Super Fan Hooded Scarf

Designed by Tracey Rediker Materials: Cascade 220® Aran Superwash as shown - 4 skeins in Blue Velvet 813 (main color) 2 skeins in Really Red 809 (second color) US size 8 circular needles and/or long straight needles darning needle scissors Gauge: in garter stitch 16x32=4” Finished size: approximately 8 feet or big enough for an adult man Skills Required: cast on knit stitch knit 2 together/decrease

pick up stitches cast off Pattern: beginning with scarf Cast on 144 stitches using Blue (main color) knit garter stitch (knit every row) for 3” (24 rows), slipping the first stitch in each row (selvedge edge). cut yarn knit next 3” using Red (second color) in same pattern (48 rows) cut yarn knit next 3” using Blue (main color) in same pattern (72 rows) cast off repeat this entire piece a second time. you will now have the two halves of the scarf which will be connected together by the hood. adding the hood with right side up, pick up 36 stitches along the short edge of one scarf piece in Blue (main color) knit in garter stitch slipping the first stitch in each row (selvedge edge) for 8” (64 rows) decrease at end of row, every other row, for 2” (28 stitches remain) cast off

for the second side, pick up 36 stitches along the short edge of the second scarf piece in Blue (main color) knit in garter stitch slipping the first stitch in each row (selvedge edge) for 8” (64 rows) decrease at the beginning of row, every other row, for 2” (28 stitches remain) cast off connecting the hood lay the two sides of the hood together, wrong sides facing Pick up one stitch from bottom edge of one piece of hood cast on 10 stitches, pick up one stitch from the bottom edge of the other piece of hood (12 stitches), turn slip 1, knit 9, knit 2 together, pick up stitch from edge, turn continue this pattern for every row until you have completed the hood cast off and sew in ends.
