    The Largest Wave

    The highest wave ever recorded was in Lituya Bay on the southern coast ofAlaska. In July 1958 a massive landslide was triggered by an earthquake,causing a tsunami wave that reached an impressive 1720 feet (524m) high!

    Amazingly, two fishing boats in the bay survived the event, although a thirdboat was washed inland, killing its crew.
