Sustainable Farming For A Sustainable Future Food security is an enormous challenge haunting the world today. The world population is a little over 6 billion in 2014, and there are a lot of hungry mouths to be fed. It is projected that by 2025, the population will be around 8.5 billion which is about 40% rise in the population. This will trigger an immense demand for agricultural products across the world. The situation especially from the underdeveloped and developing countries is daunting as it may not produce enough to meet its domestic demand. Factors like poverty, lack of government will, misplaced priorities, irrelevant government policies and wars have contributed in weakening the food security of the underdeveloped nations. Naturally, this may push the farmers to mechanize, industrialize and advance the agriculture but that doesn’t create a sustainable model.

Sustainable Farming For A Sustainable FutureFood security is an enormous challenge haunting the world today. The world population is a

little over 6 billion in 2014, and there are a lot of hungry mouths to be fed. It is projected that by

2025, the population will be around 8.5 billion which is about 40% rise in the population. This

will trigger an immense demand for agricultural products across the world. The situation

especially from the underdeveloped and developing countries is daunting as it may not produce

enough to meet its domestic demand. Factors like poverty, lack of government will, misplaced

priorities, irrelevant government policies and wars have contributed in weakening the food

security of the underdeveloped nations. Naturally, this may push the farmers to mechanize,

industrialize and advance the agriculture but that doesn’t create a sustainable model.

Eventually, when the exploitation reaches its peak it will explode. The problems associated with

conventional farming are soil erosion, the significant increase in input costs, destruction of

native vegetation, increasing focus on commercial crops, etc. The spike in input costs has forced

small farmers to abandon their lands or sell it for throwaway prices and migrate to urban areas

seeking work.

Food supply has declined in poor and underdeveloped countries. The agricultural production in

the sub-Saharan region is way below than the production rates of developed countries. The

increasing hungry mouths have posed a global challenge, to cover the undernourished people

under food security. Spiraling food prices in the underdeveloped regions is yet another reason

which is preventing the needy from even buying the necessities such as food.

Sustainable farming is about creating a sustainable agricultural model that meets the demand

of nutritious food products without over-exploiting the natural resources that gradually affects

the entire ecosystem. The goals of sustainable farming are to comprehend the significance of

protecting the ecosystem and understand the ways in which the farming practices can alter the

properties of the nature consequently leading to positive or negative effects. Also, to establish a

standard farming practice that are economically feasible and environmentally responsible. To

achieve these goals, governments must devise policies addressing the concerns arising from

conventional farming and must develop programs to promote and create awareness among the

farmers about sustainable farming methods.

Sustainable farming adopts a holistic approach towards farming that includes all possible

elements like soil, vegetation, air and water. Also a connection between these components and

factors like farmer’s beliefs, perception, prejudices, ambitions, skills and knowledge along with

the social, economic, cultural and political scenarios in which the farm thrives, is established.

Although, it can vary from country to country depending upon the climatic conditions, seasons,

and type of soil. It cannot be a prescriptive standard for all the farms irrespective of the

geographical locations. However, these methods are common, and the combination of methods

can be used for creating a customized sustainable farming model for your farms.

Combining one or more methods can provide excellent outcomes but a spiritual touch to the

resources is essential as we need to consolidate and facilitate communication amongst them.

The Trivedi Effect® establishes the framework wherein the organisms alter their behaviors and

work in tandem with other components of the ecosystem. The Energy Transmission creates a

greater purpose for the all the components of the ecosystem and make them realize their part

in the whole system which eventually influences them to produce great results.
