Rescue Hawk, the adopted dog of Deb Krzeczowski, relaxes in the pool after pulling the first-, second- and third-place winners from the pool. Each ball was purchased for a $10 donation, of which half of the total collected went to the group and the other half was split 50 percent, 30 percent and 20 percent for the three balls selected by Hawk. The sixth annual Tennis Ball Bonanza will benefit G.R.E.A.T. Rescue (Golden Retriever Emergency Assistance Team). The event serves as a fundraiser for the group and a way to show appreciation for the people who have fostered and adopted dogs through the group. Retrievers were free to play with tennis balls and one dog, Hawk, retrieved numbered balls from a pool for prizes. The event was at Fresh Prints Pet Lodge & Day Resort in Jacksonville. Reed Brown, treasurer of G.R.E.A.T. Rescue, holds the numbered tennis ball chosen by Hawk, (foreground in pool), who designated the raffle’s second prize winner. Hawk was joined by other furry friends as the event went on.
