Lisbon Town Board Chairman Matt Gehrke, pictured duringa 2011 event, recently announced he wont seek re-election
to the post. Express News file photo.
Lisbon Town Board Chairman Matt Gehrkeannounced last week that he will not run for re-elec-tion to the post.
In his statement, Gehrke noted that when he firstran for the board eight years ago he and his wife didnot have any children. They now have two daughtersages 7 and 4.
I have taken the trust that the voters haveplaced in me very seriously and have dedicatedmyself to Lisbon over these years. However, aftermuch careful consideration, Marci and I have decid-
ed that I will end my service as Lisbon Chairman thisspring, Gehrke said. This was a very difficult deci-sion, but we feel that it is best for our family. I thankthe residents of Lisbon for the trust they have placedin me and for what they have allowed the employeesand Town Boards of Lisbon to accomplish during thepast eight years.
Gehrke was first elected to the board as a super-visor in 2007and then defeated Town BoardChairman Michael Reed in an election two yearslater. Gerhke said that he supported Reed in dis-banding the town police department and contractingwith the Waukesha County Sheriffs Department forlaw enforcement services.
He noted that Lisbons debt has been reducedfrom $10,675,000 at the beginning of 2012 to$6,575,000 by the end of 2015. He also noted thatthe operating budget for crack filling, paving, andpatching increased from $10,606 to $351,369.
Gehrke wont seekre-election as Lisbon

PET OF THE WEEKShe's here to make you bubble up with joy! Bubblicious isa 6 pound cutie with a pop in her step and a sweet charmyou can certainly savor. Can you believe this tiny girl camein as a stray! It may take her a little time to get used to newenvironments and strangers, but give her a moment towarm up and she's yours forever. She would be good in a household with children 15years and up that will initially respect her space and give her time to feel comfortable.Bubblicious absolutely loves to be pampered and is happy to spend hours in your lap. However,if given too much pampering right away she may attempt to appoint herselfas the official queen of the household. Proper rules, boundaries, and expectationsmust be established so she can relax and enjoy being a member of the pack in lieuof the ruler of the domain. She can be a vocal girl at times if not given an outlet forher energy. Bubblicious would do very well with cats but may be picky with otherdogs. Calm, small dogs that give her space may be okay with her.
