Behaviour in the event of a fire

This protective layer limits the amount of conducted and convected heat that is transferred and reduces the temperature on the unexposed side.

Cross section of SCG SWISSFLAM fire protection glazing with frame and glazing components. The definition and names of the system components can be found in the corresponding fire test.

The glass seals off an area, so that in the event of a fire the passage of flames, smoke and gases will be prevented. The amount of radiated heat will be reduced.

The interlayer, which is based on nanotechnology, begins to form an opaque insulating protective layer.

Initially the fire causes the glass pane that is towards the fire-side to break due to the stress on the glass.
