Challenges and rewards
60
Difficulties
• Quantifying the ROI • Convincing the stakeholders• Change management• Management of training• Quality of the project management /
contract management• Poor implication by sub-contractors
Advantages
• Better quality of construction work• To try it is to adopt it• Splitting LOG from LOI improves
user experience• Easier commissioning with sub-contractors• Improvement of Health & Safety onsite
> better identification of risk situations> Automation for riskier activities
• New opportunities with > Drones> Scans> Robots> IOT
LOSINGER MARAZZI – BIM: Converting concept into practice | Swiss Re Institute - 27 February 2018
Lessons learned
LOSINGER MARAZZI – BIM: Converting concept into practice | Swiss Re Institute - 27 February 2018 61
Digital
• open BIM and split of LOG / LOI• ICT coordinator• Right software for the right need• BIM execution plan
Organization
• Each partner has their own model• Clear understanding of new roles• Voluntary basis and team training
Collaboration
• Workshop to define project use cases• Validation on 2D printed documents (issued from 3d models)
Risks management
LOSINGER MARAZZI – BIM: Converting concept into practice | Swiss Re Institute - 27 February 2018 62
Digital• Quality of softwares• Availability and compatibility of the releases of softwares• Hacking: network, models, data base…
Human• Actors or contributors authorisation / accreditation• Modelling without understanding• Blind trust in softwares and their results/reports
Common sense• Wrong understanding of the user needs or user behaviours (comfort, mobility, energy)
Contract• Organization of the BIM management and related interfaces
