Topics include: dominant and non-dominant seventh chords, secondary dominants, tonicization, and modulation. TEXTBOOK Roig- Francoli, Miguel. Harmony in Context. New York: McGraw-Hill, 2003. This text comes in two parts: a textbook and a workbook. Both are required and are available at the campus bookstore. They are also on reserve in the Music Library. GRADING AND MISC. Homework 50% Midterm 15% Analysis Paper 10% Final 25% Attendance -10% Homework assignments are due the day under which they are listed on the Course Schedule below. Late work will be accepted as late as the third lecture after an assignment is due. All late work will be marked down proportionately to the lateness with which it is turned in; late work submitted after the third lecture will not receive credit. Please write your name and the date on each assignment you turn in. Be sure you xerox pages from the workbook you will need after I have collected the previous assignment. Three unexcused absences will result in ten points being deducted from your final grade (which ideally should equal 100 points). Lives are unpredictable. Tell me beforehand when you must miss class, and I will tell you whether the absence counts as excused.
