Personal Training
As part of Cape Fear Valley Health, HealthPlex follows hospital protocol when it comes to keeping the facility clean everyday! Everything from the toys in the Play Center, to the countertops at the Juice Bar and the handrails going into the pool is wiped down and sanitized numerous times throughout the day. We pay close attention to the fitness machines and accessories too when santizing. While cleaning has always been an on-going process, the HealthPlex staff has increased our disinfecting efforts to provide members a safe and welcoming environment.
All members are advised to take proactive measures to minimize their risk of contacting a virus. Such measures include: wiping down fitness equipment, both before and after working out; washing hands with soap and water after exercising; and keeping hands away from the face. Cavi-wipes, as well as towels, gloves, and hand sanitizers, are located throughout the facility for members’ convenience. If you are not feeling well, please be mindful of others and do not work out in the facility until you are better.
Once Easter is over, what is one to do with the colored eggs? Hard boiled eggs are quite nutritious…full of lean, complete protein and packed with vitamins & minerals. They are fairly low in calories (77 per egg) and high in dietary cholesterol, which does not cause blood cholesterol levels to rise.
Adding a nutrient dense food choice like hard boiled eggs to your eating plan can be one of the simplest, healthiest additions you make to your diet. Combining two or three hard-boiled eggs with a generous serving of vegetables makes a complete, 300-calorie meal at lunch or dinner time that is ready in just minutes! Instead of heading out the door in the morning on an empty stomach, consider reaching for a hard-boiled egg. This will satisfy your appetite for hours and give you the energy you need to push on through the day.
Germ-Fighting Tactics Easter Eggs
The HealthPlex will be closed on Sunday, April 12. HAPPY EASTER!!
Workout MusicFor days when you need a little extra motivation, your favorite playlist may be exactly what you need. Selecting the right tunes can keep you in the workout groove for miles, so it’s important to choose songs that are tailored to your taste and rhythm. Exercising to energizing music can increase your workout time, as well as reduce your perceived effort during challenging workouts. Set up your personal playlist now so you can get started with those spring workouts!
For the past year, Gina Orme, 57, has been working out at HealthPlex to help tone her body and increase her cardiovascular endurance.
Orme started working out with the encouragement of her friend, and now workout buddy, Eric. The two work out five days a week focusing on all muscle groups. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the pair com-plete strength training machines and on Tuesdays and Thursdays they do cardio and core workouts.
Through increased exercise and reduction of daily caloric intake, Orme has not only dropped weight but she has seen her blood pressure de-crease too.
"HealthPlex is such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere," said Orme. "It's one of the reasons I stay motivated to keep going."
