OOOO n May 4th, our club headed to Cooper County Missouri to

tour the Warm Springs Ranch, the breeding home of the Bud-weiser Clydesdales. It is in a beautiful part of Missouri - over 350 acres of rolling hills and miles of white fence. In the distance you could see some of the yearlings. We were greeted warmly by the staff and each given a rubber wrist band that we could keep. Then we drove our cars down to the barns. Warm Spring Ranch is amazing from the moment you arrive at the gate.

It is a beautiful country setting right off interstate 70,

so is was very easy to find. All the guides and ranch staff are very knowledge-able and per-sonable. The Clydesdales are all very friendly and seem to like the attention from visitors. Even the foals came to the fence line so we could pet them and take pictures. The ranch is the cleanest working ranch you will ever visit and the landscaping is beautiful. The tour took just over an hour. It is a very easy walking tour with level sur-

faces. The tour guide explained the breed-ing and transport-ing proc-esses for t h e h o r s e s . The ba-bies stay at Warm Springs for two years. They are used to being han-dled a lot and also

used to seeing lots of people

On site they have some of the semi trailers that travel with the horses. One trailer is for the equipment - just one of the harness, halter etc can be worth $100,000!

As usual there is an of-fer of Budweiser beer at the conclusion of the tour, of which we did partake. We also had additional time to take pic-tures with the horses.

Since it was going to be difficult to find a restaurant on a Saturday afternoon to ac-commodate over 60 people, we all headed to various res-taurants in Boonville or Co-lumbia for lunch.

The weather was cool but the rain stayed away, and the tour was a great way to spend a day.

Special thanks go out to Bill and Barb Giese for set-ting up our very successful tour.

On May 5th, members of our club participated

in the Valley of Flowers Parade in Florissant

Missouri. We must have been blessed as the

rain stopped about 10 minutes before the pa-

rade started and did not start again until the

parade was over. We were only allowed six vehi-

cles and the rain kept two away. Members

and family participating included Dan Kelly and

grandkids, Jake Turnipseed and Jo Ann, Ed and

Julie Mauzy and kids with the bubble machine,

and Donna and Bob Layton. Carrying the club

banner ahead of our vehicles were Linda and

Jeff Dickson, daughter and son-in-law of Dan.

We thank Dan Kelly for setting up this event.

OOOO ur month will start with the Show-Me Mustang Club Car Show that will

be held on June 1st. The event location has been changed to Pundmann Ford in St. Charles. We will meet at the QT located just north on First Capitol Drive from Highway 70, on the right. (exit 228). This is a judged show. We will meet at 8:30 am and be leaving by 8:45 am. On June 8th, we will at-tend the Mustang Club of St. Louis Car Show that will be held at the Museum of Transportation on Barrett Station Road. We will meet at the Sugar Creek Park at 9 am and we will be leaving at 9:15 pm. The park is located at Dougherty Ferry Road and Des Peres Road. Exit Highway 270, west to the intersection at the traffic light. Turn right to entrance. This will also be a judged show. On June 15th, we will be trying something different. How about a morning cruise? Be-tween 8:15 and 10:15 am, we will attend the Coffee and Cars Cruise that will be held at the Starbuck’s located at Manches-ter and McKnight Road. Just feast on some ex-pensive coffee and talk some car talk and you still have the rest of your day.

We will also be doing a evening cruise. On June 22nd, we will attend the Culver’s Cruise located at Richardson Road just off Highway 55. Club members Paul Arca will DJ and Don Hricko organized this event. The cruise starts at 5 pm. Come and go as you like but our best chance to park together would be to be there by 5 pm. All of these events are eligible for club points.

TTTT he Mid America Ford Nationals will be held June 12th-16th in Tulsa Oklahoma. This is a club event as we normally have

members who attend. Unfortunately, from what we have heard, is that if you don’t have hotel reservations by now, you probably won’t be able to get them.

BBBB esides being the major sponsor of our car show, Dave Sinclair Ford has offered our club an incentive plan. For each car or

truck sold by Sinclair and referred by our club, we will receive a $50 check to go towards our car show. Through our club, we can offer additional savings on the purchase of a new car at their dealership.

If you, family or friends are interested in a new Ford, please contact Ron Schodroski or any board of directors member. If you go directly to the dealership, please ask for Charlie Foster.

IIII f you are planning on attending our Marceline Tour that will be held on August 24-25, you will need to reserve you room at the Super 8

in Macon. Their phone number is 660-385-5788. Tell them that you are with Fords Unlimited. The rate is $55 if we book 5 rooms and $50 if we re-serve 10 or more. We have found that not only is there going to be a demolition derby, there will also be a car show to view that afternoon. If you have any questions, please contact Dan Kelly.

AAAA new event for our club this year was the Salute to the Troops Car Show to benefit Veterans that was held at the VFW Post 5077 in O’Fallon, Missouri. Several of our members took home trophies including Jake Turnipseed who won 3rd in stock, Duck Steavenson who

took 2nd in stock, Kenny Simms who took 2nd in Best Custom and 1st in Modified, and Scott Lewis who took the Soldiers Choice trophy with his American Spirit Mustang. The big winner was Bill Bufka who won $148 in the 50-50. Sadly, we had a control arm go out on Jack Greiwe’s Ford just as we approached the show. Jack made it to the show but his car didn’t. Our club had a great turnout with 19 cars and trucks and Jack’s car there in spirit only. Club members, Scott and Lynette Lewis chaired the show with help from Kenny and Gwen Simms and Mark and Sandy Carey. Gwen Simms and Sandy Carey

TTTT he best news for this month is that Dave Sinclair

Ford will again be the major sponsor of our July 28th car show. Club member Ron Schodroski, had worked very hard on this sponsorship and we are very thankful to Ron and Sinclair Ford for their participation in our car show. We will be ordering a limited amount of car show shirts. If you want to be assured that you will have a shirt, please contact Cindy Ahrens or any board of directors member. Our 50-50 winner for May was Sandy Carey who won half of our $48 pot. She promptly donated the $24 to our December Toy Drive. Thank you Sandy.
