We need your help in identifying success stories to showcase for this year’s Sustainability Summit on June 12 at Bell Works in Holmdel. If your municipal or school green team has a successfully implemented a project or initiative that you feel has moved the needle on an important sustainability issue, please complete the success story submission form by January 31. Funding Available for Municipalities and Schools

The PSEG Foundation is contributing $200,000 to support a municipal grants cycle and $100,000to support a schools grants cycle. The municipal grants cycle will award four (4) $20,000, eight (8) $10,000 and twenty (20) $2,000grants to support efforts related to Sustainable Jersey actions. For more information, click here.The municipal application deadline is Friday, February 14, 2020.

We encourage collaboration between municipalities and schools on sustainability efforts. Theschools PSEG grants cycle will award four (4) $10,000 grants for school or school district projects,and thirty (30) $2,000 grants to support efforts related to Sustainable Jersey for Schools actions.For more information, click here. The school application deadline is Friday, March 13, 2020.

453 Municipalities ParticipatingWelcome new registrant Rumson Borough in Monmouth County to the Program. We look forward tocertifying you! Nearly 90% of the state's population and 80% of the municipalities are participatingin the Sustainable Jersey program. Find out the status of your town on the ParticipatingCommunities Map. You can also search the map to find towns approved for actions that yourmunicipality would like to accomplish.

NJBPU Awards More than 75 MW ofCommunity Solar Projects

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) approved 45 applications to participate in the firstyear of its Community Solar Energy Pilot Program. A community solar project is a solar array whoseoutput is divided among multiple participants, known as subscribers. A subscriber can be a homeor business that wants to use renewable energy but does not have an array on-site. One hundredpercent of the approved renewable energy projects will serve low-to moderate-income(LMI) households in the state. The Board Order, which includes the list of approved projects, isavailable here, and the press release is available here. The approved projects will all be locatedon landfills, brownfields, rooftops, or parking canopies. Please address any questionsto [email protected]. Municipalities can apply for Sustainable Jersey points for community solar projects underthe Community-Led Solar Initiatives action.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative Community Grants

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® (SFI) Community Grants support and promote collaborationwith the SFI Network to support local communities' understanding of the value and benefits ofsustainable managed forests. Community grants are awarded for collaborative community-basedprojects, activities or events supporting SFI's mission to advance sustainability through forest-focused collaborations, across the United States and Canada. All projects must be submitted byan SFI Implementation Committee (SIC) or non-profit organization. Application Deadline: Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11:59pm NJBPU Announces New Incentives to Expand Local Government ElectricVehicle Fleets To jump-start the electrification of local government vehicle fleets, the New Jersey Board of PublicUtilities (NJBPU) has created the "Clean Fleet Electric Vehicle Incentive" program, which offerslocal governments $4,000 per battery electric vehicle and $1,500 for one dual-port Level 2 EVcharging station. The application window opened on December 1, 2019, and the program willaward grants on a rolling basis until April 15, 2020 or until the funding is fully committed.

To make it easier for local governments to add electric vehicles to their fleets, EVs were recentlyadding to the State Purchasing Contract. Points can be earned for the Purchase Alternative FuelVehicles, Meet Target for Green Fleets, and Public Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure actions. It Pay$ to Plug In: New Jersey's Electric Vehicle Charging Grants Program It Pay$ to Plug In provides grants to offset the cost of purchasing and installing electric vehiclecharging stations. The program is designed to expand New Jersey's growing network of electricvehicle infrastructure, allowing residents, businesses, and government agencies to purchase anddrive electric vehicles. EVs dramatically reduce vehicle emissions and improve air quality foreveryone. It Pay$ to Plug In has expanded its eligibility criteria to include workplaces, public places, and multi-unit dwellings (apartments, condominiums, and townhouses). The program is open tobusinesses, governments, non-profit organizations, and educations institutions. Private residentialdwellings other than multi-unit dwellings are not eligible for grants. Upon completion of work in accordance with the eligibility criteria, New Jersey's Department ofEnvironmental Protection (DEP) will reimburse each applicant for a percentage of eligible costs upto a maximum of:

$750 per Level 1 charging station$5,000 per single-port Level 2 charging station$6,000 per dual-port Level 2 charging station

Installation of electric vehicle charging stations by the municipality qualifies for points underthe Public Electric Vehicle Infrastructure action. Your municipality may also consider using thesiting opportunity for the charging station(s) to Make Your Town Electric Vehicle Friendly foradditional points.

The New Jersey Clean Energy Learning Center has added a new section on Sustainable Jerseywhich will feature videos on how to successfully complete energy actions. The first video in theseries is on Energy Tracking & Management. This video series explains how to earn 10 to 20points for completing the Sustainable Jersey for Schools Energy Tracking and Management action.

New Jersey’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program (HPwES) offers generous rebatesand low-interest loans to homeowners to upgrade their homes to more energy efficient andcomfortable dwellings. HPwES, which is administered by the Board of Public Utilities and its CleanEnergy Program, has upgraded the energy efficiency of over 30,000 homes in NJ since 2006.HPwES not only saves energy and money, it also addresses health and safety issues prior tomaking a home more energy efficient.
