I completed a Bachelor or Commerce (Management Studies) at the University of Cape Town in 2014. Thereafter, I completed a Post Graduate Diploma (Sustainable Development Management and Planning) at the Sustainability Institute, Stellenbosch University in 2015. I am currently enrolled for a Masters in Philosophy at the Sustainability Institute which focusses improving the community development element of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPPP). The innovative procurement programme encourages multinational developers to build renewable energy plants in the country from which electricity can be sold to the national utility. Developers are also required to improve low income communities that surround the plant through revenues earned. The programme has resulted in massive investment in a short time period, but community development efforts have had limited effect. This Masters aims to improve the impact thereof.

I am currently a fulltime Master in Philosophy (MPhil) student at the Sustainability Institute in Stellenbosch University. My research focus is on the use of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) to create more integrated inclusive urban development patterns, in the previously segregated South African cities. My career is still at its juvenile stage, however, I possess an excellent experience in research and consulting projects. This is to special reference of the research collaboration I embarked on with researchers from university of Cape Town, Cape Peninsula University and the University of Western Cape, where we compiled the strategic document for the Western Cape Government titled: Trends in climate change, sustainability, and green economy research at CHEC institutions. I completed my Bachelor Degree in Development and Environment (2011); the Honors Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies (2012); and Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Development Management and Planning (2014).
