collection.

The product flexibility, customization and reliability proved that Symmons was a valuable

partner and positioned Symmons as a strong resource for additional Marriott properties.

Omni Fort Worth HotelFort Worth, TexasThe Omni Fort Worth Hotel is a unique structure that has

changed the Fort Worth city skyline with its glass and stone

construction. The interior of the hotel is equally as impressive

and welcomes visitors with its Western Chic décor. Looney &

Associates was responsible for executing the design concepts

and product selection for the new hotel.

The Challenge

In order for Looney & Associates to make the guest

bathrooms leave an impression with visitors, they needed

something unique in the design.

The hotel’s interior color pallet consisted of muted earth

tones. An Oil Rubbed Bronze finish was selected for the

Symmons products.

There was also a need for various Polished Chrome bath

fittings throughout the hotel.

The Solution

Using Symmons Design Studio™ Looney & Associates

created a complete suite of products to renovate the

guest bath.

The Symmons Oxford™ Collection appealed to the

design team because of its structured lines and scale. The Oxford products served as the

inspiration for the custom bath fittings.

Designers used the Oxford styling for the base concept and modified the faucet handles and

spout using Symmons Design Studio. Symmons was able to create custom products in two

different finishes for the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.

The Outcome

In 2008, Symmons created tub/shower systems, lavatory faucets and a full line of accessories

for the hotel in both Polished Chrome and Oil Rubbed Bronze.

Shore HotelSanta Monica, CaliforniaShore Hotel, designed to accommodate both tourists and

business travelers, unveiled a one-of-a-kind design concept

on Santa Monica’s exclusive Ocean Avenue. The property’s

“U” shaped layout was created to incorporate the beauty of

its natural surroundings, but it is the hotel’s commitment to

sustainability that differentiates it among luxury boutique

hotels. Los Angeles design firm, Gensler, selected Symmons

to manufacture bath fittings for the hotel because of the

Design Studio™ custom product development process and

the company’s U.S. manufacturing facility.

The Challenge

Achieving LEED certification was an influential part of

the design process and impacted the decisions made on

showerheads and lavatory faucets. The hotel ownership

wanted to ensure that the product selection not only aided

in Gold LEED certification, but provided their guests a

comfortable bathing experience.

The Solution

Symmons design consultants were able to work one-on-one

with Gensler and the owners to create products that were

low-flow and featured a simple, clean design.

Using the Ideation Gallery, a database of Symmons designs, a concept was

selected and modified to achieve the look and functionality desired.

The property owners were able to test the products in the field and at home

to determine the right pressure for the showerhead.

The Outcome

In 2011, 1.75 gpm lavatory faucets and 2.0 gpm showers were installed

throughout the hotel. The lower flow rates reduced water consumption for

the property and contributed toward LEED certification.

The contemporary design of the bath fittings complemented the geometric

architecture throughout the hotel and the modern styling of the property.

Terranea ResortPalos Verdes, CaliforniaThe Terranea Resort, nestled on the gorgeous

coastline of Southern California, prides itself

on the ultimate tranquil resort experience.

The property offers visitors a variety of

accommodations, from resort guest rooms

to villas, bungalows and casitas. All guest

spaces epitomize tranquility and relaxation

while displaying the old world feel of the resort

through design.

The Challenge

For this multi-use property, the ease of maintenance and installation

with plumbing products was equally important to the management

as was the interior design.

Symmons was selected because of its reputation for high quality

products and safety shower valves. However, it was the tailored

solutions capabilities through the Symmons Design Studio™ that

added additional value to the project.

The Solution

Executives at Destination Resort & Hotels were able to create

tailored bath fittings for the whole property working with

Symmons. From the villas to the guest rooms, each design was

created specifically to suit that space, to enhance the overall

design and to make the guest experience more enjoyable.

With Symmons Design Studio tailored solutions, maintenance and bath design were

simplified for the resort. Symmons outfitted the property with durable, easy to maintain

products that provide the opportunity for many future design options, which is a great return

on investment for the property.

The Outcome

As of 2008, the Terranea guest bath designs created using Symmons Design Studio are

understated and elegant with clean simple lines that complemented the rest of the guest

bath décor. The bungalow designs are more traditional with intricate details and more

prominent sizing to better suit the larger space. The casita and villa bath fittings were a

combination of the styles. They feature a transitional design with traditional elements in the

high arched spout of the faucet and modern details on the faucet handles.

brand, Edition, all elements representing the brand

were carefully considered. To ensure the utmost

success in executing a refreshing new look and feel,

Marriott enlisted the expertise of design industry

leader Yabu Pushelburg.

Symmons and Yabu Pushelburg designers had

successfully collaborated on other hospitality

projects and once again teamed up to create

products that exemplify the Edition brand.

The Challenge

For this property, the guest’s experience stems from

the natural environment; the design elements are

simply a complement to that embedded beauty.

With that approach, the bath design was created

with a modern and delicate footprint.

Products selected needed to have an

uncomplicated design but showcase interest in their

own way.

The Solution

The bath fittings tailored for the hotel are sleek with

a touch of whimsy displayed in the defined arched spout of the lavatory faucet.

The coordinating accessories and shower system carried the same look and feel, allowing the

natural surrounding elements to influence the guest’s perception of the property.

The custom ability of Symmons Design Studio™ allowed for just the right amount of detailing

on each product.

The Outcome

Since 2009, the Marriott Waikiki Edition represents an individualized, refreshing and one-of-

a-kind approach to hospitality. The hotel is laced with its own sense of individuality and the

fixture design supports that uniqueness.

Custom products that are specific to the property’s design and guest experience help to

differentiate the brand.

W HotelSouth Beach Miami, FloridaMiami hotels are some of the hottest in the

country and unique designs differentiate one

hotel from another on Florida’s most stylish

beach. The W Hotel South Beach property,

offering 408 W-branded rooms, suites, and

residences serves as the flagship hotel for the

W brand globally and has set the standard for

cutting-edge designs and unsurpassed guest

experience.

The Challenge

The bath fittings for this property needed

to have contemporary styling that complemented the superior

urban design of the property.

The expansive glass enclosed shower required a custom shower

system.

Large Japanese soaking tubs required specialty wall mounted

tub spouts.

The Solution

Related Companies of New York worked with Symmons through

the Design Studio™ process to create faucets, shower systems

and accessories that incorporated the contemporary elements of

the property.

Custom tub spouts were manufactured to fit the height and size of the soaking tubs.

The single handle lavatory faucets are sleek with clean, bold lines that define them as their

own architectural element in the bath.

The Outcome

In 2008, Symmons provided the W Hotel with the plumbing fittings they needed to fully

customize their guest and resident interior designs. The tailored solutions generated

through the Design Studio process enhance the overall guest experience and contribute to

the “WOW” factor that guests come to expect from the W brand.

Windsor Court HotelNew Orleans, LouisianaFor over 20 years, Symmons products have been installed in

hospitality properties around the United States and the Windsor

Court Hotel is one of them. A project that was simply refurbishing

valves and updating trim became a complete custom job for

Symmons.

The Challenge

The Windsor Court Hotel was due for renovations and needed a

cost-effective way to update the guest bathrooms.

Design firm Flick • Mars wanted to work with a partner that could

provide flexibility, customization and consistency.

During the hotel renovation, it was important to keep the

traditional English décor in tact and coordinate with the overall

renovation design selections.

The Solution

Using Symmons Design Studio,™ Flick • Mars created a complete

suite of products to renovate the guest bath.

The Symmons Canterbury™ Collection appealed to the design

team because of its clean lines and subtle details. It became the

inspiration for the Windsor Court Hotel custom products.

Using Design Studio, Symmons created custom centerset and

widespread faucets to accommodate the previously purchased

countertops.

The Outcome

In 2011, the Symmons shower valves that existed in the hotel were updated with custom tub/

shower trim. New lavatory faucets and an accessory line were added to the project for a

complete suite.

Yotel/ MiMANew York, New YorkRelated Companies, Yotel Properties and The Rockwell Group of New York

worked together to develop the Manhattan project. The multi-use tower

consists of 151 condominiums, 663 rentals, known as the MiMA (Middle of

Manhattan), and 669 hotel rooms operated as Yotel.

The Challenge

The multi-use property had specific needs for each occupant, while

the brand aesthetics needed to be consistent. For the design team,

differentiating each space was critical in the development process.

The product engineering was an important part of the property’s

construction, specifically the flow rates needed to help achieve LEED

Gold status. Additionally, the maintenance in a property with 1,483 units

was a key influence in product selection.

The Solution

Using Symmons Design Studio™, the team was able to create products tailored for

each space in the building, with the look that Yotel desired.

The installation of the Symmons valve throughout the building offered simple

maintenance and fulfilled operational requirements. Symmons, in collaboration with

the engineering team, developed a product with targeted flow rates, which aided in

the LEED certification process.

The Outcome

In 2010, the Symmons team continued to support the development of the building.

Furthermore, Symmons provided on-site consultation through the installation

process, providing training for building engineers on the maintenance of the

products.

Throughout the project, many people in different roles were involved in the

creation of the products. The Symmons personal interaction with the project

team proved successful in helping everyone understand the products and how

they affect the operations and end user experience.

Envoy HotelBoston, Massachusetts

Housed in the Innovation District of Boston, the Envoy Hotel exemplifies the modern, forward-thinking

environment in which it exists. All design elements of the property evoke a “wow” factor in their own

way, further enhancing the visitor experience and earning the hotel the number one spot on the 2015

Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards.

The Challenge

The attention to detail in this hotel was the primary driver for the

interior design; each fixture had to be completely unique.

Polished Chrome products were specified for the bath fittings because

the finish complemented the modern look of the bath.

The design concept required additional engineering and

manufacturing steps.

The project called for a complete custom bath suite, including

tub/shower, lavatory faucets and accessories.

The Solution

Symmons Design Studio™ made it possible to design a

full custom bath suite in the finish, scale and style requested.

Specific engineering requirements were incorporated into the

design to marry functionality and aesthetics. Symmons created a

tub/shower system that housed the valve and diverter under one

trim plate, streamlining the design.

A custom faucet was created to fit the vessel bowl selected for

the bath.

The Outcome

In 2015, this one-of-a-kind luxury hotel opened with a contemporary

design that was clearly showcased in the Symmons custom-outfitted

bathrooms.

The bath fittings are the perfect example of the design-forward

thinking that lives throughout the property.
