ESA will also assist in securing all permits and other legal requirements for the system as well as conduct all required assessments and related studies for the system as needed. Read more

1-5-2012 ||Millions in Wind Energy projectThe PetroCaribe Development Fund (PCDF) and Wigton Windfarm Limited (Wigton) will be investing several million dollars in funding and training as part of a Renewable Energy initiative at the Munro College in St. Elizabeth. The initiative will see the PetroCaribe Development Fund investing approximately $7.7 million to rehabilitate the school’s 225 kilowatts (kW) wind turbine while Wigton will assist the school in providing technical assistance and training for fourth and fifth form students in the theory and practice of renewable energy, including the installation and maintenance of the requisite technologies. 5-5-2012 ||Caribbean to access $10.6 million in Climate Change financing through IDBThe Caribbean Regional Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) is a collaborative effort between six participating countries—Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent, each with its own national program and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Center serving as a Focal Point for the regional track of activities. Lessons learned from CIF-funded projects will be disseminated to other non-participating countries in the region. Read more

8-5-2012 ||Launch of the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Programme in JamaicaThe Government of Jamaica has received financing in the amount of a loan of US$20 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds for the payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under the project Energy Efficiency and Conservation Loan Programme. 3-5-2012 ||Jamaican Government agencies urged to cut energy costsHe implored heads of agencies, ministries and other public-sector institutions to examine the findings of the audit report and to determine their next step. He noted the Government had access to the electricity bills of every government agency and would be monitoring usage. He challenged ministers and permanent secretaries, especially, to develop and implement an energy-efficiency road map and to set targets for their energy consumption. Read more
