STEP 3Connect power supply

Plug the power cables into the back of theappliance

Plug the other ends of the power cablesinto a surge protected power source.

Power up the appliance using the power button in the lower right of the appliance

Use a screwdriver and the provided screws to attach the NetBackup Deduplication Appliance to your existing rack.

Do one of the following:• For a 1GB network, connect an Ethernet cable to NIC 2• For a 10GB network, connect a fiber optic cable to the top port of the vertically mounted PCI card (NIC3)

Then connect the other end of the cable to yourcorporate network.

Connect an ethernet cable to port NIC 1 onthe back of the appliance. Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to a laptop computer.

If you have multiple appliances to install and configure or if you do not have a working DNS environment, proceed to Chapter 2 of the Symantec NetBackup Deduplication Appliance Software Getting Started Guide found on the USB stick.

Otherwise, continue to the Software configuration.

STEP 1Navigate to Local Area Connection

Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

On the laptop, open a web browser to the following URL:http://192.168.1.1/Installer

and affirm the security exception for the installer

Type "root" for the username and "P@ssw0rd" as the password (without the quotation marks). The sixth character in the password is a zero.

Click the Start the network configuration wizard button

Start the network configuration wizardClick Next to start the configuration; when it completes, click Finish Finish>

If all the license keys that pertain to thisstorage pool are displayed, click Next.

Otherwise, click Add License and add the license key provided by Symantec.

Before you begin Hardware configuration

Software configuration

Enter a unique name for thestorage pool. Enter a description

for the storage pool(optional).

Accept the defaultsfor Location and Department.

Enter the FQDN of the NTP server(optional)

Enter and confirmthe SPA password.

Enter the FQDN of the SMTP server

The appliance is configured. See the post installation steps in Chapter 2 of the Symantec NetBackup Deduplication Appliance Software Getting Started Guide found on the USB stick.

You are now ready to integrate the appliance into your backup environment and add clients.

Secure the rails to the rack using screws.See the included packing list for complete contents of the package.

Launch the storage pool configuration wizardand complete the Topology Discovery screen

Select the interface that corresponds with the NIC you used in step 4 of the hardware configuration.

NIC2 = eth1 – NIC3 = eth2

(Optional) Enter the DNS server and search domain information provided by the network administrator

Click Next on the Welcome screen

Click the Start the storage pool configuration wizard button

On the Topology Discovery screen, enter the FQDN for the storage pool.

Click Next to continue

Review the information displayed on the screen

If it is incorrect, click Back.If everything is correct, click Next.
