Who We Are The Julius Foundation (TJF) is a charitable non-

profit organization that was incorporated in Helena,

MT in 2014. We established our organization to

assist Fr. Julius Bwowe, a pastor in the Diocese of

Kampala, Uganda, who oversees the pastoral care

of over 60,000 impoverished residents.

Fr. Julius has been visiting the Helena community

since 2006 to raise awareness of the substandard

living conditions of his people. The Cathedral of St.

Helena soon after designated his parish of Our La-

dy of Assumption as a sister ministry. In order to

better support Fr. Julius, parish members of the

Cathedral of St. Helena formed TJF as a tax ex-

empt vehicle for donations and to access local, na-

tional and international grant sources.

TJF is also collaborating with the Carroll College

chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) in

order to meet critical water and sanitation needs in

Fr. Julius’ dio-

cese.

The need is so great

Over the years

Fr. Julius has

described the

extreme poverty

of his parishion-

ers. Families of 8

to 10 individuals

rely on less than

$1 a day. Many

of the residents’ water sources are dirty and con-

taminated, and they have no healthcare programs

to treat the many diseases caused by drinking un-

sanitary water. His community also struggles to

develop due to illiteracy and a lack of suitable edu-

Our Success Stories

Since Fr. Julius first began traveling to the

United States in 2006, great strides have

been made to aid his suffering people in

Uganda. In the ten years following his arrival

many funds have

been raised to as-

sist his projects.

We have already

used a portion of

these funds to

bring relief to his

people by:

Rebuilding the roof on Our Lady of the

Rosary Church

Installing cisterns for collecting rain water

at Our Lady of Assumption parish

Providing funds to implement the EWB

program to install clean water systems

near Holy Trinity School and surrounding

community

Annually providing Fr. Julius with cash

donations for distribution wherever he

sees essential

What We Do . The Julius Foundation

is committed to improv-

ing the quality of life of

the poverty-stricken rural

communities surround-

ing Kampala, Uganda. Fr. Julius has identified

a number of areas of need that desperately

call for developmental improvement. Our top

priorities are:

Installing water systems and sanitation fa-

cilities to provide clean, available sources

of water

Improving education by providing facilities,

supplies, and sponsorship programs

Other projects

As our organization continues to grow, The

Julius Foundation plans to address further

crucial needs including healthcare programs

and medical care facilities, food security,

transportation improvements, and building

More about our story

Since Fr. Julius’

initial visit, the Julius

Foundation has

greatly strength-

ened its connec-

tions, especially

with the Cathedral of St. Helena, St. Paul’s

United Methodist Church, the Helena commu-

nity, and supporters in other states.
