Our progress

We drive employee engagement throughcharitable giving and best business practices,focusing on areas that are most meaningful to ourbusiness while tracking our progress withinestablished reporting frameworks. Our aim is toimprove the health and wellness in ourcommunities, advance education with a priority onSTEM, practice environmental stewardship andprovide an employee experience that valuesdiversity and inclusiveness. Below is not anexhaustive list of our efforts, but a grouping thatcaptures our values, approach and direction goingforward. We support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, 2030 Agenda – “17 Goals to Transform OurWorld.” The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a framework that organizations can use toidentify critical needs and actions. We are proud of the progress that we are making towards multiple SDGsboth inside and outside of IHS Markit as demonstrated by the snapshot included here.

All new IHS Markit fitouts strive to be designed toBREEAM/LEED-certified standards. This meansthat everything from the materials used to theoverall design of the space is carefully consideredin terms of its impact on the environment. IHSMarkit seeks to obtain LEED Silver certification (orequivalent in BREEAM) by the USGBC on all newprojects. 2017 highlights:

▪ 28% of our office space (representing 35% of our employees) has been certified LEED orequivalent

▪ Invested more than US$88 million in the last 8 years, including $20 million in 2017, to upgrade to more modern and efficient buildings

▪ Committed to incorporate sustainable design principles in 33% of our fitout projects (see our 2018scorecard)

100% renewable by 2020 and carbon offsetspurchasesSDG 13 - Climate action

Global (2017) - IHS Markit signed on to RE100 and committed tosourcing 100 percent of its electricity from renewable energy by 2020.By joining the RE100, IHS Markit is now part of the “We MeanBusiness” coalition of more than 700 companies and investorsdedicated to Climate action. See our press release.

As we are working out the details towards the 100% renewable goal,we are in the process of purchasing carbon offsets for 2017 and haveretired 18,289 offsets in previous years using our EnvironmentalRegistry.

Zero waste to landfillSDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production, SDG 15 - Life on land

Tetbury, United Kingdom (2015-present) - With the removal of personaltrash bins and 60% reduction in landfill waste generated, the Tetburyoffice took the additional step of having the remainder landfill trashincinerated. This reduces the amount of landfill waste and carbonemissions from landfill waste while providing electricity to the national grid.

Recycling at the corporate headquartersSDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production

London, United Kingdom (2016-present) - Our corporateoffice has implemented a robust recycling program with arecycling rate above 60%, an increase of 20 percentagepoints since 2016. As part of a monthly competition amongthe building occupants in Ropemaker Place, IHS Markit hasregularly held the top spot or ranked second place in thebuilding.

Global tree plantingSDG 15 - Life on land

Global (2012-2017) - Trees for Tomorrow is a global IHS Markitcampaign providing opportunities to engage in our communitiesand care for the planet by planting trees. Since 2012:

▪ 15,039 trees planted, including 6,730 trees in 2017

▪ 14 offices in Belarus, Brazil, Canada, India, Malaysia, the United States and the United Kingdom have participated

▪ IHS Minsk office employees planted 500 trees as part of ourEarth month in April, 2017

▪ Calgary office donates trees on the behalf of our customers who recycle our CDs/materials or access our content digitally

The Foundation for National Parks & WildlifeSDG 15 - Life on land

Sydney, Australia (2017) - IHS Markit employees, working withThe Foundation for National Park & Wildlife (FNPW), volunteeredto clean up and restore the habitat near Shark Island whilekayaking and enjoying the sun.

▪ $1,500 donated to support this effort

▪ 49 volunteer hours used to mulch, weed, and plant out areas with native seedlings

Mystic River cleanupSDG 14 - Life Below water

Cambridge and Lexington, MA (2015-2017) - In the last threeyears, Cambridge and Lexington offices have combined for ajoint VTO/summer social event with a sustainability theme.Along with a $3,000 donation, more than 70 IHS Markitemployees using 328 VTO hours physically removed tons ofwater chestnuts from the Mystic River, improving its ecologicalquality and overall aesthetic (The water chestnut is an invasivespecies complicating native Mystic River marine life). Partneringwith the Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) IHSMarkit employees worked from canoes and hand-pulled thechestnuts from the river. Harvested water chestnuts were takento a composting facility run by the Massachusetts Department ofConservation and Recreation.

Bike to work daysSDG 11 - Sustainable cities and communities, SDG 13 - Climateaction

Geneva and Zurich, Switzerland (2017) - IHS Markit employees,in action towards climate change and sustainable commuting,formed 5 teams to bike to work during the month of June. 20employees from the Geneva and and Zurich offices participatedand biked more than 2,400 miles - saving almost three-quarters ofa metric ton of CO2 equivalent.

Global e-waste drives & donationsSDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production, SDG 10 -Reduced inequalities

Global (2012-present) - As part of our sustainability policy, IHSMarkit encourages the reduction of waste and the use ofrecycling. This includes hosting office e-waste drives foremployees & building occupants. Since 2012, we have divertedmore than 20 metric tons of electronic waste in this way.

We also donate and repurpose older technology equipment as aprimary step in the end-of-e-waste lifecycle; and when this is notpossible, we promote proper e-waste disposal & avoiding landfilldisposal. Since 2012, we have donated more than 800 pieces ofIT equipment (laptops, monitors, printers) to charity. Recipientsinclude: Bala Ustav (India), Centre for Support and Social Integration (Brazil), Dubai Center for Special Needs(United Arab Emirates), Fundacja Nasza Ziemia (Poland), Houston Independent School District (UnitedStates), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (United States), One Billion Literates Foundation (India), RedCross (France), and Shining India (India).

The Carbon XPrize competitionSDG 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Houston, TX (2017-present) - Using our volunteer benefit, RussellHeinen, a senior director and energy and chemicals expert at IHS Markit,volunteers as a judge for the Carbon XPrize competition. The goal of thecompetition is to develop breakthrough technologies that will convert CO2emissions from power plants and industrial facilities into useful products,such as building materials or alternative fuels. XPrize Foundation callsitself an innovation engine and a catalyst for the benefit of humanity. Thegoal of the US$ 20 million global XPrize competition is to catalyze not justbreakthrough innovation, but also the market opportunities that will allowthose breakthroughs to succeed. Using our volunteering benefit,RussellHeinen, a senior director and energy andchemicals expert at IHS Markit, offerspro bono expertise as a judge in theCarbon XPrize competition.

Promoting STEM education with Girl Scouts in HoustonSDG 4 - Quality education, SDG 5 - Gender equality

Houston, TX (2012-2017) - Our annual science-based Girl Scouts Geosciences Career Dayhosted by IHS Markit colleagues in Houston,Texas, for high school age girl scouts andchildren of IHS Markit colleagues that promotesscience, technology, engineering and math(STEM) education.

▪ Impacting 20-30 students per year

▪ Includes hands on experimentation with geological concepts and software

▪ Colleagues with expertise in computer programming, physics, geophysics, geology,engineering and chemicals also share theirstories with the attendees

OpenWorld LearningSDG 4 - Quality education

Englewood, CO (2013-2017) - For five years, IHS Markit hasworked with OpenWorld Learning (OWL), an organization thatsupports children’s school success by tapping the power of digitaltechnology and peer teaching. OpenWorld Learning provides a funand challenging after-school educational program focused onteaching advanced computer technology in the Denver area. 2013-2017 Englewood office contributions:

▪ $37,000 corporate-branded goods (i.e., pens, mugs, t-shirts) to organization

▪ 321 backpacks full of school supplies

▪ More than 150 laptops

Automotive Business Education ProgramSDG 4 - Quality education, SDG 10 - Reduced inequalities

Southfield, MI (2015-present) - IHS Markit has been actively involved ina business education relationship with Loyola High School in Detroit,Michigan. In addition to employing high school students as interns withinvarious teams in their Southfield office, the relationship has grown toinclude a curriculum on information technology with a combination oflecture and hands-on opportunities for students.

Joseph Kidder, director of the work experience program at Loyola, saidabout the program, “Students who are interested in the informationtechnology field have had a chance to gain greater insight into the fieldthrough presentations and practical experiences. The class has openedup the students to greater possibilities and opportunities for continued education, a career path and potentialincome. Students not only enjoyed the content but also had a great time talking with each of the men andwomen from IHS Markit and finding out that being in IT can be a great career.”

Houston, TX (2016-present) - IHS Markit has been a corporate sponsorof MIGH for three years. MIGH is a program that teaches basiccomputer skills to Hispanic, African American and Asian adults with littledisposable income. The goal is to strengthen the skillset of the region’sworkforce. The MIGH program started in 2002 and has grownsignificantly through the years, impacting numerous lives and thestrengthening the job force and local economy.

For 2018, we want to further strengthen our relationship with the institutethrough office fundraising events and volunteering opportunities for ouremployees.

IHS Markit Global Shave with St. Baldrick’sSDG 3 - Good health and well-being

Global (2007-2018) - The St. Baldrick'sFoundation is the world’s largest volunteer-powered organization for childhood cancer.Donations raised by St. Baldrick’s fundraisershave made it possible to support the developmentof childhood cancer treatments.

The foundation is known for its signature head-shaving events where volunteers shave theirheads to raise funds for the most promisingchildhood cancer research. Funds raised aredistributed throughout the year in the form ofresearch grants. The St. Baldrick’s Foundationhas funded 1541 grants in 28 countries to date,more than any other private foundation.

This is our largest campaign fundraiser of the yearwith IHS Markit matching $100K to the amount raised by our employees. IHS Markit has partnered with St.Baldrick’s for eleven years raising a total of $3,534,319! Check out the 2018 Global Shave Event on YouTube.

Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. (BRI) Paint-a-thonSDG 1 - No poverty, SDG 3 - Good health and well-being

Englewood, CO (2013-present) - Since 2013 IHS Markit colleagues haveparticipated in the annual Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. (BRI) Paint-a-thonprogram as a team building and volunteering opportunity. Employees painthomes, complete minor home repair, landscaping/tree trimming, trash/junkremoval, gutter cleaning and anything else that the homeowner needs.

▪ 13 homeowners living in safer/more secure/financially sound homes

▪ $19,220.00 contributed (to-date)

▪ 1,450 volunteer hours contributed (to-date)

▪ $121,346 estimated total community impact (through 2017)

Hurricane Harvey relief effortsSDG 3 - Good health and well-being

Houston, TX (2017) - As part of our effort to support our employeesand the people of Houston in the Hurricane Harvey aftermath, IHSMarkit employees donated $54,621 (and IHS Markit matched thisamount) for Houston employees affected. We also had a generalHarvey charities fund where donations went directly to relief basedcharities while offices held drives to collect needed items such astoiletries, food, water, toys, tools and hardware. For example, ourCARFAX employees raised $6,000 to purchase laptops for localHouston shelters.

Employees 'link' together for Mitochondrial DiseaseSDG 3 - Good health and well-being

Calgary, Canada (2017) - The MitoCanada Foundation is one thecharities supported by our Calgary Corporate Sustainability team, whichwas co-founded by Blaine Penny, vice president of product managementat IHS Markit. In 2017, Team Mito recruited 122 runners, including 5 IHSMarkit employees, in setting a Guinness World Record for the 'Mostrunners linked to complete a marathon’ and raised over $162,000.

2017 Richardson Corporate ChallengeSDG 3 - Good health and well-being

Dallas, TX (2017) - 229 IHS Markit employees, spouses andcontractors participated in 22 events over an 8-week period in the2017 Richardson Corporate Challenge which benefits the SpecialOlympics of Texas. The IHS Markit team raised over $4200 andcontributed more than 1,200 volunteer hours during the eight weeks.

HeForShe campaignSDG 5 - Gender equality

Global (2017-present) - IHS Markit is proud to participatein the HeForShe campaign as part of our commitment togender diversity and equality in the workplace. In our pilotrollout in 2017, the London office came up with five keyactions unique to the office that every employee can adoptand implement to improve Gender equality. As a HeForSheambassador, an employee commits to vocally andproactively uphold these pledges.

Currently we have full programs in London and Bangalorewith emerging programs in our Englewood, Coulsdon, NewYork and Paris offices. Our goal for 2018 is to expand theHeForShe campaign to our largest offices, engaging 50%of our employees in this campaign.

2018 Technology Leader of the Year recognitionSDG 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Bethany Baer, managing director and chief technology officer of IHS MarkitDigital, was named Technology Leader of the Year at the inaugural Women inTechnology and Data Awards presented by Waters Technology magazine. Theaward recognizes, promotes and celebrates the contribution that women makeacross the capital markets, specifically in the data and technology industries.

“Bethany is an exemplary leader and a role model for women in technology,”said Lance Uggla, chairman and chief executive officer at IHS Markit. “Hertechnical and business leadership enables us to be the innovative partner ourcustomers require to capitalize on dynamic video, advanced personalization,conversational user interfaces and other technologies that are redefining howfinancial firms interact with their clients.”

Malaysia (2017) - IHS Markit Malaysia was recognized ata national level, winning the Best Lean Organization for theLife at Work National Awards. Initiated by TalentCorporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) and organizedin collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family andCommunity Development, the award recognizes andcelebrates employers with leading workplace strategiesthat demonstrate drive, commitment and tenacity tochampion diversity and inclusion. IHS Markit Malaysiareceived the same recognition in 2015.

At IHS Markit Malaysia, a dedicated leadership team has implemented initiatives with the goal to provide equalopportunity for all:

▪ Created pillars, such as diversity & inclusion; innovation; corporate sustainability; and great place to work, which ensures that all our colleagues’ voices are heard

Pride@IHSMarkitSDG 16 - Peace, justice and strong institutions

Global (2016-present) - Pride@IHSMarkit are groups open to allemployees that aim to create a culture and a company that is welcomingand inclusive for LGBTQ employees. These groups raise awarenessthrough communication and events with active employee Pride groups inthe US, UK and India. Their remit, both internal and external, is to engagewith partner networks, clients and our communities. In 2017, we launched a company-wide LGBTQ Allyprogram. An ally can be anyone who supports the LGBTQ community.
