Our Four Seasons at Charlottesville

We are indeed grateful to these local businesses who are supporting our projects. In return, we encourage our residents to support them-- when we eat, move, acquire, decorate, or insure. Some are familiar to us; others are new in the area. Here’s a short intro to most of them.

ONEOFAKIND CORY- Cory started crafting about 40 years ago, starting with tole painting and adding other mediums from there, like beaded jewelry making, pine needle coiling, gourd art, mandala dot art, and Quilling.

She likes the diversity and tries something new almost every year. Currently she sells at local craft shows (hopefully they will be back again soon), at Qute Scraps, a Ruckersville handmade craft shop (see ad), and MAD ARTS, a craft shop in Madison. She also sells her jewelry at the Art Center in Glen Allen, near Richmond.

Cory teaches classes through the Art Guild of Greene (artguildofgreene.org/2020classes) and is happy to show her work at her home in Four Seasons or through her Facebook page at Facebook.com/oneofakindcory

Selling a home is about more than real estate. Change happens

for a multitude of reasons, and we are mindful of each of our

clients’ distinct needs.

In the last 2 ½ years, homeowners in the Four

Seasons community gave us the opportunity to list

and sell 12 of their homes.

Our proven sales success and knowledge of the

neighborhood are what make us the top real estate

agents in Four Seasons. When a Realtor has a client

interested in purchasing a home in the neighborhood,

we’re often their first call.

We have the tools to sell your home:

• A free comparative market analysis illustrating the

current market value of your home

• A database of individuals and agents who have

shown interest in the Four Seasons neighborhood.

• We can make suggestions about how to stage your

home so it shows well in photos and to potential

buyers.

• Professional photographers we hire for all our listings, at no cost to you

• We utilize video & voice calls • Electronic document signing • Voice guided virtual tours • Your house will be listed on all the websites where

buyers search for a home to buy

Our business focuses on providing the best service

possible to each client. We want you to know how

much we appreciate the opportunity to list and sell

your home.

THE 106 The timing was not great. During the end of 2019, and beginning of

2020, three business partners were arranging the opening of a new brick and mortar restaurant in Ruckersville, “The 106”. But then the Coronavirus hit. Not giving up, they held an unusually quiet Grand Opening on March 17. Three days later the Virginia Governor announced the statewide shutdown in reaction to the pandemic.

In response, the team began offering limited curbside pick-up service. Luckily, they were perfectly positioned to operate the curbside business because they each have been operating their own food truck business throughout 9 counties surrounding Albemarle. Primary locations have been wineries and breweries with a desire to provide food options to complement their alcohol offerings. William Cooper (Chef Will) has been operating his truck “106 Street Food” since 2016. The truck recently was a winner in the 2019 Food Truck Battle held at the Augusta Expo in Fishersville, VA on Labor Day weekend. The event was a successful $40,000 fundraiser for the MaDee Project, a local nonprofit providing financial support for families dealing with pediatric cancer. Marcus Hoyt runs the “106 Grilled” truck. He was tutored in Chef Will’s truck for two years, and decided to venture out in his own truck in 2018. Kirk Ishitani (nicknamed “Ish”) began operating the “106 Eastview” truck in 2019, with a taste of Japanese style foods.

The 106 specializes in 8-ounce burgers, offering four different combinations of additional meat, various cheeses and different buns. All are accompanied with arugula or lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. Each burger comes with a choice or fries or potato tots. Other menu items include grilled chicken sandwiches, a reuben on marble rye, and specials like pork schnitzel, steak & cheese. Offerings to come will include vegetarian sandwiches as their brick and mortar menu expands. The trio definitely has a sense of community and charity. Together they used their three food trucks to hold an event called #feedthefrontline on April 8-10. Meals were delivered to UVA and Martha Jefferson hospitals and also offered to other first-responders as the trucks set up camp in Albemarle’s Seminole Square shopping center. The event served more than 5,000 free meals in conjunction with OrderUp mobile food cart. https://www.facebook.com/thereal106/ 14971 Spotswood Trail – Rte 29 & 33

SILVER EAGLE FINANCE, LLC Rick Green utilized an opportunity to leave the corporate financial world during the Great Recession of 2008, settling into the mountain area around Charlottesville. At the time, his 30-year career had been spent at multi-national bank offices in New York and Europe while he also earned an M.B.A. in Finance at New York University. He developed a proficiency in accounting and operational controls, and became adept at financial problem solving.

During Rick’s time in Charlottesville, he broadened his professional skills by writing business cases for accounting and finance professors at the Darden Graduate School of Business, and through reconciling financial statement and endowment records as a consultant at the Thomas Jefferson Foundation.

Rick’s professional experience became very valuable on a personal level when both his aging father and then his uncle became unable to adequately manage their financial accounts. He became acutely aware of the difficulties people may have as they age in keeping up with the changing world of financial technology. He learned the importance of being empathic to their challenges, and respecting their desire for independence by providing assistance while limiting intervention.

This is where Silver Eagle Finance, LLC began. Seeing the struggles of his aging family members he became passionate about the unique needs of the growing senior population. Rick became actively involved in the Aging in Place Business Network in Charlottesville, as well as the Aging Together Team near Ruckersville. Both groups focus on education and assistance for their community’s aging populations.

The mission of Silver Eagle Finance is to provide guidance to individuals and their families to help them recognize and address their unique set of financial challenges. These may include reconciling bank accounts, organizing bill paying, providing education to minimize fraud, or gathering all relevant tax documents before sending them to your tax preparer.

Above all, Silver Eagle Finance will strive to work with you and your unique needs and preferences. An initial 30-minute consultation is complimentary. Rick Green - Silver Eagle Finance, LLC [email protected]

DUTCH PANTRY - We are a small shop that features an array of baked goods, deli meats, bulk food including flours, pasta, yeast, and spices, hand dipped ice cream, and lots of other gift items. Our most popular item is our Made to Order Breakfast and Deli Sandwiches.

In July, it will be 8 years of serving Greene. We first started out as Cup of Joy Coffeehouse and Bakery as I am sure many of you remember. We started branching out to more retail items because we saw a huge customer interest

in that and hence the name change. We have been so blessed with all of your support through the years and are glad to still be a part of Greene.

Our business started out as four friends (Josh & Fanita Clemons, Anita, April) but we have had some business changes through the years due to life moving on. Right now, April (with her husband, Josh Yoder) and Anita (with her husband, Shah Saleem) are actively running the store. April moved to TN when she got married but still remains a huge part of our business and we are hoping for her to join us in the future. Shah is our business manager and does a terrific job at keeping the business going. He has a Masters Degree in Business and Marketing. Shah had previously worked at Audi in Chantilly, VA and was ready to get into the ownership side of business. Anita had left the business several years back when she got married and also to pursue her nursing career which she still enjoys part time when she is not running the store and taking care of her daughter, Kaylee. Anita is happy to be back

A locally owned business, the Highlands Golf Park is a high quality, complete practice facility open to the public. The driving range offers 44 grass and mat tee stations, a practice putting green, pitching and chipping areas, night lights, a pro shop, rental clubs, sheltered and heated hitting areas, bunkers and uneven lie mounds for specialty shots. Essentially, a golfer is able to practice any shot, under

any condition, at virtually any time. For something a little more casual, stop by and play Pirate Pete's Miniature Golf Course – a fun & challenging experience for everyone!

The Highlands Golf Park is dedicated to the memory of Leslie W. Mercer, father of owner and retired teaching professional Anne Marie Scheuermann. Of Scottish heritage, Mr. Mercer was a marvelous teaching professional who worked diligently to make the game of golf available to all. He served lengthy terms as a USGA committeeman and sat on the USGA's Junior Golf Committee. Mr. Mercer pioneered the development of high school golf teams and was an early proponent of public links golf.

Family owned and operated, the Highlands endeavors to carry on his love for the game of golf along with its rich traditions. Anne Marie, together with her husband, Peter Scheuermann, developed and opened the Highlands on May 23, 1997. Their daughter, Gretchen Scheuermann (an LPGA Class A Teaching Professional) joined the operation in 1999 and is currently the on-site owner/manager & instructor. Peter & Anne Marie retired in 2007 but, you still may see them on the range once in a while!!

The Mercer-Scheuermann family has succeeded in supplying members of the community with a strategic, integrated practice area of exacting standards while maintaining a courteous, comfortable, non-intimidating atmosphere of fun and encouragement.

The Highlands is conveniently located on route 29 in Ruckersville (just 1 mile north of route 33 intersection) – it’s an easy drive from anywhere!! Hours of operation vary by season, so call us at (434) 985-2765 or go to http://www.highlandsgolfpark.com – and, be sure to check us out on Facebook.
