Page 2: Surrogacy

An asylum seeker is a person seeking sanctuary or refuge from persecution, generally at the hands of a government or its representatives. Asylum itself means sanctuary or protection.

When people flee official persecution in a nation, they'll generally seek out a nation that can reasonably be expected to offer them asylum based on their specific circumstances.

Political asylum has to applied for and accepted by the that a refuge seeks asylum in.

When countries grant political asylum against others, the are proving their superiority.

Page 3: Surrogacy

Asylum seekers often do not have much choice on the countries they go to.

Pressures from other countries causes some countries to not grant political asylum.

The issue is further complicated by the difference in laws in different countries.

What may be illegal in one country can be legal in another country.

Israel’s views on Political Asylum

Israel feels that asylum seekers should be treated fairly .

The refugees can also be given new identities which will allow them to start a new life free of judgement.

Furthermore, Israel feels that grants of political asylum can be lengthened and that people suspected of direct time to others should stand trail before political asylum is granted.

Solutions Asylum seeker can be supported a

international agency that offers them advice and give them support until the are convicted or granted political asylum.

Furthermore, the granting of political asylum should be decided by each state based n available evidence and not on political pressure from other countries.

This can be supported by an international agreement that will prevent countries from influencing each other at the time of political asylum.

Israel itself offers political asylum to certain individuals but their rights are restricted.

Furthermore, countries with traditional ties must be prevented from working together due to political reasons.

People seeking political asylum must also have a valid reason

Surrogacy can be defined as an arrangement where a woman bears a child for another person.

Surrogacy occurs through In-Vitro Fertilization(IVF)

This allows infertile and homosexual couples to have children.

Surrogacy is frowned upon in certain countries and illegal in other countries.

Issues of the nationality of the child and cause conflict

Significance and risks of wide spread access to

Surrogacy in Israel As surrogacy becomes more prevalent,

impersonal use of the surrogate mother’s body, which is inherently degrading, will increase.

In countries such as India, where an extensive surrogacy industry exists, it is already possible to “order” surrogate children by mail, with no contact whatsoever with the surrogate mother.

“Baby farms” exist, housing many women who serve as human incubators for Western couples .

Page 10: Surrogacy

The widespread accessibility to surrogacy harms the currently existing social perceptions of the importance of the relationship between the mother and the baby in her womb, and conveys a social message that this relationship has no actual emotional and legal significance.

As the us of surrogacy increases, this message will become stronger, will undermine the concept of motherhood and will have a negative impact on the status of women in relation to their children.

Page 11: Surrogacy

Surrogacy can cause physical and emotional harm to the gestational mother.

The gestational mothers develop bonds with the children.

This will lead to emotional trauma as the child will have to be given up and the gestational mothers are often forced by laws and the surrogate parents to have no contact with the child.

Physically speaking, the gestational mothers are often injured due to the birth or caesarean process.

Page 12: Surrogacy

Israel’s view on surrogacy Israeli government legalized gestational

surrogacy under the "Embryo Carrying Agreements Law." This law made Israel the first country in the world to implement a form of state-controlled surrogacy in which each and every contract must be approved directly by the state.

Page 13: Surrogacy

A state-appointed committee permits surrogacy arrangements to be filed only by Israeli citizens who share the same religion. Surrogates must be single, widowed or divorced and only infertile heterosexual couples are allowed to hire surrogates

Page 14: Surrogacy

Possible solutions Surrogacy should be legalized to allow

infertile or homosexual couples to have children.

Israel should treat surrogacy in a lenient but case by case basis.

Gestational mothers should be treated with respect and can be employed to take care of the surrogate children.
