Thank you for choosing Orange and Surf & Pay. Your Surf & Pay is equipped with the best mobile technology to provide you with high speed broadband services.

To install Surf & Pay service, you need a data SIM card, a computer equipped with an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection and an internet browser. Installation instructions are for Windows XP, Vista ans Windows 7 users, but your Surf& Pay is compatible with most computers like Apple and Linux.In order to fully exploit all your Surf & Pay features, please follow the instructions carefully when :

Connecting your Surf & Pay to a mobile network.

Configuring your computer and settings up a wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi) connection to your Surf & Pay.

It will only take a few minutes to connect your computers to the mobile network after which you’ll be able to access to the available services.

With network coverage provided by Orange, Surf & Pay transform the 3G signal to Wi-Fi signal and worked as internet access point. It could provide charge service in hotel, restaurant, Internet cafe and cruise, etc. increasing people’s life convenience and also make profit.

Surf & Pay embedded billing system in and GUI, so reseller could manage it without external devices and software besides a normal PC with browser like IE8. With battery inside, Surf & Pay provides consistent persistent internet service via 3G+/3G for consumer even when main power supply is cut off.

Key features include :

Simplicity : provides a user-friendly interface without needs of any other hardware and software except a browser like IE8.

Billing system : it supports user management, monitor, checkout, recharging, receipt print and history data inquiry.

Battery : chargeable battery embedded. It could afford at least 4 working hours for Surf & Pay without main power supply.

2. Hardware and browser requirements

To manage Surf & Pay offer, you need a simple personal computer with a LAN connection and an internet browser with the following requirements :

3. Check and install the hardware

3 Step 2 : Install Wi-Fi & 3G antennas, insert SIM into SIM slot.

Connect 3G and Wi-Fi antennas, then insert SIM card into the SIM slot provided. See diagram below :

Step 3 : Plug your Surf & Pay to the main socket to recharge the embedded battery.

Connect main supply by power adapter (also could be powered by embedded battery) then the embedded battery will start charging. Please use power adapter provided by Orange only to avoid problems.

Step 4 : Connect PC and switch on Surf & Pay.

Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to your PC’s LAN port, connect another end to LAN port of Wi-Fi router. Then switch on the Wi-Fi router. See diagram below :

Step 5 : Discover your Surf & Pay : check LED status.

After switch on the Surf & Pay, please check the LED status.

1 - Power : light means you connected the power adapter correctly.

2 - BAT-C : light means the battery is charging now.

3 - BAT-L : orange shows low power, green means sufficient power.

4 - Wi-Fi : light means Wi-Fi is working.

5 - LAN : light means Ethernet cable connect correctly.

6 - Net : flash means connect 2.5G network, light means Ethernet cable is connecting correctly.

7 - Signal : number of flash LED shows signal strength. 3 LED light means signal is strong.

Step 7 : Where should you locate your Surf & Pay ?

Your Surf & Pay service will provide you with broadband access via a powerful 3G network.

In order to fully exploit all your Surf & Pay advanced features, please follow these recommendations :

Locate your Surf & Pay where the mobile network signal is strongest such as, for example, near a window.

Use the “Signal” indicators (7) to assess the strength of the signal. For further information refer to “indicator status” (page 11).

Ensure it is located near power supply. If your Surf & Pay is located near your computer, it is best to use a wired network (Ethernet).

4. Software set-up

Step 1 : Launch your web browser.

Launch your web browser like IE8 : , and input 192.168.8.1 in address bar as below.

In “Advanced > System Tools > Account Management” menu. Reseller could edit the password of reseller account.

Please change your password for security reason.

Step 2 : Login in and basic settings.

Default login with reseller account (username super, default password super).

Step 3 : Check 3G status.

It’s showing the strength of the network speed. 3 types : Low, Medium and Strong.

It’s appear green when the SIM card working.

It’s appear red when the SIM card not working.

It’s showing the type of connection you have 3G or 2G.

Step 4 : Clock settings.

Note : clock is very important for the use of Surf & Pay service. So make sure clock in Surf & Pay showing in the right top corner of user interface is correct.

Manual : Input the real clock manually and click “Save”.

Go to ‘‘Advanced > System tool > Clock’’ in submenu. You could set the clock Manual :

Step 5 : Wi-Fi connection.

Go to ‘‘Advanced > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi basic” to change the Wi-Fi settings if necessary. Reseller needs to inform their end user this access point name (SSID), so end user could search it via their PC with Wi-Fi feature.

5. Owner’s customer charging. Step 1 : Create a new pricing (1/3).

Go to ‘‘Billing > Pricing’’. Add new price to define your price that you will charge to your customers before starting using Surf & Pay billing service. It’s available with 2 optional pricing methods.

Click ‘‘Add’’ to add new price :

Charging by time : you use it when the customer would like to use the internet on time base (for example 1 euro/hour).

Charging by volume : you use it when the customer would like to use the internet on volume base (for example 1 euro/MB).

Step 1 : Create a new pricing (2/3).

Note : Each price has a name and the maximum number of prices you can create is 10.

Name : give a name to the price (no space authorized).

Fee type : select he fee type in the drop down list.

Unit cost : choose your currency of the unit cost out of 18 currencies (for example 1 euro/hour).

Save by clicking on “save” button.

Step 2 : Create a customer account (1/6).

To create a customer account after get prepaid, go to ‘‘Billing > User management’’ to create user name and password to give it to the end user visiting the internet cafe or hotel.

Click ‘‘Add’’ to add a new user :

Please fill in the following info :

User name and Password : the software will propose a username and password by default, you can change it if you want. Money amount : please fill the amount that your end user gave you, based on his choice time or volume. Expired date : choose the expired date for the end user account. Pricing : choose the correct price you have created in step 1. Band Rule : choose the level to limit end user’s download bandwidth. “No_LIMIT” is also optional. Save by clicking on “Save” button.

You can create up to 20 user names and passwords.

The length of user name have to be between 6 to 12 characters that the owner could define, includes letters and numbers, capital letter and small letter are distinguished.

Then it will show account list as below : ‘‘to generate new account’’

Print : By clicking on «Print», the owner can print the username and password and how to connect to give it to the end-user.

Delete : The owner could delete charge record by clicking on «Delete».

Important : Please click ‘‘Save’’ button before switch off your Surf & Pay or you will be in risk to loose billing data.

The owner should provide the end user :

Wi-Fi hotspot name (by default “Orange Surf and Pay”) and network key (by default “super”).

End user personal username and password after launching his browser.

Step 3 : Re-charging an end user (1/2).

If the end user would like to recharge his account during surfing, he could ask the owner.

The owner should go to ‘‘Billing > User Management’’, choose the end-user line. Recharge the account as below :

Then insert the new amount then click save :

Step 4 : End user checkout (1/3).

If the end user would like to checkout, do as follow :

The owner should go to ‘‘Billing > User Monitor > Checkout icon’’ :

Step 4 : End user checkout (2/3). After clicking ‘‘Checkout’’ icon, it shows the final end user bill :

Note : This is only the preview bill not final bill. The owner should not charge end user by this bill.

After clicking ‘‘Checkout’’ icon in preview bill, it shows the final end user bill :

Note : If the owner should print above end user bill (make sure there is a printer connected to PC). Then the owner should refund the balance to end user.

After checkout the end user account will disappear in User Monitor and in user Management will shows balance 0, and this account couldn’t pass authentication :

Step 4 : End user checkout (3/3).

Step 5 : End user expired account.

When the validation date of the end user account expires, the balance will be 0. The end user expired account will be deleted from User management every 5 minutes. The end user expired account couldn’t pass authentication.

Step 6 : End user deleting account.

2 kinds of end user accounts could be deleted :

End user account without balance including checkout account and expired account. In this case, it will appears in the history data.

End user account with no connection access and no charge record. In this case, it will not appear in “History Data”.

Step 7 : End user History Data.

The owner could search the history of the end user account based on username and date. If search by date, the date should be the account checkout day.

6. End user focus.

The end user has a PC (1/3).

How an end user can connect using the local PC of the cyberowner ?

Step 1 : Go to the internet browser. Browse the internet then you will go to the Surf & Pay Page.

Step 2 : Switch off pop up blocker in your browser.

Step 3 : Customer login. Below Surf & Pay end user page will appear, then you should insert the personal User name & Password :

Step 4 : Start browsing the internet.

The end user has a PC (3/3).

Step 5 : Monitoring, pause or leave.

Monitoring : the popup window shows your “User Name”, “Pricing”, “Expired Time” and “Remaining Time” of your account connection.

Pause : Click on “pause” button (see below), and the reseller could see the same information (see below).

Leave : to stop being charged by Surf & Pay is to disconnect Wi-Fi connection.

Note : the popup window may be blocked by your browser. Check the blocking popup window in your browser settings.

The end user comes with his Wi-Fi laptop (1/4).

How to connect to the internet using a personal Wi-Fi laptop ?

Step 1 : Switch on the Wi-Fi functionality of your laptop.

Step 2 : Find the Orange Surf & Pay Wi-Fi hotspot :

Select the network. By default it’s “Orange Surf and Pay” or ask to the owner of the place.

Type the network key (by default) : super

Step 3 : Launch your internet browser.

You will automatically go to the Surf & Pay home page.

Step 4 : Switch off pop up blocker in your browser.

Step 5 : Customer login :

Below authentication hotspot page will appear. Fill the Username and Password given by the owner.

Step 6 : Start browsing the internet.

Step 7 : Monitoring, pause or leave.

Monitoring : the popup window shows your “User Name”, “Pricing”, “Expired Time” and “Remaining Time” of your account connection.

Pause : Click on “pause” button (see below), and the reseller could see the same information (see below). You will not be charged during the pause.

Leave : to stop being charged by Surf & Pay is to disconnect Wi-Fi connection.

Note : the popup window may be blocked by your browser. Check the blocking popup window in your browser settings.

7. End user management.

Step 1 : End user monitoring (1/2).

In the same time customer login, reseller could see below changes on GUI : “Status” in “User Management” menu becomes “Activated” :

Account appears in ‘‘online’’ in “User Monitor” menu :

It means Surf & Pay starts to charge this account.

Step 2 : End user pause (1/2).

When customer wants to leave for a while and stop being charged, he could click “Pause” icon in popup window. Then he couldn’t access Internet any more and coursly will not be charged. Hotspot authentication page will appear if he tried to browse.

At the same time customer pause, reseller could see below change :

1) A popup window will show at the right bottom corner of reseller’s screen :

2) The account in “User Monitor” menu will show red :

Customer in pausing situation could re-login by input account into authentication page again. Then all changes in reseller’s screen caused by customer pausing will disappear. Status info : green color : on-line, red color : left at (date/time)

Step 3 : End user leave (1/2).

Another way to stop being charged by Surf & Pay is to disconnect Wi-Fi. Once when customer disconnects Wi-Fi, reseller could see below change :

1) A popup window will show at the right bottom corner of reseller’s screen :

2) The account in “User Monitor” menu will show red, it’s same reaction to user pause.

When end user reconnects Wi-Fi, reseller could see information in popup window changes from “account has left” to “account has paused” :

3) Customers have to re-login via authentication page if he wants to access Internet again.

8. End user paid record.

Paid : Go to ‘‘Billing > Paid’’. You can search the paid record saved in Surf & Pay. You can search the user paid record by user name and date.

Click Export button to download the paid record file to a PC. It could be read by Microsoft Excel.

9. End user historical report. History Report : Go to ‘‘Billing > History Report’’. You could search the history of the end user account based on username and date. If search by date, the date should be the day when account’s balance turn to zero.

Click Export icon to download the historical report to a PC. It could be read by Microsoft Excel
