UMW, SISTERHOOD of GRACE
Sweetheart Bake Sale nets over
seven hundred dollars! We are so
grateful to everyone that brought
and/or bought items. Our local
mission projects to benefit from the
bake sale include: Blessings in a
Backpack, HANK, Adera, college
students, active military, Wraps of
Love, card ministry and nursing
home residents.
On Wednesday, February 6, 2019,
at 2:00 p.m. in the Wisdom of the Word Classroom eight United Methodist Women met for the monthly
meeting Pastor Joyce McCormick presented the program “Sisterhood of Human Flourishing”. A very
interesting discussion followed as our unit recognized serious issues that Americans are challenged
with daily. A letter was drafted to be a written
record of what this unit of believers feels could be
part of the solution.
We look forward to our next meeting to be held
March 6th at 2:00 p.m. in the WOW classroom.
Imogene Meyers will lead the Call to Prayer and
Self Denial program. Our hostess will be Janice
Waits.
Plans are currently underway for the UMW and
MYF Style Show and Luncheon to be held
Sunday, April 7, 2019 following Sunday School.
We would like to interested in participating in the style
show, please give Mary Heiligman (830) 584-2057 or Karen Muennink (830) 426-4998 a call.
God’s Peace,
Karen Muennink

Church Family,
Words cannot express how grateful we are for you! You lifted
us up in prayer, fed us, called us and just over all loved us through
the hard days of our Dad, Bob Moody, being in the hospital and
then joining Jesus on January 10th, 2019. He was not a member
at New Fountain, but our Mom was and he helped out with the
Logos Program years ago and loved that we were a part of this
great group of people.
The music by the Joyful Noise, the Special by Jamie Kindred,
Garry Allen & Mark Wiemers, the beautiful service by Pastor Joyce and all you sweet ladies & gentlemen that
made cookies, cakes, sandwiches, etc. & helped put the reception together, Thank You!
In the good times and the rough times we know that God is in control and you helped remind us of that
and showed us what Christian friends are all about!
We love and truly appreciate all of you and forgive us if we have forgotten anyone - our cups runneth
over!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped to make the Cornerstone Assistance Network of Hondo Fundraiser a great success! Whether you sold or bought meal tickets, made a dessert (or two) for the bake sale, barbequed the chicken (best ever!), cooked beans or transported food to

What is Stephen Ministry? Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.
• Is life more than you can handle alone right now? • Are your health, your attitude, or your relationships suffering? • Are you adjusting to a new job, a change in marital status, a serious illness,
the death of a loved one, a recent move? • Would you like to have someone in your life who really cares?
Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, to listen, to share God’s love with you can help you get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness you may be experiencing.
If you have questions about Stephen Ministry, please contact Margaret Oefinger, Peg Tindall, or Pastor Joyce.

Volunteers In Mission Training March 30, 2019
Fredericksburg UMC 1800 N. Llano, Fredericksburg, TX 78624
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) is a grassroots movement within The United Methodist Church designed to provide an official channel whereby Christians, both lay and clergy, may offer their skills and talents for Christian service at home and around the world on short term assignments at their own expense. Their work includes construction and renewing of mission facilities, teaching, witnessing, conducting medical clinics, conducting Bible study or Bible School for children, and serving in disaster relief efforts around the world.
An Early Response Team is a special type of VIM Team An Early Response Team has a very narrow function and has no management or administrative responsibility for the overall disaster response. An Early Response Team is a specially trained and certified team called to do early response. Early Response Teams (ERT) are specially trained teams that offer assistance soon after the disaster strikes. They generally do clean -up work and tasks required to stop further damage from being done, e.g. putting tarps on damaged roofs. They might do minor repairs that help make homes habitable, but they do not do extensive repairs or reconstruction (that is the job for Long Term Recovery). An “Early Response Team” should not be confused with a Disaster Recovery Team.
A Disaster Recovery Team is a type of UMVIM Team that comes to assist in the long term recovery, AFTER early response is completed.
As the continued needs continue as the results of Hurricane Harvey in the Coastal Bend, we are having a UMVIM TRAINING to prepare teams to go into these same areas for up to five more years in the future. This training is offered to a team from a local church, or several nearby churches, or individuals from a local church who want to be trained and present this ministry to their local church.
Registration is through the Hill Country District office by: email – [email protected] mail – 222 Sidney Baker South, Ste. 528, Kerrville TX 78028 Telephone - 830-896-6400
Cost of the training: $30 – include lunch, manual and resources. Church teams can pay for one (1) manual and then just for the lunch $11.00 per person. Any of the team wanting their own manual will have to pay $30. You may mail payment to Hill Country District or pay at the door.
If you have any questions feel free to contact:
• Pam Elliott, Hill Country District VIM Coordinator-dispro512@gmail. Com • Abel Vega, RTC Mission Vitality Outreach Director – [email protected]
