However, she feels “southern in her soul” due to her mother’s strong Mississippi roots. In addition to her series credits, Felicia has written full-length movies for 20th Century Fox, the Disney Channel, and MTV Films. Henderson continues to teach television drama in the film school at UCLA, while working on her doctoral degree in the school’s Cinema and Media studies program. WonderGirl - Scott Lobdell – Scott was born in 1963. He didn’t begin to read comics until he was 17 years old, while lying in bed after lung surgery. Later, he went to college to study psychology, but quit two years later when he began to write. While in college, he wrote for the college newspaper and interviewed Marvel editor Al Milgrom. Lobdell started submitting various stories to Mar-vel, but was systematically rejected by various editors, including Tom DeFal-co. Later, DeFalco started editing Marvel Comics Presents (a bi-weekly book) requiring many writers, pencillers and inkers. Lobdell submitted a story about a character from Contest of Champions. Because the characters involved were rather obscure, DeFalco didn’t need to extract approval from other editors, and he decided to give Lobdell a chance. In 2011, Lobdell took on the writing du-ties for Red Hood and the Outlaws, which debuted as part of DC Comics’ com-pany-wide title relaunch, The New 52.[9] and a new Teen Titans comic starring Red Robin, Superboy, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash and three new characters.[10]On July 19, 2011 Lobdell announced a creator-owned book called Awesome that he was working on in conjunction with Ilias Kyriazis.

IntroThe present comic anthology, “Super Empowered Women” was created to give young women interested in comics empowering female role models. Female characters are scarce in super hero comics when in comparison to the amount of males. Therefore, we wanted to point out the significant female heroine, and how they important they are. These female characters are diverse and could be role models to a variety of young women with their personality and qualities. The qualities that have were created from their different backgrounds as characters. We hoped that these characters could help instill these characteristics in the young girls and help them succeed in all aspects of life. The female characters that were selected for the anthology were all super heroine from mainly DC comics with the exception of one coming from Marvel. From DC we selected Bat Girl, Cat Woman, Ms. Martian, Wonder Girl, and Wonder Woman. From Marvel Storm from the X-Men was selected. The characters selected are a variety of ages, races, back-grounds, and personalities. They are different because they are supposed to appeal to all different types of young women. They were chosen because in crucial moments they showed great leadership and the common quali-ties of perseverance and strength appeared. These women are strong and independent. They never were damsels in distress and had to be saved by men. This was a deciding factor in many of the options because we did not want to relay the message the being saved by men was appropriate, espe-cially with the growing independency of women. “Super Empowered Women” will feature comics about our super heroine. Each comic will display the women in crucial moments of their series and how their qualities stand out among the rest of the super heroes. Most characters are on teams, so how they are accepted and perceived by their teammates is important as well. This important because we want the young women to have good social skills so they are society. The objective of this anthology is to give young women the role models that they de-serve because so many role models have been laid out for young men.Enjoy!
