(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OFTRAFFIC) ORDER 2014
Notice is hereby given that the Newport CityCouncil in exercise of its powers under the RoadTraffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), intendnot less than seven days from the date of thisNotice to make an Order the effect of whichwill be to prohibit any vehicle from proceedingalong Church Lane, Marshfield (from its southernjunction with Marshfield Road for a distance ofapproximately 50 metres).
The alternative route is via Marshfield Road andthe northern junction of Church Lane.
The reason for making the Order is to enable anew highway drainage connection to be made ona road too narrow to maintain vehicular traffic.
The proposed Order will be operative from22 April 2014 and will continue in force for aperiod not exceeding eighteen months or untilthe works which it is proposed to carry out havebeen completed, whichever is the earlier.
NB. It is anticipated that the works will becompleted within 5 days. Pedestrian accesswill be available along the closed sectionof road whilst works are being carried out.Emergency vehicle access will be available,or quickly made available – as a through route– whilst works are in progress, however, theroad will be impassable during the eveningdue to open excavations.
