BVP-9500WSSony Color Video CameraIn 1984, Sony launched the BVP-3000 high-speed scanning camera. The second-generation SuperMotion camera, the BVP-9000, was introduced in 1993. Combined with the BVW-9000 Betacam SP®
VTR, this camera formed the core of the world's first Super Motion Video System and radically changedsports coverage by providing exquisite slow-motion pictures in OB situations. Today, as expectationsfor higher quality slow-motion playback continue to increase, Sony's digital technology brings revolu-tionary changes to the broadcast industry to meet those demands. With the latest CCD technology and12-bit A/D converter, the next generation Advanced Digital Signal Processing (ADSP) camera - theBVP-9500WS* - delivers outstanding picture quality for your specialized needs.
Operationally, this new camera inherits the same functions and features as the other very popular SonyBVP-900 series broadcast cameras. Furthermore, this camera is equipped for compressionless digitaltransmission, using the same fiber optic cables as Sony HD camera systems. The BVP-9500WS is capa-ble of transferring data at a rate of 1.08 Gigabytes/second, ensuring high quality transfer from cam-era head to CCU. When combined with a Sony MAV-555 Multi-Access Disk Recorder, the BVP-9500WSprovides a completely digital Super Motion video system - from acquisition to storage and replay.
Combining the benefits of digital technology with functionality and cost efficiency, the BVP-9500WS isthe best solution for the highest quality slow-motion video capture in the DTV era.
* Two models of the BVP-9500WS are available: the BVP-9500WS for NTSC and the BVP-9500WSP for PAL.
Switchable SystemWith the ability to capture at three-times the normal frame rate in the 525/180 Super Motion mode (625/150for the BVP-9500WSP), the BVP-9500WS is the perfect camera for slow-motion applications. When slow-motion recording is not necessary, it functions equally well in the 525/60 standard mode (625/50 for theBVP-9500WSP). Equipped with the same features as other BVP-900 series cameras, the BVP-9500WSperforms with the same high standards as all Sony broadcast cameras. Even greater flexibility is possi-ble since the BVP-9500WS can capture in the 16:9 aspect ratio as well as in standard 4:3.
Disk StorageThe BVP-9500WS, CA-950, and CCU-900, combined with the SonyMAV-555 Multi-Access Disk Recorder, provide unsurpassed SuperMotion functionality. With the MAV-555, slow-motion replay can beinstantaneously shown, even while the camera and disk continue torecord. Because the storage medium of the MAV-555 is a hard disk, rather than tape-based, search and access times are significantlyreduced, allowing quicker access to the footage you want to replay.Note: Optional BKP-9330 (for CCU-900) and BKMA-520SS (for MAV-555) boards are required for
Super Motion applications.
Features
Fiber Optic TransmissionThe BVP-9500WS utilizes fiber optic transmission from the camera head to the CCU, thus keeping the videosignal in the digital realm. With a high data transfer rate of 1.08 Gigabytes/second, digital transmissionensures that the signal quality is not compromised with unnecessary layers of A-D/D-A conversion on thepath from lens to control unit. With fiber optic cables, the signal can be transmitted up to a maximum of3000 meters without degradation.
Power HAD™ and ADSP TechnologiesThe latest Power HAD 1000 CCDs and Advanced Digital Signal Processing (ADSP) technologiesensure superior picture quality. In Super Motion mode, the BVP-9500WS achieves a sensitivity of F4.0at 2000 lux with a minimum illumination of 60 lux. The typical signal-to-noise ratio is a high 60 dB*(58 dB for the BVP-9500WSP), which means that this camera will have a similar look to other Sony cameras, such as the BVP-950/950P, when used in a multi-camera operation (for details, please refer to thespecifications).* In standard mode, the typical signal-to-noise ratio is 64 dB (62 dB for the BVP-9500WSP).

Features
Compact and Lightweight DesignThe BVP-9500WS retains the same compact and lightweight body design as other BVP series cameras.Weighing only approximately 6.9 kg (15 lb 3 oz, including camera head, camera adapter and viewfinder), andwith a low center of gravity, this camera is very comfortable to operate. The low profile leaves a wide periph-eral view for the camera operator, when used on the shoulder.
