5- A Thing Called RainNOTES: Capo on 2nd fret. Pretty difficult way of finger picking. The chords that the picking is centered around are D, A7, E, G. You can strum them instead of picking them, but it wont sound as much like it. I wrote out the first two sequences, and it just repeats. He varies the pattern a little bit each time, but for the most part, this is how it goes:

I kept your picture in a frame, I kept your heart out on a chainBut hearts don’t belong on chains, and pictures don’t belong in frames

People come and people go, foe to friend and friend to foeAnd you do just what you’re supposed to do, cause the clock don’t ever stop for you

Page 9: Sweet Somewhere Bound

and she thinks she knows me well, for 6 nights in a cheep motelshe gave her heart away for free, she gave it all away to me

now I’m needle dancing on a pin, match under my heals againnot every bird will sing for you, no matter how you ask her to

I can’t believe the way she acts, she doesn’t even know the factsBut ain’t that the way it goes, you’re telling truths in liars clothes

Born and raised and born again, I can’t tell you why or whenBut everything will happen twice, sure as fire plain as ice

So I’ts broken hearts and dusty roads, somewhere there my soul explodes With every peace of every day, everything I meant to say

And where I’ll be no one can tell, I’m fishing in a wishing wellI’m doing the best I can, I hope you’ll understand.

I seen the lights that shine, countless colors in my mindThey climb and swim and spark and glow, and ask me what it is I know

Well I know a thing called love, a thing called thunder in the sky aboveAnd I know a thing called pain, I know a thing called rain

7- I Don’t Care About My BabyNOTES: Capo on 3rd fret. Same pattern is played throughout the song. It’s very difficult to get the hang of it, but once you do, man, this song is bad ass. When listening to the recording, notice the sound that comes on the off beats (2 and 4), this is simply Jackie slapping his guitar while he is playing. This is very important to master if you want the song to sound exactly like Jackie plays it. On some of the tricky parts, I’ll add in the finger that you’re supposed to use underneath the tab. 1=index, 2=middle, 3=ring, 4=pinky. There are some notes that he plays right before the measure starts so I had to alter the way the tabs look from previous songs, but it should be pretty obvious what I’m trying to get across.

LEGENDS=slide. So 3s5= start on 3rd fret and slide up to the 5th fretH=hammer. So 0h2= start with no finger down and hammer finger down on 2nd fret.P=pluck. So 2p0= start with finger planted on 2nd fret and then when you let go, pull off hard on the string you let go with so it makes a sound without strumming it. The sound is made without right hand strumming the string. ~=let ring

There was a time when you cared for meHoney there was a time you prepared for meThose days are gone honey they’re down the drainYou got to find someone else to call your name

I don’t care about my babyShe don’t care about meI don’t care about my babyShe don’t care about me

There was a time when you loved me soHoney there was a time you wouldn’t let me goThose days are gone honey I’m well awareThose days are gone but I just don’t care

I don’t care about my babyShe don’t care about meI don’t care about my babyShe don’t care about me

Someday soon and I wont be longSomebody gonna hurt you somebody gonna do you wrongYou’ll be cryin honey don’t you come my wayI’ll look at you and laugh honey and then I’ll say

9- Seven Jealous SistersNOTES: Capo on 5th fret. This song needs a whole band to play in order for it to get the full effect. I’ve never seen Jackie play this solo. This doesn’t mean he never has, just that I’ve never heard it. I wrote the chords in with the first two verses, but the pattern repeats so I only wrote the lyrics. There’s a little riff that he plays before each verse and I’ll call it “riff.” Here are the chords and the riff:

10- Emily’s in HeavenNOTES: Capo on 3rd fret. The song is mostly chords, but there is a recurring sequence that I will call “step down.” Also, there is a part that comes before each verse; I’ll call it “intro.” Here are the chords, intro, and the step down.
