Students learn problem solving skills using real life, motivating, hands-on activities. Students strengthen reading skills and buildstrong vocabularies with high-interest, nonfiction articles and stories.

Pre-tests are administered to pinpoint areas that each student needs to focus on. Each student receives an Individual Achieve-ment Plan with individual goals. Parents are updated on student progress. Ongoing assessments are given to ensure consistent student success. Final assessments are given to measure growth. Children who regularly attend our classes showedan approximate 35% increase in test scores from our assessment test to our post-test.

KnowledgePoints is a national program that has helped thousands of children throughout the United States. Locally in Pennsylvania, KnowledgePoints has worked with hundreds of students since 2004. The KnowledgePoints program begins witha complete diagnostic assessment or pre-test. The assessment provides a clear picture of each child’s strengths and weaknesses, which allows us to pinpoint the student’s specific needs. Based on the assessment, an educational learning plan is developedto match the child’s needs. Tutoring is conducted in small groups, with student teacher ratios of 3 to 1 or less. KnowledgePointsoffers a minimum of 40 hours of tutoring. For more information, check KnowledgePoints out on the web at www.knowledgepoints.com.

The goal of the SDoL SES Tutoring Program is to support the District schools in their effort to improve the academic achieve-ment of underserved students in one area of the parents’ choosing: reading, math, or science. This free, onsite, after schoolacademic program provides additional intensive or supplemental instructional time for all eligible students in grades K5-12 tolearn academic concepts and strengthen their content skills.

The tutoring program utilizes highly qualified District teachers who are committed to SDoL student success. SDoL teachershave developed positive relationships with students and their families; they are knowledgeable about the tutoring curriculumand current school day instruction; and they apply research-based strategies when preparing and delivering PA standards-aligned, data-driven, individualized instruction.

Following a collaborative parent conference, each participating student will receive an individualized learning plan that will incorporate any current IEP or 504 plan goals. Tutoring sessions will feature small group instruction, teacher modeling, guidedpractice, and independent application to allow students to practice and deepen their understanding of new knowledge.

I understand that the district will enter into an agreement with the provider, and I will be notified of a timeto meet with the provider to set goals for my student.

I understand that the provider will regularly inform me and the student’s teacher(s) of the student’sprogress.

I understand that if funds are insufficient to cover the Supplemental Educational Services for all of the students who choose to participate, participation will be prioritized on the basis of academic need as defined by the district.
