ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM) WITH EBD (ELECTRONIC BRAKE-FORCE DISTRIBUTION) AND BAS (BRAKE ASSIST SYSTEM)

During hard braking and on slippery roads, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) helps prevent wheel lock and maintains steering control. EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) evenly distributes braking force to all the wheels, regardless of passenger number, luggage load or road conditions. BAS (Brake Assist System) monitors normal driving patterns and is able to distinguish normal braking and a panicked stop – when it loads the brakes with hydraulic pressure in milliseconds, delivering more stopping power sooner.

ACTIVE STABILITY AND TRACTION CONTROL (ASTC)ASTC helps you maintain traction on the most slippery or rugged of surfaces. This intelligent system automatically controls the engine output, preventing the wheels from spinning. By sensing a loss of traction in an independent wheel, it applies braking force to that wheel and sends extra power and torque to the other wheels with traction to keep you moving.

EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE AND PRECISION HANDLING ON ANY TERRAIN

The Outlander’s 2.4 litre 16-valve DOHC MIVEC engine produces 123kW of power and 222Nm of torque.

Designed for enhanced performance, MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control system) switches between higher and lower cam profiles as engine speed increases or decreases, ensuring higher fuel efficiency under general operating conditions and optimal torque at low speeds with high-loads .

This compact engine alters the intake valve timing to optimise engine output across a wide rpm range, producing high torque at low rpm and more top-end power for highway cruising. This superior technology keeps you in control no matter the driving conditions, gives you excellent fuel efficiency and has low emissions.

2.4-LITRE MIVEC ENGINE

The next generation INVECS-III CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with 6-step Sports Mode delivers effortless acceleration from any speed, smoother gear changes and a smoother ride. By keeping the engine in its optimum power range at all times, CVT provides improved fuel efficiency (8.2 litres per 100km*) and lower exhaust emissions.

CVT TRANSMISSION

The Outlander provides three electronically-on-demand driving modes to balance fuel economy and driving performance over varying terrain.

/ 4WD ECO MODE: In Eco Mode the Outlander monitors the terrain and driver input and only engages all-wheel drive when necessary, reducing fuel consumption and ensuring a more efficient drive.

/ 4WD AUTO: In Auto Mode, the Outlander will stay in all-wheel-drive unless the road conditions are so smooth that it’s completely unnecessary. Similar to Eco Mode, Auto Mode will automatically adjust the all-wheel-drive, but it recognises that all-wheel drive is the preference (unlike Eco Mode, which will only switch to all-wheel drive when it’s really necessary).

/ 4WD LOCK MODE: By selecting Lock Mode under normal road conditions, priority is placed on performance. More torque is directed to the rear wheels than in 4WD Auto Mode. This provides greater power off the line, better control when accelerating on gravel or loose surfaces, and enhanced stability at high speeds. Rear wheel torque transfer is maintained at 50 percent, meaning up to 50 percent of available torque is sent to the rear wheels under full-throttle acceleration on dry road surfaces. When in 4WD Lock Mode, torque at the rear wheels is increased by a smaller degree through corners than with 4WD Auto Mode. This mode is also ideal for more challenging off-road conditions.

ELECTRIC TAILGATE

The Outlander’s electric tailgate automatically opens and closes via the vehicle’s remote. This feature can be activated and de-activated with the press of a button on the centre console.

TOUCH SCREEN AUDIO DISPLAY SYSTEM

Through a high definition touch screen, the Onboard Entertainment System not only allows you to control the entertainment and information features, but the Outlander’s full suite of audio options. Easily choose music off your CDs, Bluetooth connected device or iPod.

FLEXIBLE SEATING

The Outlander’s seven seats are designed to adjust to your needs. The quick-folding 60/40 split second row and 50/50 split third row seats can easily be re-arranged to suit your needs, and with reclining seatbacks, make for a comfortable ride. All rear seats can also be folded down to create a large, flat luggage area.
