Aaron Peirsol thought he would quietly ease into his retirement from competitive swimming. He succeeded for a few months, and in this in-depth Feb. 10 interview with the Morning Swim Show host Peter Busch, Peirsol gives his reasons for retiring, which date back to as far as the 2009 World championships. Though vague about his future plans, Peirsol is confident he will maintain a close link with swimming for the rest of his life. Hell even be at some of the big meets to cheer on his successors to the crown of backstroker supreme. Split Time Guest: SwimNews Craig Lord
The official announcement of Ian Thorpes comeback was just the latest in a long list
of Olympians making a return to competition. With all these comebacks come
interesting topics of debate. How do these moves impact the publics interest in the
sport of swimming? Are these athletes rediscovering a passion for the sport, or
failing to discover any passion outside of the sport?
Also, what about the hot topic in sports these days,
performance-enhancing drugs? If athletes are able to go through long periods without testing, how can
we not be suspicious in this day and age? To discuss
these topics and more we talked with craig Lord from
SwimNews.com.
Streamlined News brings you the top stories each week-day from the aquatic community in a concise format that allows you to keep in tune with the news as it happens.
