upcoming changes to the Ohio Fire Code (2017), provided new construction building tours to the fire crews at the new King Branch Library in Sylvania and worked with the

Township Administrator and Road Superintendent to start a hydrant clearing program.

A number of fire hydrants in the community have been found to have landscaping blocking them, rendering them unable to be used. Letters will be sent to the home

owner to have them cleared. If they are not after 30 days, the road department will clear the landscaping to make the hydrant visible and available to be used for an

emergency.

FIRE TRAINING BUREAU

Achieving proficiency and professionalism through training and education.

Your Sylvania Township Fire Department has highly trained professionals that conduct

Extensive year-round training activities to maintain and improve their skills

In a variety if disciplines to help our personnel to perform the wide variety of missions they

may be assigned as the role of the Firefighter-Paramedic continues to evolve.

We are continuing to develop our Training Programs to instill a standard format. Although there

was no LCEMS CE during the month of July, we had a very busy month. While building upon

skills we covered in June, we continue out focus to incorporate our newer employees to refine

the hands-on skills that they need to be successful.

All Personnel attended training at an acquired structure donated by one of our personnel on

Crissey Rd. that covered scenario-based VES hands-on training combining multiple skills

including: Engine Co. Pump Operations & Trouble-shooting, Single Line-deployment,

multiple-line deployment, hose pulls & proper reloading; incident command, and

communications, Aerial & Ground ladder operations.

A review of T64: our multi-function Aerial-Heavy Rescue Apparatus, covered all of the

equipment, tools and their functions; then Aerial Operations the following week. A new program

called OH-Trac was reviewed by all personnel and implemented at the Toledo Air Show to assist

with tracking patients in the field.

The EOP for both fireworks shows and LPGA were finalized, then reviewed and implemented by

all personnel.

The Bi-annual PPE rotation, cleaning, and inspection wew conducted by the Officers. Training

with the Lifeguards at the JCC, Olander Park and the Sylvania Country Club was also conducted

during July.

The ability to improve our service is generated through many ideas and initiatives that originate from
