Unique Left-to-Rear Airflow

• Increases air resistance by 25% as rack sides block

the air. The coefficient of performance (COP) value is

low: only 0 to 20.

• Mixes cold and hot air in the right chassis, causing a

3℃ to 5℃ temperature increase at the air intake.

• Uses low-efficiency fans that have small diameters

and run at a high speed. The fans have limited heat

dissipation capability for slots, make a lot of noise,

and provide low reliability. The system cannot work

properly when one fan module fails.

COP = Chassis Power Consumption/Heat Dissipation Power Consumption

A larger COP value indicates less energy used for dissipating heat and a higher heat dissipation efficiency.

• Optimizes cold and hot air channels in the

equipment room and reduces interference among

devices.

• Reduces air backflow and improves heat

dissipation efficiency. The COP value is higher

than 50.

• Uses high-efficiency fans that have large

diameters and run at a low speed, reduces the

number of fans by more than 30% and noise by 5

dB to 10 dB. The system can still work properly

Customer benefits The power-scheduling data network in Zhejiang Province is an

important part of the power system infrastructure and the basis for

implementing automatic scheduling and modern management. The

network ensures secure, stable, and cost-effective operation of the

power grid. Hardware robustness has a direct influence on scheduling

services of the provincial network. This reconstruction project greatly

reduces hardware risks and ensures proper scheduling services for

the provincial network.

Customer requirements During the 10 years since the power scheduling data network in

Zhejiang Province was set up, it has expanded to include devices for

power scheduling across the province and 11 areas. The network

connects to 29 uniform scheduling power plants. During the 10 years,

the power scheduling data network has been reconstructed and

maintained, but performance of multiple devices has degraded and

they require upgrade or replacement.

Huawei solution Replace old devices in 2011 with 2 million CNY worth of new

devices, including 21 NE20-4 routers, 3 NE20E-8 routers, 11

AR3200 routers, 9 S7700 switches, 30 S5700 switches, and 56

S3700 switches.

Customer benefits Huawei eSight saves significant customer maintenance costs. S7700s in 1+1 backup mode at the core layer provide high reliability. S5700-LI switches at the access layer lower customer investments and customer O&M costs with energy conservation features.

Customer requirements Fire Protection Consultants (FPC) is an independent consultancy and engineering company providing fire-related safety services. Huawei cooperated with contractor GDF SUEZ through the agent Quentris and provided a scalable network solution for the customer.

Huawei solution A CSS with two S7700s functions as the core of the office network. Stacking S5700-LI switches function as access switches. E-Trunks between the access and core layers implement dual-homed link protection.
