Dear Parents and Care Givers,
We have had fantastic weather and even better parent support for our annual Kindy and Pre Primary Athletics Carnival this morning. Unfortunately, I was a little delayed in making my way to the oval but was lucky enough to catch the final event of the morning and even had a run myself in the ‘roller relay’! The atmosphere was fantastic with all our children participating with enthusiasm and our staff and parents joining in the fun of the day. It was great to see all the children enjoying morning tea with their families as a culmination to the event. A special thank you to all the Kindy and Pre Primary staff for putting on such a wonderful morning.
Next Thursday 17 November we are lucky enough to have Mr Paul Litherland presenting his ‘Surf Online Safe’ workshops with our Year 5/6 classes and a special ADULTS ONLY evening session for all parents and interested family and friends. Entry to the evening session is just a gold coin donation (similar sessions at others schools cost between $15 - $20) with refreshments available from our P&C. After becoming frustrated with the lack of legislation or authority he had as a Police Officer within the Technology Crime Investigation Unit of WA to act on the concerns of parents and educators, Paul decided to retire and pursue his passion of educating kids to be safe online. All who have seen Paul present have been very impressed with his subject matter knowledge and presentation style. Subjects include;
Social Networking: What our kids are using - Trends & Pitfalls.
Online Predators: Risks & Trends, protection methods.
Cyber Bullying: Detection, prevention & coping.
The Law: How it relates to us all.
Device Use: Phones, Tablets & PC's, Tips & Tricks.
Image Sharing: Statistics, Risks, Tips & Hints.
I strongly urge all parents to attend this session from 6.30pm in the Assembly Area .
Our final School Development Day for 2016 will be held on Friday 18 November. The major focus of this day for staff will be reviewing the school’s progress in 2016 and making recommendations for planning towards 2017. We trust that parents and students will appreciate the long weekend this day presents for them!
Planning for 2017 is proving quite difficult this year, with a number of children ‘coming and going’ from our school as well as the introduction of our Specialist Program - Autism. For this reason we have only just settled on a provisional class structure for 2017. With these provisional classes in place we are now able to invite parent requests for class placements in 2017. Requests for class placements will only be considered if they are made in writing, based on the specific educational needs of your child by Friday 2 December. It is important to note the complexities involved in establishing classrooms and that parent requests are one of a number of pieces of information considered when arriving at class placement decisions. While we will do our very best to accommodate all requests, it may not be possible to please everybody. In order to assist parents in this process, the provisional class structure (this could change even before the start of 2017) is;
2 x K, 3 x PP, 2 x 1, 1/2, 2, 2/3, 2 x 3, 4, 4/5, 5, 5/6, 6.
Regards
Craig

P&C NEWS This year’s Halloween Disco raised a staggering $1358 for the school community! Thanks to all the people who volunteered to
help on the night. Without you, events like this would not be possible. A special mention to Nicole Ives and Deb Fellowes who
have worked tirelessly in fundraising this year and have put many hours into organising the disco. Massive thanks to Sarah
Prosser (and offsider Cate) for making the amazing decorations and for the very popular craft corner.
The P&C is funding and hosting the upcoming ‘Surf Online Safe’ cyber security session for Year 5/6 students and a special
ADULTS ONLY session for all parents. Entry to the parent session is just a gold coin donation and refreshments will be provided.
Please RSVP to [email protected] by Sunday 13th November.
Get set for a FREE FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT ON FRIDAY DECEMBER 2nd! Bring along your bean bags, chairs and blankets, and join
us on the school oval as we screen the popular classic ‘Elf’. Food and drinks will be on sale plus Christmas raffles and fun activities
for the kids! This event is going to be huge, so if you can spare 30 minutes on the night to help, or with set up/clean up, please
speak to one of the P&C volunteers or drop by the Uniform Shop. Be sure to look out for your invitation and please RSVP.
