WELCOME Hello and welcome to St George State High School, the venue for the 2021 South West School Sport 10-19 Years Track & Field selection trials. These trials provide the opportunity for a team to be selected to represent the South West region at the Queensland State Championships in Brisbane in October.
NOMINATIONS
Please remember that nominations for 13-19 years are to be done through individual schools where there is no district carnival.
Nominations are limited to a maximum of 3 students per event per school (13-19 yrs) or district (10-12 yrs), except 10-12 years 800m where only 2 competitors per district. All students MUST have attained the set qualifying times/distances. DO NOT nominate students who have not attained these times/distances at your school/district carnival. NB – Where a school believes that they have more than the stipulated number of competitors who stand a decent chance of qualifying for the state championships then special consideration MAY be given for those events. HOWEVER the final decision rests with the Convenor & RSSO.
Nomination Files for each school/district [Meet Manager/Team Manager Lite] are to be returned, BY EMAIL ONLY, to
NOMINATIONS ARE DUE BY 3pm MONDAY 16th AUGUST – NO LATER!!!
MULTI CLASS STUDENTSMulticlass students are eligible to be nominated for this regional trial. Multiclass athletes are to be nominated through meet manger as per the nomination process. Additionally the multiclass entry list form (page 13) need to be completed and submitted with the meet manager nomination. Please only nominate students who have or an in the process of obtaining classification.
MEDICAL PERMISSION FORMSAll players must bring a completed SW trial permission form (RTPF) & Queensland School Sport consent form to the regional trial. NO FORM means the student will be unable to trial on the day.
CARNIVAL ASSISTANCEAs with all carnivals, assistance is required in order to run the events and complete them within the day. Athletics requires us to be able to run seven events at once so your assistance is vital.
Over 50 officials are required to run this carnival, which means we will require the assistance of other officials from competing schools. Competing schools have an obligation to provide parents, students or teachers for these roles. It is preferable that these volunteers have some knowledge in the events where they will be stationed.
In order to achieve this, schools must nominate details of who will be attending the carnival and their preferred position for the day. Efforts will be made to place volunteers in their preferred areas however this cannot be guaranteed. It would also be appreciated if those people with knowledge on multiple events could indicate this to their school contact so that we can best cater for all positions on the day.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact;

SOUTH WEST 10 – 19 YEARS TRACK & FIELD
Road Map and Parking Directions
The SWSS Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday/Friday 19th/20th August which are normal school days. With this in mind it is asked that people attending the carnival drive around to the back ovals, as opposed to parking at the front of the school and walking through the school grounds, so that for the students in classes on this day have as few distractions as possible. Further, the carnival is fully equipped so all necessary facilities (toilets, canteen, parking and water) are down at the competition arena. Thursday events are scheduled to start at 12:30pm please do not arrive before 11:30am. The St George map (aerial view) shown below, shows the easiest route to and from the back ovals at St George SHS. Marked on the map is the car parking at the rear of the ovals. A suitable bus parking area is yet to be decided upon and will be determined by the following information.
If schools could please let the convenors know if your students are being transported to the carnival by bus, so that numbers of buses can be worked out and suitable parking arranged.
SOUTH WEST 10 – 19 YEARS TRACK & FIELD
COMPETITION ARENA LAYOUT
For Field Events: GIRLS: PIT 1
BOYS: PIT 2
When competing in field events athletes are reminded that track events take priority. This means that if announcer calls for the marshalling of your age group for a track event, athletes must inform the field event official that they need to marshal for a track event and leave immediately to marshal at the track. Once the track event is complete, competitors must then return to the interrupted field event, inform the official of their return and complete their jumps/throws.
SOUTH WEST 10-19 YEARS TRACK & FIELDQUALIFYING STANDARDS
The following times and distances have been set after a review of results from the previous two years regional carnivals. These standards are to be used as a guide when considering students to be nominated to attend the regional trials. While students do not have to have attained these marks they will need to be close to be competitive at the regional carnival.

competitors still at previous events.2. The organising committee reserves the right to alter the order of events in the interest of the smooth
running of the program or inclement weather conditions. Managers, parents and students are again reminded of the compact nature of the program and should be aware of this when choosing the events in which students are competing.
3. Only competitors and officials will be allowed onto the oval. All parents/coaches/spectators etc are to remain behind the roped areas.
4. There will be NO Relays run at this carnival due to time constraints of combining both 10-12 years and 13-19 years track and field.
