Submission Process
• Submission request round one – two weeks to respond• At first glanced seemed fair
• Should have to validate proper use of a certified system
• Submission request round two – one week to respond• Okay, some of these are a little silly
• All reports should have vendor logo on them in addition to hospital information
• Submission request round three – one week to respond• Now we are into the ridiculous territory
• “I know that you had zero as a denominator and that is okay, now prove it” – huh?
• Submission request round three – four days to respond• Just passed into the sublime
• “Yes, I see the thousands of drug-drug interaction warnings detail that your system preserved, now prove that it was always active” – again, huh?

Submission Process:You Have To Think Like an Auditor

Event #668 206 149
Lessons Learned
• Failure in Certification Process• Vendors should have been given criteria for customers to validate usage of
system.
• Question all vendor changes• We have instances where the vendor changed their philosophy on some of
the standard reports, resulting in different numbers when the reports are run now vs. what we attested to. Turns out auditors do not like that …
• Keep all documentation• There really is no such thing as “too much” supporting documentation.
