Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership (known as HSP) was established in 2003 and is one of the 45 County Sports Partnerships in England that are part of Sport England’s long term plan for sport across the nation.

The HSP team works with numerous partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors. We bring together expertise, resources and ideas from all parts of the sports, health & physical activity arenas in Hertfordshire.

HSP aims to ensure that the county’s Primary Schools have the best support available to deliver high quality PE and sport experiences for their pupils. The HSP team can help primary schools utilise their PE and sport premium funding effectively to provide sustainable whole school improvements. This document outlinesfour key ways in which HSP can help.

How we can helpExpertise within the HSP team and the broader partnership can help ensure that all pupils with a disability are offered the opportunities, progression and enjoyment that PE, sport and physical activity can provide. Taking into account the needs of the whole class will maximise effective integration.

A planned consultation with the Headteacher and/or SENCO will discuss the needs of any relevant pupils. The consultant will also meet with the pupils and appropriate teachers to discuss individual needs, and observe relevant PE lessons. An action plan may include specific equipment, techniques and training requirements.

Our Inclusive Sport consultants share over 25 years’ experience as teachers, working in both mainstream and special schools. They are also experienced course tutors who have considerable expertise working with pupils and professionals in a PE and sport environment.

Funding Support

How we can helpThe HSP team has considerable experience and success in working with partners to prepare and submit funding bids. We can help put together funding applications that could help enhance provision for sport, PE and physical activity for schools.

Our grant-writing specialists will work with schools to understand individual requirements, identify suitable projects, and help source funding opportunities up to £10,000. Following the initial consultation, an appropriate funding application will be prepared and submitted on behalf of the school.

Grant applications can include funding for sports equipment and activity delivery programmes.
