Our abrasive belt and disc production plant – located in our Bury factory – contains state-of-the-art equipment designed for fast, accurate and specialised manufacture of a wide range of high-quality products.

From the very start of the process automatic computer programmable cut-to-length machinery ensures rapid cutting of any bulk order. This is then fed into our automatic edge treatment machine, where the process of joining the production widths of belts begins. After resin glue application and semi-drying, Kevlar tape is applied and the two ends joined together (butt joint) before pressing.

The first operation every day is to cut down the stocked jumbo rolls into production sizes to facilitate the operation of the rest of the machinery. Our standard working size rolls are 300mm and 200mm, permitting the manufacture of all standard widths in the coated abrasive market. For discs, different roll widths are cut depending on the diameter of disc required.

Our goal always is to offer our customers the best available products at the most competitive prices without sacrificing any of our quality standards. Added to this our response speed in emergency situations – for example same day manufacture - is of vital importance in a highly competitive industrial world.



FINAIDS® ABRASIVE RUBBING BLOCKS

ARTIFEX® Bonding ‘Z’

Artifex bonding Z blocks comprise a rubber-bonded matrix, which results in a chemically neutral and silicon-free abrasive tool. It provides a clean, consistent finish, resists clogging and loading and is highly adaptable due to its elasticity. Principally designed for hand use, it may be used wet or dry on a wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals for blending, smoothing, sharpening etc., and within the wood, automotive, engineering and household sectors to achieve the desired finish. Supplied in bulk cartons or point-of-sale display boxes.

FINAIDS® ABRASIVE FLAPDISCS INSERTED RANGE These discs – the original flapdiscs from the late 1960’s – are constructed using a turbine- or spoke-like backing disc. Into each of these slots abrasive cloth sections are inserted prior to loading with resin glue and ultimately heat curing in industrial ovens. Their construction ensures an extremely cool sanding effect together with low vibration and excellent life.

FINAIDS® ABRASIVE FLAPWHEELS WITH BORE

SPECIFICATION:

The FINAIDS® range of abrasive cloth flapwheels with bore are made from high quality aluminous oxide abrasive material bonded into a metal core. They have a wide variety of applications in surface finishing, sanding, graining, grinding and deburring throughout different industrial sectors. Their construction using radially positioned cloth flaps enables them to conform to a wide range of profiles. The flexibility of the abrasive cloth ensures an even finish across a large selection of work piece contours. Available in diameters from 100mm to 400mm, widths from 20mm to 75mm and grits from P40 to P320, they are ideally used at approximately 70% of the maximum speed shown. Please note that wooden taper bores are only available in 165mm diameter.

FINAIDS® ABRASIVE FLAPWHEELS ON SHAFT

Made from semi-flexible aluminous oxide cloth, this range is ideal for all grinding, sanding and finishing operations for a wide range of metalworking applications. Available in diameters from 10mm to 80mm, widths from 10mm to 50mm and grits from P40 to P320, they are ideally used at approximately 70% of the maximum speed shown. Silicon carbide and ‘Trizact’ flapwheels in a limited selection of sizes and grits are available upon request.

FINAIDS® UTC 7-R Portable Tube Polishing Machine

The SUHNER® UTC7-R variable speed tube polisher incorporates a fully insulated 500 watt single phase motor in 110v or 230v models. Speed variation by tacho speed selector ensures constant speed, together with soft-start control for jolt-free work. High power-to-weight ratio minimises operator fatigue. Speed range from 3,000 to 7,000 rpm.

For grinding, satinising, graining, blending and polishing of stainless steel balustrades, railings and tubes, a wide range of abrasive belts and grits, surface conditioning materials and cloth belts with compounds can be utilised to ensure perfectly consistent finishes. Depending on belt selection, an arc of contact up to 180º is possible and the machine is fully protected from thermal overload by an integrated cut-out switch

The UTC7-R can also be used with the GSR 65 roller and hook & loop belts (above) at 3,000 rpm for rectification work on existing stainless steel installations. Other applications can take advantage of its variable speed rates, which enables different finishes to be achieved using the same belt but at different speeds.
