    Swinging Z-Fold Cardby Beate Johns

    Create a unique card with some cuts and an extra score line.

    Supplies

    Scor-Pal or other scoring tool

    4 1/4" x 8 1/2" Cardstock

    4 1/2" x 9" Cardstock (optional)

    Three 4 1/4" pieces ofpatterned paper

    Scor-Tape or other strong adhesive

    Craft knife and cutting mat

    Cutting die (Spellbinders Nested Hearts

    used here)

    Additional cardstock for main image

    Step-by-Step

    Step 1

    Score the 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of

    cardstock at 2 1/8"

    and then at 4 1/4".

    Step 2

    Adhere one of the patterned paper pieces to

    the unscored side of the cardstock base.

    Step 3

    Apply adhesive on the scored side of thecardstock base. Add additional adhesive on the

    outer panel.

    Apply patterned paper over the adhesive.

    Step 4

    Score panel again at 2 1/8". It will make

    folding the side easier later.

    Step 5

    Turn the cardstock over. Apply adhesive, andagain add more adhesive on the outer panel.

    Adhere last piece of patterned paper over the

    section.

    Optional:

    Score the side again at 2 1/8".

    Step 6

    Fold scored side of the card base.

    Step 7

    Place die template in the center of the folded

    side of the cardstock. Trace shape onto the left

    panel of the scored side.

    Step 8

    Cut traced shape out on the left hand side.

    Hint:

    If you have a hard time cutting through three

    layers, trace and cut shape before the last

    piece of patterned paper is adhered. Then

    adhere paper piece and cut through the last

    piece.

    Step 9

    Cut and decorate shape using the same die,

    cut out ofadditional cardstock. Adhere shape

    to the center of the folded card side.

    Step 10

    Decorate the inside of the card.

    Step 11

    If desired, adhere to a bigger card base or

    square.

    Variations

    Simple Z-fold Card

    Skip Steps 7 to 9. Adhere main image over the center of the folded side.

    Different Sizes

    You can create any size card into a Z-fold card. Just score your cardstock at 1/4" and 1/2" of its length.
