It includes the basic nursing skills needed in the care of individual clients. Contact Hours/Sem: 54 hours lecture (3 units) Prerequsite: General Chemistry, Theoretical Foundations of Nursing Placement: 1 st Year, 2 nd Semester Grading System: Deportment/Attendance/Recitation: - 5% Short & Long Quiz - 50% Final Exam - 40% Assignment - 5% 100% Course Objectives: At the end of the course, and given actual or simulated situations, the student should be able to: 1. Utilize the nursing process in the care of individuals, families and communities. 2. Communicate effectively with patients/clients, families as well as other members of the health team in various settings. 3. Demonstrate leadership and management skills to ensure safe and quality nursing care. 4. Relate effectively with others in work situations. 5. Utilize concepts, theories, and principles in the care of clients. 6. Ensure a well-organized, accurate recording and reporting system. 7.
