Introductions and Sharing
• Go around your table introducing yourselves to one another.
• Each person has one minute to share: name role a thought about the 4A’s

Completing the Puzzle
• Each person needs a puzzle piece from the middle of your table.
• Once you have a piece, read your “profile.” This is just a brief comment about a student
need.

Make a Puzzle!
• Seek out others in the room with puzzle pieces that fit yours and make a puzzle!
• Once you make your puzzle, this is your new group (there will be triads once puzzles are complete).

Meeting Your Students’ Needs
• As a group, read the “profiles.”
• Locate your 4A’s Notecatcher p. 86 and do some initial thinking about the student that your puzzle piece represents.
• Collect your thoughts on the side of your notecatcher titled, “Your Puzzle Piece Student.”

• You will watch two classroom videos.
• Locate the Anticipated Acted Notecatcher in your participant notebook p. 94.
• As you watch, make note of when the teacher anticipated and then acted on student need.
• Your notes will prepare your for a small group discussion.

• Think about the 4A’s. What do you want to analyze and assess from these videos?
• Discuss in groups

Break!
• When you return from break, join your puzzle piece group again.

Supporting ALL Students
• Return to your 4A’s Notecatcher on p. 86 and fill in any new thinking on the side titled, “your thinking about meeting the needs of ALL students.”
• While you are individually reflecting, refer to yesterday’s Continuum of Interventions document.
• Next, discuss as a group.
• Last, add more thinking to your notecatcher.

• Locate the spiral bound packet titled: Common Core Aligned Interventions for Adolescent Readers.

Get to Know the Resource
• Step 1: Look through the materials for the “gist.” (10 min)
• Step 2: Read the “overview” (5 min)
• Step 3: Select a tabbed section that you want to look at more closely. Track your thinking on the Notice, wonder and connect Notecatcher. (15 min)
• Step 4: Synthesize: Discuss how these materials can be used school to support all students. Create a visual of this synthesis (15 min)
