Transition from MDGs to SDGs: history and lessons learned

• The transition from MDGs (8 goals, 21 targets and 60 indicators) to SDG (17 goals, 169 goals and 230 indicators) - a comprehensive and ambitious global agenda of development!

National plans for the implementation of the SDG in practice: the situation in the field of statistics

• The Government of Kazakhstan in the process of implementation of the SDG, since the end of 2015: - National meetings and meetings of experts on the implementation of the SDG; - Analysis of national strategic documents and their relationship with the SDG; - Are determined by the responsible state authorities for the implementation of the SDG.

• Committee on Statistics:

- Analyzes the potential of the statistical system and administrative sources for the production of the SDG;

- Establishes contacts with the stakeholders of the process (state agencies, and other data sources, NGOs, the private sector and international organizations);

- Develop plans for the implementation of the SDG in the field of statistics (it is planned that the work in the field of statistics will be part of the "National Road Map for SDG")

Problem issues of SDG for statisticians

Disaggregating SDG indicators:

- by gender, by age;

- by area (urban/rural, by region);

-migrants, persons with disabilities, ethnic group, income level, etc.

• The lack of methodology (level 3) by more than 80 indicators

• National SDG indicators : selection principles, issues of quality and comparability of data between countries

• The need for increased coordination among data producers

• The need to increase the capacity of statistical systems (financing, additional staff training)
